Chapter Text

Eddie was standing by your locker when you arrived at school. Your 'rocky horror' hoody immediately alerted him to your down mood. "Princess?" he asked. You hummed and opened your locker to get your books for the day. "You okay?" He asked leaning against the locker, fiddling with the chunky rings on his fingers. "Yeah, don't worry about me Eddie" you said and sighed.

Your crush on your supposed best friend has really taken a toll on you. It pained you to see him sometimes, not able to reach out and touch him whenever you wanted. To not be able to tell him everything on your mind.

"If you're sure" he looked suspiciously at you but dismissed. You could tell it was bothering him but, it doesn't matter. Not really. "I am" you replied, giving him little to converse with. "Well... HELLFIRE!" He shouted, he turned a couple heads with his antics and you jumped out your skin. "Care to join tomorrow?" he asked. "I still don't know the game. I'm good with sitting in the corner and reading." You said, grabbing the book that you're reading. "One of these day, I'm gonna get you to play" he said sneakily. "Maybe, if you try hard enough, pretty boy" you said and rolled you eyes, making your way to class. "You think I'm pretty?" He asked teasingly. "If the boot fits" you said, turning the corner and ducking into your classroom.

You decided to skip second period. It was science. You fucking hate science. You went out to the picnic table that Eddie showed you a few months ago. You put on a cassette tape that he recommended, 'British Steel' by Judas Priest, it was good. You brought out the book and started reading.

After a couple pages you felt the bench drop a little and you startled. You looked to your right. "Eddie! For fuck sake don't do that to me, Jesus Christ. You scared me half to fucking death. Fucking hell Munson" you gasped and felt your heart racing. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" he apologized quickly. "Well, you did" you said and paused the cassette. "What you listening to?" He asked, propping his face in his hand whilst his elbow rested on the table top. "Judas Priest" you replied and put your book away as well. "Oohh nice, proper little metal head, aren't you princess?" he asked teasing you. "You know I listen to most music. Ranges from the Beatles to Falco. From the kinks to Judas Priest. Don't put me in a box, Munson. You don't know what I'd do to get out" you said. You tugged on your hoody in front of your stomach, just to readjust. "Fiesty today, aren't we? What's wrong?" He asked, you knew this had to do with earlier.

You were snappier than usual today. It had nothing to do with Eddie. Well, nothing that he'd done. Except for making you fall in love with him, of course.

"Earth to y/n?" He asked, waving a hand in front of your face. "I'm fine" you dismissed yet again. He sighed, annoyed, you knew him. He was your best friend, you could read his sighs. "One day, I'm going to ask you if you're okay and you're going to tell me the truth" he said, taking out his metal lunch box. "Fat chance" you muttered. "What are you doing out here anyway? It's not like you to skip class" he said, adjusting the denim vest he wore. "Didn't feel like going. I sit next to Jason. And it was science. I couldn't put myself through that today" you said, fiddling with the sleeves on your hoody. Eddies face turned serious, he's never serious.

"Does he say anything to you?" he asked. "Sometimes" you mumbled. "Like what?" He asked. "The usual, you know. Stuff about you mainly, if I'm honest. I know it doesn't bug you but it bugs me. He doesn't know you, Eddie. None of them do!" He nodded. "It bugs me sometimes. I don't get why I'm the freak because I play a fantasy game, but Jason Carver gets to fuck a new girl every other day and he's a hero" you looked up at him, he was frowning. He shook his head, as if trying to shake the thoughts away. "It's bullshit." You confirmed.

"You're really not gonna tell me what's bothering you?" he asked, giving you his puppy dog eyes, blinking fastly to batter his eye lashes. "Just, having a bad day, Munson. We all get them." No. Was the answer you implied. "Yeah. Wanna blow off the rest of school" you'd like nothing more. But could you really spend five hours with your best friend who you loved? It would be a test. You never did shy away from a challenge. "Sure, your place or mine?" you asked. "My uncle will be asleep by now, so yours" he said, you nodded.

You both made your way to the parking lot. You walk everyday, Eddie knows this and opened his van. "Your chariot, princess" he opened the door for you and you climbed in quickly. He jumped in himself and turned in the stereo that already has a cassette in it. 'Metallica' blasted through the speakers, you didn't recognize the song but didn't say anything. It was a bit too loud for you but Eddie loved it, so you let it slide.

He pulled up to your house and followed you to your room. He's been here before. He knows where everything is, so it's no surprise the first thing he did was grab a record and put it on the player. The sound of 'Dio' filled the room, Eddie got it for you for your last birthday. Often, you debated whether it was for his own, personal use.

