Work Text:
It’s 1 AM when there’s tapping on the window.
Billy frowns as he sits up, throwing the covers off his body to walk over to it. He pushes his curtains open and his eyes fall on none other than his pretty boy boyfriend standing at the bottom with rocks in his hands. He drops them and waves his hands like a madman.
“What the—“ Billy shoves his window up. “What’re you doing here, Harrington? We’ve talked about this.”
But then Steve smiles and goddamn it, how can Billy really be mad?
“Can I come up?” Steve asks loud enough for only Billy to hear him. The curly haired boy glances over his shoulder at his door and rushes over to lock it, then returns to motion for Steve to come up.
Steve manages to climb up like a monkey and lands on his feet with a grin. “Hey, baby.”
Billy crosses his arms. “Harrington, you can’t be here. We agreed—“
“I parked down the street and I made sure no one saw me. It’s late and no one is up at this time. I wanted to see you.” Steve explains and walks up to him with a fond smile, reaching up to cup his face in his hands.
Billy sighs. “If my dad finds you—“
“If your dad finds me here, I’ll give him the ass kicking I’ve been itching to.” Steve says.
Billy gives him a look and Steve shrugs. “Look, I promise to be quiet, okay? I just—can I hold you for a while?”
Billy stares at him, watching Steve’s lips quirk up into a smile and Billy puffs out a quiet laugh. “You’re so fucking corny, pretty boy.” He murmurs.
Steve grins. “Yeah, but you love it.” He replies and leans in to catch Billy’s lips in a soft kiss. Billy hums against him and fists Steve’s shirt to pull him closer. They stand there for a few minutes, making out languidly and relishing in the touches of one another.
They break apart and Steve exhales. “Can we lay down?”
Billy nods as he intertwines their fingers together to lead them over to his bed. Steve toes off his shoes, jeans, shirt and leaves himself in his t-shirt and boxers. Billy lays down after pushing his blankets aside and Steve follows, pulling him in by his bare waist as he tangles their legs in a flimsy mess.
Billy slides a hand up and down Steve’s arm and brings the other to Steve’s chin, running a thumb across his bottom lip.
Steve squeezes his waist and leans in to kiss him again. Billy slides the hand on Steve’s arm up to his hair and cards his fingers through the soft locks, hiking a leg up to his hip and wants more, but he stops because he knows they can’t risk it with his father just down the hallway.
So instead, they rest their foreheads against one another and breathe each other in.
“I wish you could stay the night.” Billy whispers. Steve nods in understanding. “I know. Me, too. But don’t worry about that right now. Get some sleep.” He replies in the same tone.
“I was until you woke me up.” Billy teases quietly.
Steve grins lightly and leans up to kiss his forehead, sliding his hand down to pat Billy’s ass playfully. “Yeah, right. I love you.”
Billy hums. “Love you, too.”
And in the next few minutes, Steve watches Billy fall back asleep to the feeling of his fingers running up and down his spine softly. He stays for another hour before pressing another kiss to his forehead, then untangles himself from Billy despite not wanting to. Steve makes a promise to himself that he’s going to get Billy out of all of this and take him back to California where he knows he’ll be happy and free from that asshole father of his.
Steve pushes Billy’s curls back, draws the blankets up his body, and sneaks back out through the window to leave.
