Chapter Text
Todoroki was doing that thing again, Shinsou noticed. He had that faraway look in his eyes as he stared off into space and it was like he was not mentally present. This was a normal occurrence while they were in English class with Present Mic.
It started happening two weeks ago and now it would be weird to see the dual quirk user actually listening. Hitoshi’s eyes narrowed as he tried to figure out what was making him zone out and only in this class.
The more he observed, the quicker the tired teen noticed new things. Like the way, his eyes weren’t actually unfocused but more so locked on to something or someone. His lips were parted as if he was sighing but not in a frustrated manner, more in a ‘wow, that’s so pretty,’ way.
Following Todoroki’s line of sight, he finally saw what had seemed to catch the younger boy’s attention and had him so enraptured. A smile slowly curled its way onto his face as he was about to have a very interesting afternoon with his boyfriend.
Once class was finished for the day and everyone was allowed to return to the dorm building, Hitoshi made his way over to the electric quirk user’s desk and tapped on it. Denki’s head shot up as if he had accidentally shocked himself, he looked so cute, all disoriented and sleepy.
“C’mon, Kitten. Time to go.”
“M’sleepy.”
“I know, but you have to get up.”
“Carry me?”
“What do you say?”
“Please?”
Smiling softly, Hitoshi chuckled at the small grabby hand motions Kaminari was making towards him and gently picked up the smaller boy into his arms. Sometimes, his boyfriend would get really drained coming towards the end of the day as his ADHD medicine started to kick in from lunch.
It was honestly so cute and although he would never say it out loud, the purple-haired boy treasured these special moments where he was just able to hold his lover.
While Denki and Shinsou were having their cute couple moment, on the other side of the classroom, Todoroki was watching the couple with sad eyes as he wished he could do that with the person he had feelings for.
His best friend, Midoriya blew out a breath and gently tugged the taller boy’s arm, pulling him out of the classroom. He knew of his friend’s crush and wanted to help him, but he really wasn’t any better at love.
He’s had a crush on Iida for the last year or so and was nowhere near to confessing, so he couldn’t even tell Shoto to just tell Sero he liked him.
“Chin up, Sho!”
“My head is already up, Midoriya.”
“No, no! That’s not what that means, it's basically a saying to not feel down about something!”
“Oh…”
Shoto felt his heart clench as he realized once again that he was just bad at social cues and that he was different from the rest of his classmates. It wasn’t his fault and he knew that, yet, he couldn’t help the feeling as it ran through him like a knife.
He knew he was socially awkward and had a hard time telling if someone was joking or being serious, but he couldn’t help it. His classmates and friends never held it against him or over his head, but it still hurt knowing that it would be impossible for someone to like him romantically because of it.
Especially Sero.
Sero Hanta was like a beacon of light that called out to Todoroki like a ship lost in a sea of fog, yet it was doomed from the start. The tape user was everything he was not, confident, sociable, the life of the party, and all those other things that he was bad at.
How could he ever confess to someone like that?
He knew that Sero liked him as a friend, considering the pair lived next to one another and were constantly in either one of their rooms. They were always reading new manga and binging anime series together.
If you couldn’t find Hanta, he was most likely in Todoroki’s room and it was the same for the other as well. People oftentimes assumed that they were dating because of the amount of time that they spent together, but it was just a dream that would never come true in Shoto’s eyes.
Although, whenever they were asked about it by someone outside of their class or by a passerby in the street, Sero never actually denied it. He just would smile and continue on with his day like it wasn’t something he felt the need to talk about.
Todoroki always wanted to ask him about it, but he was too scared to hear the answer and possibly change their dynamic for good. He would lose his manga/anime buddy and that he could not have. So, he left the thought alone, no matter how much it would linger in his mind.
Inside Kaminari’s bedroom sat the electric quirk user, Shinsou, a very grumpy Bakugou, who would fight to his grave that he wasn’t there because his boyfriend had placed him in his massive lap. Definitely wasn’t because of the warning to behave that came shortly after either.
No, he was there because he was sick and tired of seeing the pathetic pining from SoySauce Face and IcyHot. Yeah, that’s definitely it.
“C’mon! We’ve got to brainstorm and figure out how to get these two hopeless idiots together.”
“For real, at this point, it’s just gotten sad. Also, it’s not manly to keep your feelings to yourself.”
The two quieter members of the gathering grunted in agreement. They spent the next four hours concocting ideas, only for them to be shut down by Hitoshi or Katsuki because they were either stupid, just weird, or made no sense to the unsuspecting couple.
