Unfortunately, it had been months. Months since the last time he'd been able to go and see Werewolf.
He hadn't even been able to send a message to him either. It was a good thing he told him before he left that this mission might take a while, but he hadn't expected it to take this long.
He hadn't expected to end up defecting from the cookies of darkness, either. He'd gotten lucky though, and had been able to cast his cursed sword aside.
He'd yet to find a new weapon, but luckily he'd managed just fine so far. He was careful as he walked between the trees, looking for hide or hair of his partner. Were they partners still, even? Had they been partners? They hadn't talked about it much, to be fair. Both of them were quiet naturally, and just enjoyed the comfort of each other. Choco had actually saved Werewolf once, from a trap, and that's how they'd met. Wolf was surprised he hadn't run away, considering he'd been in his werewolf form. Choco, for his part, hadn't minded. He'd simply needed help, and if he was attacked, well, then he was attacked.
What else could he do?
He hadn't really cared about much back then, including his own life, although he'd kept going.
Eventually, they'd started meeting up more and more.
Now, Choco was looking for a new home, although he didn't quite realize it yet.
So he walked softly and carefully through the trees, wondering if Wolf was even around today. Sometimes he went off hunting when his stores gotten low. He hated doing so but he needed to eat. Everyone did.
He heard a rustling off to the side, and paused, looking at the bush.
"Wolfy, is that you? Or are you some random animal?"
After a moment the rustling started again, and a large sugar bear popped out of the bush. They didn't look like a full grown adult…. But they were definitely bigger than choco and they did not look friendly.
"Ah, well, your not my friend,"
Choco reached for a sword that wasn't there as the bear growled at him.
"Oh. Yeah that's right, I left my sword behind. Time to run off then, see you never,"
He said before starting to sprint away.
Unluckily for him, this was the wrong move.
The bear gave chase.
Choco was, luckily, faster than the bear, not by a lot. They were quickly catching up to him.
"This is not how I expected today to go,"
Choco said to himself before skidding to a halt.
A wide river. He'd come up to the river, in a spot he couldn't cross. If he tried to swim he'd get soggy and crumble before getting to the other side. And the bear was almost on top of him too, coming up fast.
Until it wasn't.
Something came from the side and crashed into the bear full force, causing it to bellow.
Werewolf cookie!
The fight didn't last very long, since they were both about the same size. The bear didn't want to fight for the cookie prey when he realized the Werewolf wasn't going to go down easily. Better to leave and hunt another day then to win but be wounded, possibly jeopardizing the future.
Choco swiftly went over to the wolf cookie, hugging him tightly. The wolf had probably been awoken seeing him being chased, and came out to defend him.
Few realized this but Werewolf cookie wasn't just one person. There was the cookie, and the wolf inside. They were almost one and the same, it could also be described as the wolf instincts seeming like their own being. The wolf had claimed Choco as his mate, but the two cookies had been taking things a bit slower to be safe.
"You don't know how happy I am to see ya,"
He said softly as he nuzzled his face into the fur of the wolf, who made soft, happy noises. Another moment, and the wolf was gone, choco now hugging the smaller cookie.
"Why were you gone so long?!? I know you said a while but that was entirely too long, we couldn't stop pacing,"
"I'm sorry, a lot has happened though wolfy. I'm no longer trapped under that cursed sword. Which is why I currently don't have a weapon. We were taken back to the cacao kingdom, that's where she told us to go."
He pulled back a little and smiled at the other cookie.
"I'm free now though. That sword can't make me hurt anyone else. It even wanted me to attack you on occasion. Once I dropped the sword I've been making my way back here. I'm sorry it took so long, I had to be careful,"
He continued to explain.
"Let's get you back to my place, ok? You looked like you could sleep for a week. Once you're rested we can go over everything that happened, if you want to, ok? I'm glad that sword is gone though,"
He said softly, smiling wide.
"Now neither one of us is cursed. I have to thank you everyday for helping me realize my wolf half wasn't bad."
"I'm grateful you eventually listened,"
Choco said before yawning.
"That you didn't push me away too much in the beginning,"
"I felt a kinship choco, you know that. Wolf instincts kept yelling that you were safe. I couldn't ignore them. You saved us from a trap that probably would have killed us, and you didn't run away once we were free either,"
"I had to bandage you up,"
"You didn't, which is exactly why I feel safe with you,"
By this point they were back at the little cottage werewolf had made for himself in the woods, and he opened the door.
"You saw that side of me and didn't fear it. You accepted it, and me."
"You accepted me, blood thirsty curse and all,"
Wolf laughed, smiling, as he gently pushed Choco down so he was sitting on the couch.
"We all have our demons, and you've finally gotten the strength to cast them aside. I'm proud of you Choco,"
He said softly before sitting down next to the other cookie, snuggling close.
They stayed like that for a while, content.
