Summary:

Starlight and Trixie are super close, and that's one reason on why they're best friends.
But when Starlight asks Trixie to be her girlfriend, they become closer.
Everything is great, only one tiny problem.
They haven't kissed.
And Trixie will not let that slide.

Little does she know that this Great and Powerful kiss will be tough to get.

Notes:

Randomly thought of this while trying to sleep so I stayed up all night writing about Startrix because they are everything.

Chapter Text

Trixie roughly knocked on the large beautiful purple door in front of her, wanting to get out of the cold as quickly as possible.
She wrapped herself in her usual star covered cape but it wasn’t warm enough to protect her from the snow everywhere.

Then a woman with long purple hair, red glasses that Trixie sometimes saw her wear, and a nice white sweater with blue jewels on it opened the door.

Trixie didn’t remember exactly how she ended up here.
She needed help with a problem, so she thought about who to ask for advice about Starlight, and obviously she couldn’t ask Starlight, even though Starlight is always the person she goes to for everything.

So Trixie had to go to her other friends, sadly, she knew Sunburst wouldn’t be much help, since he is more into his studies than romance.
There was Maud, and she gave a LOT of advice. About rocks.
Sadly Starlight is not a rock, she is a human, so all that good advice will soon just disappear in Trixie’s mind.

The Great and Powerful Trixie then knew she had to ask THEM for help.

But she already knew for a fact Twilight Sparkle is the last person to ever help with romantic issues. Could she help save Equestria? Yes. Could she help Trixie with her girlfriend? No.
She was literally the princess of PLATONIC relationships.

Trixie already knew Fluttershy would be too flustered to even try to help. Rainbow Dash would most likely laugh at Trixie’s pain. Trixie didn’t even have the energy to deal with Pinkie Pie.
And Applejack would.. Talk about apples? Trixie didn’t talk to her enough to actually know what she would have to offer, but just assumed that anything Applejack talks about is apple related.

So that left…

“Darling!” The woman brightly smiled at Trixie as she spoke.

Rarity.

Trixie should’ve known Rarity is the best option from the start, since she has a lot of dating experience, and is the one more into romance than anyone else in Ponyville.
Also Rarity was the least annoying to her so that is another reason she asked her for advice yesterday. The sudden question had Rarity confused, but she would never decline to help someone.
Rarity told Trixie she could come to Carousel Boutique for advice the next day.

And so the next day came along and here they were.

What could go wrong?

Trixie felt a hard wave of cold air hit her, causing her body to shiver. Rarity noticed.

“Oh Trixie! I’m so sorry, how rude of me, please come in” She spoke.
Before Trixie even got to step inside, Rarity already pulled her in, defending the woman from the cruel snow outside.

Trixie quickly felt the cold leave her body as a nice comforting warmth welcomed her as she entered deeper into Rarity’s home.

Rarity then closed the door, not wanting the warmth to be ruined by the cold outside.

Trixie turned around to face Rarity who was standing by the door.
“Um, thanks” She awkwardly said, unsure how to now bring up the topic she wanted to discuss.

Thankfully, Rarity knew how to do exactly that.

“Well you’re welcome Darling,” Rarity began, as she walked over to a nice table and sat down, “Now then, please, have a seat” She said, her finger pointing to the other chair across from her.

Trixie felt more nervous as she got closer to the seat. She then finally sat down.

She didn’t know if she was ready. Rarity didn’t care either way.
For talks like this, you can NEVER be ready.

Rarity took off her red glasses and gently placed them down on the table.
“So, Trixie Lulamoon,” Trixie gulped as she heard her full name be used by Rarity, she grew more anxious as Rarity grabbed a light purple teapot, and poured warm tea into two teacups, then carefully pushed one towards Trixie, “yesterday you informed me of your need for advice about dear Starlight” Rarity finished as she looked at Trixie

There it was.

Trixie felt her cheeks heat up as the topic actually started.
But she quickly snapped out of it.
She cleared her throat, and nodded.

“Yes, as you know, Starlight and I have been dating for two months,” Rarity nodded as she took a small sip from her tea, knowing this conversation may take a while, “And everything has been great, and powerful obviously, but I do have one tiny issue” Trixie blushed as she completed her sentence.

Rarity then raised an eyebrow, started to rest her head in her hands, “And that is?” She asked.

Trixie sighed.
“We haven’t kissed” She answered, feeling embarrassment wash over her.

Rarity’s eyes widened at the response.

Trixie then waved her hands to catch Rarity’s attention again.
“I mean we have kissed on the cheek, just not on the lips, and I’ve started to get… upset about that,” Trixie took a quick break to sip some of her tea, enjoying the nice quiet flavor, and now feeling prepared to somewhat open up to the woman across from her.

“I’ve been wanting to kiss her myself for a while, but I keep worrying if she isn’t ready yet, so I just waited until she would kiss me,” She continued, Rarity already knew what was going on, “But, two months later and nothing” Trixie said in a bitter voice.

Rarity nodded, “I see,” Rarity said, as she processed the information in her head, and tried to think of possible solutions. Trixie looked at Rarity like she was her last hope at getting to kiss Starlight. Such a cute yet sad face, Rarity thought.

“So, YOU are scared to kiss HER, and so we need HER to kiss YOU first, but she is taking quite a while to do it currently,” Rarity thought a little more, “What if…” She began to mumble, hoping she could think of something useful.