You grabbed a magazine that was by your bed. After reading a couple pages you started chuckling lightly, "Hey Ed, get a load of this" you said, handing him the open magazine. "The devil has come to America. Dungeons and Dragons, once regarded as a harmless game of make believe now has both parents and psychologists concerned. Studied have linked violet behavior to the game, saying it promotes satanic worship, sodomy, suicide and even... Murder!" He read in a silly voice. "They've gotta blame someone, nerds are an easy target" you said, grabbing the magazine back. "Hey! D&D is not nerdy!" He defended himself and friends. "It involves weeks of planning, a mad amount of maths and smart, careful and calculated moves. It's totally nerdy" you said with a pointed looked. "Okay, so it's kind of nerdy, but it's cool! Escaping reality for a few hours, being the hero you wish you could be in life, it gives you a real break from everything" he said, you could tell how much he loved the game. "Well put, Munson, well put" you smiled and laid back on your bed, head hitting soft pillow.

You closed your eyes and listened to the music. "Don't go falling asleep on me, I'll have no one to talk to" Eddie said, laying back with you. "I won't" you said. You felt Eddie's rings brush against your hand, you felt brave and you intertwined your fingers with his. Even though you haven't opened your eyes, you could feel him looking at you. You sighed and opened your eyes, staring at the ceiling. "Y/n?" Eddie started carefully. "Please... Tell me what's wrong" you sighed, he could be insufferable at times. "Eddie I can't" you said, and sighed once again. "Why not princess?" He asked softy. "It would ruin everything" you squeezed his hand gently. "Nothing you do could ruin everything" he murmured. "Well it would." you said, letting go of his hand and sat up on the bed. He quickly sat up too, and you turned to him. His big brown eyes gazed into yours. "No it wouldn't" you said. "It would" you insisted. "No it wouldn't" he teased.

It quickly turned into a tedious game. Both of you insisted on your own opinion. "I'm not telling you Eddie! Enough is enough, please" you said in an outburst. "Oh. I should- um- I should go?" He said, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. "No, don't. Don't go, Eddie. Please. I'm sorry" you said and grabbed his shoulder lightly. "Why don't you trust me?" He asked, his tone was light but hurt. Almost a whine. "I do. But this is different. Please, just stay" you asked, he nodded but you could tell it was bothering him. You considered coming clean. You were friends with Robin Buckley, so it's not like you don't have anywhere else to eat if it didn't turn out well.

"Eddie. You have to promise me nothing will change" you crossed your legs and his were straight out in front of him. He turned his head to look at you. "I promise, princess." He said earnestly. "Well, I'm not sure how to say this. I really. I don't know." you sighed, deprecating yourself internally. You can't get the words together.

"Just say it bluntly. Best way. Rip the band-aid off!" You fiddled with the sleeve of your hoody. "okay. Eddie, I'm in love with you. There, I've said it. I'm sorry. I know I've ruined everything now, but I couldn't lie to you any more. You're my best friend. So can we forget this happened and just move on?" You rambled, once your rant was over you held your breath. You could feel your eyes watering a bit, you would not cry. "Forget? Move on? Princess, I can't do that" he said, your heart sped up insanely, what? "Why? Do you plan on torturing me?" You said, bringing your knees to your chest to make yourself smaller. He scooched closer to you a little.

"Yes" he said and leaned closer to you. He connected your lips in a soft kiss. Your heart rate quickened and your hand reached out to grab his jacket. His hands went to your waist and the kiss deepened. He manoeuvred you onto your knees and to straddle his lap, but you didn't sit on him. "Eddie, I don't want to..." You looked at his lap and back again him. "Oh, did u make you uncomfortable? I'm sorry" he said. "No no it's just- I don't want to crush your legs" you said, self consciously. "oh, baby. Is that what the hoody is about? You only wear this when you feel bad about yourself" he said, carefully gripping your hips. You nodded lightly. "Sit. You won't hurt me, I promise" you nodded and sat slowly on his legs. "There we go, sweetheart" he said encouragingly. You smiled lightly and wrapped your arms around his neck, leaning forwards and connecting your lips again. It felt so good to be able to touch, caress, and know that he feels the same. You let your hand run up his neck and fiddle with his hair. You felt his breath hitch and you grabbed a hand full of his hair and tugged lightly to test the waters. He moaned into your mouth. And oh. That noise. You wanted to hear that noise all the time. 24/7. You tugged again and Eddie responded by wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you in tighter.

You smiled into the kiss and pulled back to look into his eyes. "Eddie I-" you chuckled lightly and covered your face with your hands. "Yes, princess?" He asked, took your wrists and removed your hands from your face. "I didn't know you'd want to kiss me" you confessed. "Well, now you know, sweetheart." He said and stole another kiss. "You have no idea how long I've wanted this, Ed. I never expected it to happen. I feel like the luckiest person in the world" you sighed, there was a small voice in the back of your head, saying it was too much. You're laying it on too thick. But you had to let him know how much he means to you. "I think I've stolen that title, y/n" he said sweetly. "I have to be the luckiest man in the world to call myself y/n's boyfriend" that made you giggle lightly. "Boyfriend, huh? No big romantic proposal? Boyfriend just like that?" you teased him. "Ugh fine! Y/n L/n, will you give me the privilege of calling myself your boyfriend?" he asked in a posh voice. "Why, yes, of course kind sir. Nothing would make me happier"
