Chapter Text
Summer vacation was coming near an end. Just a couple more days until it was time to go back to school. Some people were happy that they could see their friends again at school after a long summer, but others, like Anakin Skywalker, would rather jump off the school instead of sitting inside it.
Anakin spend his summer in his bedroom doing nothing beside watching tv, playing video games, smoking and doing drugs. The only "useful" thing he did was installing a lock on his door, his mother Shmi on the other hand hated it.
Whatever Shmi did, she couldn't get the boy out of his room. Only 17 years old and she already lost him. At the age of 15 Anakin was told he had depression. Not a lot of people knew why he was depressed, he had two parents, a half-brother, an adopted younger sister and a step-brother. Anakin was depressed because he was just the brother of Obi-Wan, the great athlete of their town. Anakin always liked to wear darker clothes, but everyone called him a "geek" and laughed at him for it.
So now he was depressed and alone. He shut everyone out so nothing would hurt him. He got his ears pierced, another piercing at his bottom lip and he dyed his hair black. He also wore black eye make-up and only black and dark grey clothes, never a bit of color, not even dark blue.
Padmé Amidala was more excited than ever for Junior year in high school. She cared about what people thought of her. Padmé was in the student council and an A+ student. She was the top of her class and was loved by everyone.
Padmé spend her summer with her parents and sister at their lake house in Naboo. When Padmé was 3 years old they moved to Corusant, but they kept their lake house so they could go there in summer. Only in the last two weeks Padmé would be home, and she planned it full with her friends.
"Can you just take him for these last two weeks? Two weeks is all I'm asking. I don't know what to do with him anymore, and I got a trip planned for a week with Cliegg. Please Qui-Gon, just take him. He's your son." Shmi says over her phone.
She was standing at the kitchen counter and didn't hear Anakin walking inside.
"So you wanna get rid of me?" Anakin says
"Ani." Shmi says when she turned around.
"You haven't seen me all summer and now you just want to send me off?" Anakin says
"It's just to your father." Shmi says
"I don't care!" Anakin says
"Anakin." Shmi says
"I just wanted a new glass, this one is dirty." Anakin says and grabbed a glass from the cupboard.
An hour later Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan walked inside the house. Shmi told them the way to Anakin's room. The two walked outside and walked up a small stairs. Anakin's bedroom was in the guest house, ever since Anakin became a teenager he has been going crazy about privacy. The guest house was build above the garage so Anakin had all the space he needed.
Qui-Gon tried opening the door but it was stuck. Knocking didn't work either since Anakin was laying on his bed smoking and listening to music with his headphones on.
Shmi sat inside the main house drinking her coffee. She looked out of the window and saw her step-son swimming with his girlfriend. She also saw Qui-Gon carrying a ladder. Shmi quickly put her cup down and walked outside to follow him.
"What are you doing?" Shmi asks
"He locked his door." Qui-Gon says
"Since when does he have a lock?" Obi-Wan asks
"He installed it himself, that's the only thing he did all summer." Shmi says
Qui-Gon placed the ladder under the balcony and climbed up. For his luck the door was unlocked and he went inside.
"This smell is unbearable." Qui-Gon says
He saw his son sleeping on the bed. On the nightstand he saw an ashtray with smoked up cigarettes inside and a pack of new cigarettes beside it.
"You're ruining your body." Qui-Gon says
Anakin didn't move or open his eyes. Qui-Gon rolled his eyes and pulled the headphones of his head. Anakin slowly opened his eyes and sat up. Qui-Gon unlocked his door and let Shmi in.
"If he continues like this, he will die of cancer before he's thirty." Qui-Gon says
"What?" Anakin says sleepy while rubbing his eyes.
"I just don't know what to do." Shmi says
"What are you doing in my room?" Anakin asks
"You need to clean up, now pack a bag." Qui-Gon says and tossed a bag on Anakin's bed.
"What are you doing here?" Anakin says, he got up and started to shove his parents out of his room. "This is my room! Get out!"
"Anakin." Shmi says
"Out! Now!" Anakin yells and shut his door as soon as they were out.
"You get ten minutes to pack that bag or I'll take you without it!" Qui-Gon yells back
"See what I've been dealing with?" Shmi says
"Have you tried therapy?" Qui-Gon asks
"He refused to go." Shmi says
Ten minutes later Anakin walked downstairs with his bag. He had put on some eye make up and his piercings.
"You let him wear all this?" Qui-Gon says
"I can't handle him anymore, he does whatever he wants." Shmi says
"No, you just can't say no to him." Qui-Gon says, "Get in the car and take off the make up and piercings.
"No." Anakin says and stepped inside the car.
"Remember the time when he was just a cute little 6 year old?" Qui-Gon says
"Yeah." Shmi says
"I preferred that time." Qui-Gon says and stepped inside the car as well.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan live in the small town of Tatooine. The reason Anakin lives with his mother is because Tatooine is almost fully on the beach, and Anakin hates sand. Also Anakin doesn't like to move much, it messes him up. He prefers to be in one place only.
Tatooine wasn't far from Corusant. Obi-Wan still went to school with Anakin. The house Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan lived in was only a couple steps from the water, it was fully on the beach like almost all the houses in Tatooine. The roads were mostly made of wooden planks and rocks.
"I hate this town." Anakin mutters in the back seat.
"Almost there." Qui-Gon says
Once they arrived Anakin stepped out of the car and straight into the sand.
"Once the two weeks are over I'll run home if I have to." Anakin says and walked inside the house.