Then, it hit her.
Rarity’s eyes lit up as she looked at Trixie with a big smile.
“Have you tried…” Rarity started to speak, but her bright smile then slowly turned into a smirk, “Seduction?”

The room was filled with silence for a good 10 seconds after Rarity said that.

“What?” Trixie asked with a blank face.
Rarity rolled her eyes, keeping the smirk on her face while she did so.
She then leaned in closer to Trixie and whispered, “Seduction darling,” Rarity said quietly, Trixie was unsure why she was whispering but didn’t care enough to question it, “I’m sure if you give her some good signals,” Rarity winked, “She would be so amazed that she couldn’t help herself but kiss you, on the lips of course” She said.

Trixie still didn’t look impressed, but her cheeks were pink.
She looked at Rarity, “That could work, but,” Trixie spoke, Rarity then sat back down on her seat, and held her teacup in her soft hands as she listened, “Starlight recently has been too nervous to even hug me anymore, I doubt she would do anything big” She said with a frown.

Rarity felt a bit bitter herself as she heard that, feeling bad for Trixie.
Trixie then groaned, as she put her face in her hands in frustration.
“Sometimes it just gets so frustrating!” Trixie shouted, Rarity took a sip of her tea, and a sip of Trixie’s struggles with her lover, “I just wish she could grab me and kiss me and MAYBE FOR ONCE throw me onto her bed and-” “Trixie!” Rarity interrupted, making Trixie look up.

“My little sister is home so I would appreciate it if you saved your fantasies for later” Rarity angrily said.

Trixie gave her an awkward grin, “Sorry” She whispered.

She then sighed sadly as she looked down at the tea below her, looking at her reflection in the drink. “I just thought since we’re dating now, we would’ve gotten closer,” She said, making Rarity now feel sadness for her, “But it feels like we’re more distant than ever” Trixie said, her voice now serious and depressed. She lowered her classic star covered hat to cover her face.

Rarity felt terrible as she looked at the depressed woman in front of her.

She tried to think of something to say, and thankfully, she thought of just the thing.

Rarity leaned in once again to lift Trixie’s hat back up, now making eye contact with her.
She gave her a soft smile, which made Trixie feel safe even though Rarity and her didn’t usually get along.

Rarity sat back again, “Well my dear Trixie, Starlight has told me this is her first time dating somebody, so I’m certain she is terrified herself,” Trixie’s eyes widened, “I bet she wants to kiss you more than anything, I mean, she did ask you to be her girlfriend, did she not?” Rarity asked with a smile.

“Well yes, but-” Trixie then got interrupted, “Shh, no buts, she likes you, loves you even, so I assume she just has those same little annoying worries we all have when we think about a first kiss, like, Does she want to be kissed? What if my breath stinks? What if she doesn’t like it? What if she isn’t ready? And the list goes on” Rarity said, now taking a drink of her tea.

Rarity then looked at Trixie with a smirk, “Face it Trixie, she may have the courage to save Equestria from evil, but the courage to kiss a woman you love is harder to find” She informed the now surprised Trixie.

Trixie was shocked. She never thought of it like that.
Of course anyone would be nervous about that.
She knew she was for sure.

“Wow…” Was all Trixie managed to say to all that.

Rarity then remembered something important.
It was a secret but she was deciding if she should tell Trixie or not.
But quickly made a choice.

Rarity then smiled, “And since I am the element of generosity, allow me to share some information I think you’ll find lovely,” Trixie raised an eyebrow as she began to grow curious, “Twilight told me that Starlight has set up a romantic dinner in the castle for you two, alone tomorrow” Rarity excitedly said.

“Dinner?” Trixie asked, her face was a mix of confusion and boredom. Rarity gave her a nod as she took a sip from her tea again.

Trixie honestly wasn’t huge on romantic dinners.
As long as she had her peanut butter crackers, she was happy.

“So why is this dinner important?” She asked, still not understanding.
Rarity giggled at this, which made Trixie feel somewhat offended. Before Trixie could say anything, Rarity began to speak again, and tried to keep her giggles from escaping, “Oh Darling, the two of you will be ALONE, do I have to say more?” She said, giving Trixie a wink.

Trixie took five seconds to think then realization hit her, and her whole face went red.
Rarity smirked at the expected reaction.

Trixie then cleared her throat.

“So I do the seduction thing,” Trixie said.

Rarity nodded.

“And she’ll kiss me,” Trixie continued.

Rarity nodded.

“And it’ll be great and powerful?” Trixie asked.

Rarity nodded.

“And you’re actually good at advice?” Trixie asked with a smirk.

Rarity nodded and giggled.

Trixie smiled at this silly thing the two of them were doing, but realized Rarity gave her all the help she needed.

“Well,” Trixie got up from her seat, “I’ll be leaving now, thanks to you, I don’t think I’ll be worrying as much” She spoke, making Rarity smile as she too got up from her chair.

Rarity then led Trixie to the door and opened it for her.
“Be careful out there darling” She said as Trixie exited the home.

“The Great and Powerful Trixie can handle a little snow, bye Rarity!” She said, as she struggled to walk in the snow below her.

“Oh Trixie!” Rarity yelled out, making Trixie turn her head to look back at the woman.
“If you do well at the seduction plan, then I’m sure you’ll get your kiss and your little fantasy you were gonna tell me earlier to come true” She said with a wink as she closed her door.

Even though snow surrounded Trixie, she felt so warm after hearing that, and stayed warm the whole way back home.
