Home sweet Home

Summary:

Vegas, Pete and Macau move to the safehouse to live their lives.

Real talk, this was entirely self indulgent fluff that I accidentally wrote plot into and will not be continuing unless I am struck by some kind of lightning bolt of inspiration.

Thanks so much for reading and for all your love and kind comments <3

Chapter Text

The car came to a slow stop in front of the lakehouse. Pete turned off the ignition and paused a moment to take in the building he'd been held captive in only two short months ago. He never imagined he'd return to this place, let alone with his newfound family. So much had happened here, his emotions felt like a whirlpool that threatened to suck him down into the depths of darkness.

A rap on the window snapped him out of his musings.
"C'mon brother in law!" Macau was already out of the car and smiling through the window at him.
"Let's get unpacked!"

Pete nodded and smiled cheerfully before turning to his other passenger. His smile softened as he gently took Vegas' hand and studied the expression on his lover's face. Vegas sharp features were calm, but Pete had learned to recognise when his guard was up.

"Are you okay?" Pete asked, slowly rubbing the back of Vegas' hand with the pad of his thumb.

"Are you sure you want to be here? I put you through so much in this place..." Vegas' voiced trailed off he looked down, his eyebrows furrowed in concern, unable to meet Pete's gaze.

Pete again grinned his signature toothy smile and moved his hand to Vegas' cheek. He gently turned his face to look at him. His chest tightened when he saw the pain in Vegas' eyes.
"I told you. I want to follow my heart, and my heart is with you. Wherever you are, that's where I want to be." He pulled Vegas closer to him and planted a soft kiss on his lips. He felt Vegas' lips twist into a smile and his arms wind around his neck, pulling Pete deeper into the kiss. For moment, it felt like nothing existed but the two of them.

"Aiii come on you two!" Macau slammed his hands on the hood of the car, breaking the two out of their reverie. "I really can't leave you alone for five minutes sheesh."

Vegas laughed as Pete blushed and quickly opened the door and exited the car. He opened the door and moved to step out but before his feet could touch the ground Pete was there to grab his arm.
Vegas instinctively tried to shake him off and grimaced as the quick movement caused his wounds to throb.
Pete frowned and put his arm around Vegas back to support him.
"Really, I know you want to do everything yourself but you have to take it easy. You're still recovering."
"M'fine" Vegas grumbled but submitted, leaning into Pete's hold. Once standing, Pete retrieved their bags from the boot and smiled at him once more. Vegas felt as though his heart would burst when he looked at him that way. "How could I be this lucky?" He thought to himself.

Pete took Vegas' hand and gazed at him lovingly, his eyes sparkling.
"Home sweet home."
