Chapter Text

Wounded

It was cold, damn cold.

Everything looked so normal for the conditions that prevailed there just a few days ago.

Hundreds of demobats chasing Dustin and Eddie, hundreds of demobats that Eddie wanted to stop to give his friends more time.

The demobats who attacked and mauled Eddie.

The Demobats who left him to die.

The demobats who lay dead on the floor for days, like him.

But something was different...

because he woke up.

Eddie's eyes shot open, his pulse racing in comparison to before.
He scanned the area he was in and it came back to him.

The whole Vecna thing.

He tried to sit up and immediately pain shot through his entire body.
The burning pain on his neck, the hellish pain on his upper body and the strange feeling in his legs.
Just everything hurt.

But finally he managed to sit up, then he looked at the surroundings.

All the dead demobats lying around him didn't make things any better.

He managed to get to his feet.

Suppressing the stinging pain, he held one of his sides and felt his shirt soaked with his own blood.

Limping, he walked a few feet before reaching to his neck to search for his necklace, but it was no longer there.

Had he lost it? Given it to whom?

He didn't knew.

Painfully he walked on, until he arrived at his trailer, demolished.

He dragged himself up the few steps and stumbled in, but then caught himself in time and  then looked down the hall and saw some light there.

He walked there and looked up and there it was

The gateway to the normal world, to Hawkins.

He had to get out of there, after all, he was shaking from the cold, the pain and all the blood loss.

Finally, he found an overturned chair, set it down appropriately, took a deep breath as best he could, and already he was taking a little more of a run-up and then, he jumped up the chair and clamped to the edge in a hell of a lot of pain, pulling himself up further and flying hard onto the floor on the other side, letting out a groan.

He looked around again as he stood back up and directly he felt more secure, safe given the circumstances.

What time was it, he wondered, what day was it, he wondered.

He scanned the calendar on a wall and that didn't really tell him anything either, so he kept walking and dragged himself to the door.

He opened it, though it resisted a bit, as if someone had blocked it from the outside, and that was partly the case.

When the door was finally open, Eddie noticed barrier tape, the kind the police always use.

He remembered slightly, his trailer was a crime scene.

He dragged himself down the small staircase and could just barely keep on his feet.

Hang in there, Eddie thought to himself, so he just kept walking, he had no particular destination, after all, he wouldn't know where to go.

He walked and walked, it was a real miracle that he could still stand at all, but somehow he made it.

After what felt like an eternity of Eddie walking down a street and being honked at by some motorists because he was walking down nearly in the middle of the street, he kept on walking anyway, towards town.

Then he saw it, he knew this store, he knew it because someone had once talked about it all the time.

So he walked there and weirdly it was very empty, must be Sunday, he thought to himself.

He pressed himself against the door and opened it like this and directly the door made a ringing sound.

,,Uh...hold on, I'll be right there..." Eddie heard a female voice call from further away, probably from the warehouse or something, so he went further into the store and leaned  himself against a shelf.

,,Okay...here I am, so how can I- omg Eddie?!" The girl came to a stop slightly in front of him, with her mouth open.

,,Hey..." His voice broke slightly, but still he managed to smile a bit at her.

,,You- I mean you were-" The girl stammered to herself and looked at him, stunned.

,,I just...need to recover for a minute..." He still gave her a slight smile before his legs gave way and he buckled slightly, but the short-haired girl caught him in time.

,,Is that blood? Omg that's blood..how are you? Are you in pain? You should go to the hospital..I'll call someone..I'll hurry.." She helped Eddie sit on the floor, ,,No...hospital.." He looked after her as she stopped, ,,Okay uh..oh I know, wait here." And off she sprinted.

Eddie looked after her and groaned briefly because of the pain that was getting stronger again, ,,Hang in there Eddie." She called over and made him smile slightly.

Shortly after, he heard a conversation, at least he heard her voice.

Muffled.

,,Ro...Robin..." He remembered her name while looking in her direction, but no answer.

,,Rob.." Eddie pulled himself back to his feet, but immediately regretted it again, as he held on something too tightly and so easily knocked the shelf over, causing it to fall to the floor, like him.

,,Omg! Hurry the hell up!" And with these words he heard quick footsteps and already he felt some arms around him.

,,He's on his way, I'll take you over there..." With effort she turned him a little on his back and pulled him slightly to a place where he could lean better.

Then she quickly straightened up and ran in one direction before coming back a moment later with a cloth and pressing it against Eddie's neck.

,,I'm just tired..." Eddie's eyes closed slightly, but Robin shook his shoulder, ,,Stay awake, Munson."

,,Just a quick nap..." He chuckled a bit, only causing him to caught out his own blood a bit.

,,Here..." She wiped away some of the blood with the cloth and shortly after, the doorbell sounded again.

,,Rob? So what's so important that I have to leave the kids alone?" A man's voice rang through the store, making Robin stand up again.

,,Dingus over here..." She waved her hand in the air a bit, which got his attention.

,,What the hell are you doing- is that blood?" He saw her hand that was slightly red, ,,God no I mean yes, but not mine..." She explained as he walked in their direction, ,,Is that...more blood?" He looked slightly at the ground.

,,Just move over here." and she was down again by Eddie who was barely awake by now.

,,Ok so if someone died here, I'm not responsible for it..not this time, not today..." He lightly ran his hand through his hair and followed the light trail of blood, coming closer and closer to them until he saw both of them, rather Robin, crouching lightly in front of someone.

,,Rob? What's going- who is that?" he looked at her.

She just moved to the side and brought Eddie out.

,,Steve...he's alive..." She looked from Eddie to Steve, who just stood there like he saw a ghost.

,,Eddie?“
