Jin can’t stop thinking about that stupid dopey look on Kagura’s face when he was asked out. Jin didn’t even realize that Kagura was into men at all. Much less himself of all people. Of course Jin had been told that he was attractive, but he figured those women had ulterior motives.
He was so utterly caught off guard by Kagura's request that he stormed out of the office. After becoming a stuttering mess in front of Kagura and Hibiki of course. He could’ve swore he heard Hibiki stifling a chuckle as Jin slammed the door behind him.
He’d never even thought of Kagura in that way. Of course he was a fairly attractive man, but all of his womanizing and flirting truthfully turned Jin off quite a bit. After finding out that he was able to defeat Ragna, Jin had his eye on Kagura more. Jin likes to tease Ragna about it every now and again but knowing that Kagura was able to best him sparked an interest within Jin.
Jin had started to notice him a lot more after that. Even stealing looks at him during NOL events he attended. Regardless, Jin definitely did not want Kagura to flirt and use pick up lines he’d used on countless people. His confidence was admirable at least. Jin could admit that. Even when getting rejected, Kagura seemed to get even more attracted to his target. Jin noticed that as well.
He wondered about that. He also wondered about the party they went to, when Kagura kept finding Jin and stealing him away to flirt. Jin didn’t realize it was real flirting at the time. He figured Kagura was one of those types Makoto talked about. The type of person who’s naturally flirty towards everyone.
After hearing Kagura ask him out, Jin finally noticed that he was actually for real flirting all those other times.
Embarrassed and face fully red, Jin stormed back down the long hallway to Kagura's office. He pushed the heavy wooden door open hard with one arm and stomped right over to Kagura's desk.
At the sudden noise, Kagura looked up from his paperwork. His bewildered expression softened into a smug smile. Jin’s gloved fists were closed so tight that it hurt. He stared daggers into Kagura. Determination built up from intense rumination.
“KAGURA! -“ Jin started, quite loudly. So loud that it echoed in the large room. Kagura almost flinched, he wasn’t expecting Jin to be that loud. He remained quiet so Jin was forced to say more. After a moment of looking at the floor, Jin spoke once more.
“I- I’ll…I a-accept your…offer…” Jin could barely get the words out. He felt defeated and humiliated. He’d finally worked up enough nerve to accept Kagura's date invitation. And he robotically got enough words out.
Kagura looked as if he was holding back a goofy smile. He eventually looked satisfied that Jin wanted to go on a date with him and smiled smugly once more.
“ See , jinny? Now that wasn’t so hard was it?” Kagura teased while resting his cheek on his hand.
Jin hated that nickname. Kagura continued to use it for years after Jin’s academy days. Anger overtaking embarrassment, Jin stomped back out of the room. Stopping dead in his tracks when Kagura spoke again.
“ I’ll pick you up at 8, babe.” Kagura called out with a wink.
Jin, with his hand already on the door handle, slammed the door shut behind him.
Cheeks flushed a deep red, Jin headed back to his home and prepared for his hot date that night.