Just when all hope felt lost, Eijirou jostled his boyfriend a bit in excitement as he thought of an idea that could actually work.
“Fuck, Eiji! Stop tossing me around like a fucking ragdoll!”
“It’s not like you complain when I do it to you when we’re-”
The redhead’s sentence was cut off by the sounds of crackling as Bakugou started activating his quirk with a bright pink face. Shinsou was the one to groan loudly and remind them that two other people were also in the room.
One, who definitely did not want to hear more than he already had the massive misfortune of having.
“What was your idea, Kirishima?”
“OH RIGHT! How about we make Sero jealous?”
“Okay, how?”
“We need Izuku for this! We get him to start flirting with Todo and knowing Hanta, he’ll get jealous! Then that way we could get him to confess by making him think that he might actually lose his chance with the guy of his dreams! Pretty manly right?”
“Eiji…did you think that this could make possibly IcyHot very uncomfortable if his best friend just randomly started hitting on him? Yes, he may be socially awkward and fucking unaware most of the time, but even I don’t think he would be oblivious to this.”
The giant smile that was originally on the redhead’s face fell slightly as he took in what his boyfriend had said. He didn’t want to make any of his friends uncomfortable and it wasn’t manly to not think of your friends’ feelings.
“We should let Todoroki know, maybe?”
“No. That would probably upset him because then he would think he’s being obvious.”
Bakugou shifted to sit sideways in his boyfriend’s lap and wrapped his arms around his thick neck. Huffing out a breath, he could not believe he was about to suggest this but they were getting nowhere and the blonde really wanted to have some alone time with his lover.
“I have one idea. This will probably be the only good fucking idea we have heard today. What if we got Deku to ask Ashido for advice since she is our year’s self-proclaimed love guru, it could be very obvious that he is talking about his best friend which would not be the weirdest shit. Knowing her, she would immediately run over to SoySauce Face and tell him to get his shit into gear.”
“I like it.”
“Me too.”
“Baby, you’re so smart.”
“Damn fucking right I am.”
With that, the scheming was over and they moved on to the next phase, executing.
The moment Izuku saw Bakugou make his way over with a purpose in his stride, the little greenette was scared about what he wanted. He was grabbed by the forearm and dragged into the kitchen and pushed into a chair that was creepily placed in the middle of the room.
The plan was relayed to him and that’s how Midoriya found himself knocking on Mina’s door with sweaty palms and a nervous grin.
Ashido opened her door and was shocked to see Izuku on the other side, she was about to ask him what brought him to her room. However, she took in the nervous look on the young boy’s face and decided it would be best to bring him first.
Once they were seated on her pink fluffy carpet, the acid user sat patiently waiting for the other to spit it out.
“I-I…uh, I need your help with something…”
She quickly perked up, she took in his fidgety demeanor and the fact that he wouldn’t or couldn’t meet her eyes. Mina knew exactly what the situation was about, but she would let the younger boy figure it out on his own. She doesn’t want to rush him.
“I…I have a crush on someone and I don’t know what to do about it.”
“Who is it? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Todo…”
The Acid quirk user’s eyes widened to a comical size and she had to take a moment to make sure she heard the correct name. This wasn’t good, not good at all. She had to remain calm until Izuku left and she was able to call Hanta.
“M-Mina? Are you okay?”
“Huh? Oh, yes! I’m perfectly okay! Um, honestly, I don’t really think I can advise you on what to do with Todoroki… I don’t know him that well, you see…haha…”
Midoriya nodded and thanked the pinkette for her time, turning on his heel and heading to the elevator. Ashido blew out a sigh of relief and rushed back into her room, slamming the door behind her, making a bee-line for her bed.
Clutching her phone, she quickly dialed Sero’s number and chewed her lip, begging the universe to have him pick up quickly.
Elsewhere in the dorms, the self-proclaimed Bakusquad and their leader were sitting in the common room, listening to Midoriya explain what happened. It wasn’t super long, but that was good, they didn’t want that.
The little twitch of her right eye gave away her true feelings to Izuku. It was enough for him to know that she was panicking, it wasn’t noticeable to people who don’t know her or see her every day. Class 1-A, however, could spot one another’s quirky tendencies from 10 miles away.
Bakugou smiled and patted his childhood best friend’s shoulder with a massive smirk spread across his face, “Let phase two begin.”
