“I know it took a lot to let me in, now let me stay…”
Annika speaks softly, arms tight around Raffaela even as the light begins to dim around them. It’s slipping toward night but even now in the sunset, Raffaela shines like the sun. She’s quiet, staring at the shared graves of their sons.
“What about the way your friends would look at me… look at me…”
Raffaela speaks softly, her grip tightening on Annika, holding tight to the one bright spot in her light. She can feel Annika trembling, gasping when Annika finally turns her, the light in Annika’s eyes is bright, a spark of raw love and anger, anger that shines so deep that the kiss that follows is almost rough.
“All I need is here, all I want is here, I'd give anything to make you see…”
Annika’s breath hitches as she speaks, her voice dipping.
“With nowhere to hide there's a whole other side, that we reveal…And all that it took was the courage to look, for something real.”
Words that Raffaela had spoken the night they saw through Annika’s husband, words that had lead them here and Raffaela half-chokes on her breath, pulling Annika closer, her grip tightening as they kiss, deeply, even as the night lights start to flicker on, the slow dawning of the lights seeming to echo her thoughts.
“Looking in your eyes, makes me realise, there are better days in front of me…”
The words are soft, echoes of every time they’ve ever talked, ever shown love, echoing in the words. Annika’s smile is small, nervous and Raffaela sighs as she kisses Annika again.
“We both start again, right here and now…”
Annika’s words are soft, a reminder of where they begin and Raffaela beams at her, her voice light and warm.
“All I want is now, all I know is now, I am ready waiting by your side.”
They walk together then, Annika’s arm tight around Raffaela’s waist, a promise that even now she isn’t giving up on them, even when Raffaela needed reminding how much she means.
