"So there's gonna be a meteor shower in the next couple of days?"
Sitting behind her desk Cyellne looks at me and nods her head. "Yes, Irene. This meteor shower only happens once every 10 years or so according to our resources."
I look at the Captain confused. "Though what does this have to do with the Survey Corps and me?"
Cyellne just sighs and looks me in the eye. "You are our most accomplished member and Professor Laventon wishes to know if the meteor shower does anything to the Pokemon. Your job would be to find out if there are any effects from the meteor shower on the local Pokemon."
Protesting, "But Captain I'm just one survey member! I can't possibly do the entire region by myself?!"
She just looks at me, "You didn't let me finish. You will be exploring The Coronet Highlands. Rei, Akari, and several others will be exploring the different areas."
Pacified by that only a little, "But Captain-"
Cyellne immediately interjects, "I hear the Fabled Spring is very beautiful at night, and coincidentally the night of the meteor shower there will be a full moon. So perhaps you and Adaman, if he has the time, will spend the evening there."
I immediately balk, "Wha- What are you talking about…"
She just lightly smirks at me and leans back in her chair. "I did overhear that he offered to accompany you during your trip for the week in the Mirelands and by the end of it you both came back with MATCHING Togepi's. Or did I hear wrong?"
Blushing furiously I duck my head to the side, "You heard correctly Captain…"
"Also Mai and Arezu wouldn't shut up about you two finally admitting your feelings for each other."
I facepalm at that. "Of course, they wouldn't. They heckled us for the entire week I was there…"
I get the shock of my life at this comment. I hear something I have never heard before in my life. I hear Captain Cyellne laugh.
Staring at her in shock I say nothing until she calms down.
"Irene, a majority of both the village and clans had a bet going when Adaman and you would finally get together."
I don't even say anything, I'm just staring at her. I'm shocked. Finally, I find my voice again. "BETS?!" I shriek out.
Cyellne answers, "Yes Irene. We took bets. And I'll be pleased to say that I and Professor Laventon won. There was a reason -besides needing the information for the Pokedex- we sent you off for the week to study Togepi."
I sputter in shock but before I can say anything else.
"Now you have your orders. You are to go to the Coronet Highlands to study the meteor shower and its potential effects on the local Pokemon and report it for the Pokedex."
She then drops the serious tone and adds on. "Also do ask Adaman to go with you. I heard the Fabled Spring can be a wonderful place for a date." She shoos me out of her office after that.
Line break
I wander out of the Galaxy headquarters in a daze. I just slowly wander up the street until I hear a voice.
"Irene. Irene!"
Snapping out of my daze I turned my head in the direction of whoever was calling me. Standing farther down the road making their way up to me was Adaman.
He's smiling and waving at me and I just melt at the sight of my boyfriend. 'Shit. I love him so much.'
Smiling softly at him I make my way over to him. "Hi, Adaman. What are you doing in Jubilife today?"
He smiles at me "Can't I see my favorite person? Do I need a reason to come see you?"
I blush and make a move to grab his hand but abort it because I still have my earlier meeting with Cyllene running through my head.
But before I can pull my hand back, Adaman reaches out and laces our fingers together and pulls me gently into his side, and hugs me.
"Hey. Irene, what's wrong?" Adaman asks me a bit worried.
Looking up at him I smile softly at his concern and without thinking I stretch up and peck him on the cheek. "Nothing's wrong, I just had an interesting talk with the Captain earlier. She knows about us now and people had bets on whether we would get together."
Adaman just nods at that until he registers the second half of what I said. "BETS?! Are you serious?" He's looking at me incredulously.
Pouting "See that was my reaction and also Mai and Arezu blabbed about us finally getting together."
Groaning loudly, Adaman runs his free hand down this face and mutters under his breath. "I swear those two are going to be the death of me."
"Also apparently with the upcoming meteor shower, Cyllene wants me and several others of the Survey Corps to go out and observe and see if it has any effects on the local Pokemon for the areas."
Adaman deflates at that. "I was gonna ask you if you would be willing to watch the meteor shower with me that night…"
Stepping from his side I move to stand in front of him and I grasp his other hand in mine and squeeze them both. "Well, you might like this then. Cyllene gave me the Coronet Highlands and she quite firmly recommended that I be in their Fabled Springs to observe the meteor shower. And she even said that if you had time you could come with me… You don't have to if you don't want to but since you said you were gonna ask me I thought-"
Adaman leans down and kisses me on the forehead and moves to quickly peck me on the lips to hopefully stop my rambling.
He rests his forehead on mine and just smiles so softly at me. "Yes, I would love to go with you.
