how's the marriage, moss boy?

Summary:

Now that they're married, Bdubs keeps expecting Impulse to finally kiss him - he's waited long enough, thank you very much! But Impulse just keeps blushing and running away, and Bdubs is frustrated so he goes to his best confidant - Grian.

Grian can't say anything, because he's almost-divorced with his own soulmate, so Bdubs can rant and complain as much as he wants.

Or so Bdubs thinks.

Work Text:

Bdubs watches with wide eyes as Impulse runs away again, as if he didn't just pick Bdubs up and spin him around. His heart is still hammering, so he can tell that Impulse is affected, but for some reason, the stupid man keeps running away from him! It’s almost worse than Etho, and Bdubs is just so angry!

There’s only one thing to do in such moments, so Bdubs sighs and saddles his horse to head to Grian’s base. The other man is his confidant (or more like Bdubs just entered his base while Grian was building and started to spill his frustrations - and everyone knew that while building, Grian will just listen to you), and so he needs to see Grian now, and tell him now amazingly annoying and precious Impulse is.

The whole way there, Bdubs keeps smiling and frowning in turns, because he’s frustrated, that’s true, but his soulmate is so precious and amazing, and he can still feel Impulse’s arms around his waist, hear his laughter (warm and bright and so soothing), and it’s impossible not to smile.

However, the closer he gets to Grian’s base, the more frustrated he gets - because it’s been weeks now, since they got married, and all Bdubs wants is a kiss! That’s all! A little kiss, maybe a bit more than a peck…

Well, he actually wants so much more than that, but that’s so not the point right now.

He’s already worked up when he arrives, and he doesn’t even pause before entering, because by now Grian is always expecting Bdubs to come, even if the others don’t know about it, and he knows the other man enough to expect him to be up.

That ends up being a mistake.

“Grian!” Bdubs yells as soon as he enters the freshly-finished building. “Grian, he did it again, I’m gonna kill someone soon!”

Silence answers him, but Bdubs is frustrated and he wants some of Impulse’s kisses, damn it, he can be excused. Instead of stopping, he storms upstairs, growling low in his throat.

“You won’t believe what he did again, again I say! He picked- He picked me up, Grian, and did the whole romantic spin, and he-”

That’s when Bdubs actually stops his pacing around the room and looks at the only bed, standing in the corner, surrounded by freshly made blankets, a red jumper lying on the floor, along with some…familiar clothes.

Scar’s clothes.

Bdubs stares, because that’s all he can do. For once in his life, he’s speechless, because he’s been coming to Grian for weeks, and the whole server knows that something is up with him and Scar, and everyone knows that they’re not…right.

Or so they thought.

Because just in front of Bdubs’ eyes, Grian is cuddled up to Scar’s side, the sheets bunched around their waists which exposes their naked backs and torsos. Grian’s wings are spread and covering them in a mass of purple feathers (and gods, it’s been so long since Bdubs caught a glance of this color, and Scar just gets to see it… Maybe they all have it wrong about those two).

“Hmm?” comes a low hum from the bed, and Bdubs snaps to attention again, just as Grian rises on one elbow, twisting to see behind him. “Bdubs? What-?”

“Impulse!” Bdubs repeats immediately, back to being frustrated. “I’m very happy for you for finally getting over your divorce, but you need to listen to this, Grian-”

The other man groans and falls back against Scar’s side, hiding his face in his neck, but Bdubs can spy a small smile on Grian’s face, so he smirks and gets right back to the business of complaining.

He so does love his soulmate, how could he not, but Impulse is surprisingly…easy to startle and very skittish, and Bdubs is bold and loud about what he wants, and he just doesn’t know how to be more clear that he wants to kiss Impulse.

Preferably as soon as possible.

“-and I even used The Look on him!” Bdubs stresses, because it’s mad that his precious soulmate hasn’t noticed anything.

“The look?” Grian questions sleepily, still not turning to face Bdubs.

Bdubs groans and throws his arms up. “You know? The Look,” he presses.

“Oh!” Scar snaps his fingers, suddenly interesting himself into the conversation. “Yeah, The Look, I get it! It works, like, all the time here, right Grian-”

Before Bdubs can start screaming, Grian hisses and slaps a hand over Scar’s mouth, only to melt into putty when Scar turns his head and kisses his palm. Bdubs wants to groan or disappear, or finally get his hot and precious soulmate to kiss him.

Grian and Scar are being cute and domestic. Grian and Scar!

It’s a crime that Impulse still insists on running away every time Bdubs makes a move, or invites him to make a move, because they’re gonna be on red before Bdubs manages to kiss his damn soulmate.

“You guys suck,” he announces, and then storms out of the base, pretending he can’t hear Grian and Scar laughing at him.

Bdubs sighs and gets on his horse again, a smile in the corner of his lips. He’s going to see Impulse soon, and maybe finally get the man to kiss him silly, like Bdubs deserves to be kissed.

Maybe.
