Dožínky

Summary:

Festivals were always fun for him, especially Dožínky, It gave him a chance to have some fun for a change. But that doesn't mean he lets his guard all the way down. Especially when people interfere in The Elite Hunting Club's business...

Notes:

Another scene written in Hostel 2 written in Desk Clerk Jedi's point of view. It's also a follow up to the previous Hostel fic.

Again, i'm using his actor's name since Eli Roth wasn't nice enough to give his character a name. 💔

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

He always looked forward to Dožínky whenever it came around. In fact, it was one of the few times he got to really loosen up and to have some fun. Sure he enjoyed his job greeting people, taking their passports to secretly sell them off later, but it was always good to take a break once in a while. The singing, dancing and people dressed up in colourful costumes really helped take his mind off of things. The only thing that the desk clerk was not liking right now, however was the cold. Milda wrapped his leather jacket more tightly around himself and then took a swig of his beer from his cup.

“Good business we are having lately.” stated one of his colleagues.“Tourists have just been swarming in like flies.”

He nodded. “Yeah. These girls that I checked in recently went for a big price each I heard.”

“American?” inquired the slightly lanky other man with glasses next to the man he was talking to.

The desk clerk nodded again, adjusting his glasses. The Elite Hunting Club never had a bad day when it came to business, but he had to agree with his friend that they had all struck gold with this sudden surge of tourists wanting to stay at their Hostel. Perhaps it was because they had redecorated and renovated the whole place to look as charming as possible. But mostly he knew it was thanks to Axelle for luring in hoards of unsuspecting people ripe for the bidding.

“Yes, good.” The man replied approvingly. “They will fetch a nice sum.”

The desk clerk hummed and took another swig of his drink. Just then he overheard the most particular conversation behind him;

“Hey.” greeted an eager sounding man.

“Hi.” replied a voice who he registered as Beth's.

“Would you like to dance with me?” the man asked.

Beth let out a series of awkward laughs. “Oh no thank you I'm not nearly drunk enough.”

Oh ouch. Milda thought to himself. That was so savage that I can feel that it even hurt me.

“Come on, I'll show you how. It's easy.” he persisted.

“No thank you, really, but my feet. I'm tired.” Beth said.

“Ah. I could have helped you,” he said, sounding defeated.

“Excuse me?” said Beth.

Without another word, the man walked away, Leaving Beth alone.

The desk clerk watched him go before making his way to her.

“Hey” he said.

“Hey.” greeted Beth with a smile.

“That guy make you some troubles?” he asked.

“No he's fine.” Beth said.

He smiled a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. “What he say to you?”

“Um, nothing. He just wanted to dance.” she replied.

“He won't bother you anymore.” he said, still grinning like a fox.

“Oh he wasn't bothering me.” she said, shaking her head.

He stared at her as if he were assessing her, his smile never leaving. This girl was smart and he could tell she was very aware of her surroundings and very wary of strangers. Something told him that she would be a hard target to take down, but he knew that in the end that they would win regardless on what the outcome may be. They always won. Sensing her growing discomfort, he offered her his drink.

“Here. Take a drink” he said politely.

Beth reluctantly took his cup. “Thank you.” she muttered.

“You're welcome.” he replied, slinking back to talk to his colleagues.

He knew exactly what that guy had said to Beth and would bring it up with the others as well as his boss. The man would be dealt with by them later. But for now, he focused on enjoying the festivities.