I duck my head into his chest and he wraps his arms around me and rests his head on mine. "Sorry for rambling…"
I feel him shake his head, "Don't apologize to me for that Irene. Never apologize to me for you being you. It's why I adore you so much."
Smiling shyly I nuzzle into him and whisper back, "I adore you too. I am so grateful to have you in my life right now. I don't know what I would do without you right now."
He chuckles and moves his head off mine and I feel him press a kiss onto the top of my head.
He slowly pulls back just enough to still be holding me in his arms but enough that he can stare down at me.
"I hate to tell you this Irene but for the next few days I'll be helping with clan stuff for the next few days…"
As I pouted at him he quickly reassured me, "It doesn't mean I won't be able to spend time with you for the meteor shower! I just need to do clan stuff so I can spend the time with you okay?"
Still pouting at him, "Okay Adaman…"
He just about melts and leans down to kiss me on the lips softly.
Resting his forehead against mine, "You know how hard it is to go my dear? I just wanna spend all my time with you but I can't…"
Reaching my hands up I cup his cheeks and he just sighs and nuzzles into me.
Sighing softly "You have to go now don't you…" I don't even ask it as a question I just know.
He looks a little sad "Yeah. But don't you worry I'll be thinking about you the whole time and when I get to see you for the meteor shower I'll get to have you all to myself for it."
Blushing slightly, I kiss the cheek. "Well, then Clan Leader you best be going to get your work done so we can have our date then."
I lightly dance out of his shocked arms and giggle at the expression on his face. It's a look of shock. "Though I find it funny I got to ask you out for a date first Adaman."
Quickly before I lose my nerve I take off running towards the pastures.
Adaman is still standing there in shock, mutters under his breath, and gets a fond look on his face.
"That woman is going to be the death of me."
I'm surprised I managed to wake up this early for today but I was so excited that I had the hardest time sleeping. Finally, today was the day that I got to see Adaman again. The past few days of not being able to see him hit me hard. I have been so used to his presence that not having him there threw me for a loop.
"Nine!!!" Nix nuzzling into my legs snaps me out of the daze that I am in.
Smiling down at my best friend "Thanks girl." I reached down and I gently pet the curls on her head.
Standing up straight "Ready to come with me to see Adaman?"
Nix yips softly and she follows me as we leave Jubilife Village.
Over the next several hours we make our way across Hisui and finally, after midday we finally reach the foothills of the Coronet Highlands.
When we made it to the base camp Nix and I rested for a while.
"Man, we made good time. Now time for some lunch and hopefully Adaman will show up soon. I think we are early Nix."
We have our lunch and then since I didn't quite know when Adaman was gonna show up I lay down with Nix under the shade of the trees and take a nap.
Some hours later I feel myself slowly being gently rocked awake and I mumble and turn over.
I faintly hear a chuckle and then I feel slightly chapped lips press a kiss to my cheek.
"Irene, it's time to get up."
"But I'm comfy…" I mutter.
"If you don't get up then we can't see the meteor shower together tonight."
Whining I finally force myself to sit up and I rub my eyes.
I turn my head and I see Adaman sitting on the ground next to me with a fond look on his face.
"Did you have a nice nap?"
Blushing softly "Yes… would have been better if you were here with me though…"
He barks out a laugh at that and leans over to kiss me gently on the lips.
"Next time you are feeling like having a nap then I'll be there to take one with you."
Turning an even brighter red I gently shove him. "Stop teasing me."
He laughs and brings me into his chest. "For you, I would."
Embarrassed, I nuzzle into his chest to hide my face. "Really?"
He stares down at me fondly. "Yes, Irene I very much would. Now we got to get a move on. We need to be at the Fabled Springs before the shower starts."
Jumping to my feet I drag him up with me in my excitement.
"LET'S GO! LET'S GO!"
He's laughing with me and soon we are running hand in hand through the Highlands.
The sun was almost down past the horizon when we finally made it to the Spring.
We make a way past the Clefairys and we find the perfect spot that looks out over the spring that gives us a clear view of the sky.
"Wow. I have been here so many times during the day but this place feels magical right now." I mutter in awe of my surroundings.
Adaman, who admittedly wasn't looking at the scenery at all, was looking at me "...yeah…"
I turn to Adaman and smile warmly at him. "Thank you for coming with me."
Adaman looks at me as the moon is starting to rise and all he can think is, 'She is so beautiful.'
He walks up to me and wraps one arm around my waist and the other cups my cheek.
"You are so beautiful my Star…" and he leans down to gently kiss me.
Kissing him back softly we don't even notice as the meteor showers start. All we can focus on is each other.
