Hope's Peak Academy is an elite high school that only ultimate students can enter, the students who are best at their subject. Rumor has it that for those who graduate, the good life is guaranteed. Every year there is a lottery in which only one basic student can enter the school with the ultimate students. Such students are called "Ultimate Lucky students".
She is slowly waking up. She doesn't know where she is. She doesn't recall anything. She knows that her name is Kyoko Kirigiri and that she is 17 years old. Unfortunately, Kyoko does not remember her talent.
She doesn't know why she is in this school and how she got here. In contrast to everything, Kirigiri will try her best to stay calm. Deliberately she is collecting the energy to get up from a desk she was laying on, just a few moments ago.
*Where am I...?* She thought.
She had a big headache.
After she collected herself a little, she looked around. After a short amount of thinking, she concluded that she was in a classroom.
*How did I end up here...?* She grumbled to herself.
As she said that, she remembered that she was heading to Academy "Hope's Peak".
Kyoko was entering the Academy and after she made the first step everything went black.
She was thinking a bit more and then, with a big headache, slowly got up from the desk and started examining the classroom.
Dark green walls, big board for writing... Nothing uncommon for a classroom.
The classroom also had a monitor size of a tablet. That is probably typical for a government-funded school.
Not a long time passed until her attention was drawn to big plates on the windows. They were without a doubt good attached.
*Why are these plates here?* She thought.
As Kyoko knocked on one of them, she quickly realized that they were made from metal. When she turned around to see if there were any windows without a metal plate she noticed a camera. Kyoko tried not to think about it too much because maybe it was there for monitoring the safety of the students. Maybe...
After some time she decided to get out of the classroom. She was still curious about those metal plates.
" What if I am not in Hope's Peak Academy? Kirigiri whispered quietly while walking down the hallway.
It appears that a boy was walking behind her all this time.
"Of course you are." Says the boy, now a little bit closer to her. She turned to see who was talking to her. It was a blond boy with white glasses and he was taller than her. "My older brothers were going to Hope's Peak Academy and by their description, this is the hallway of it." He continued.
She was a bit relieved when she heard that and said to the boy: " Thank you. " He didn't reply, only nodded his head.
Her attention was quickly drawn to the door with the sign "Exit". Both of them entered.
When she came into the room Kyoko saw a big tin door guarded by tons of various weapons. Some people woke up and are standing near the door. They were probably in individual classrooms and ended up here the same way as her.
Kyoko counted them all and realized that there were fourteen of them including her and the boy with the glasses behind her.
One more boy arrives in the room. " There are fifteen of us now." She thought. Kirigiri figured that his name is Makoto Naegi because he was introducing himself to the other students.
Her back is still aching from sitting on a hard chair. She started rubbing her back a bit out of pain. *Who knows how long I have been sitting there..* Kyoko started drifting away into her thoughts and again trying to figure out how she fell asleep in a classroom. She fully disconnected herself with the real world. After some time a girl with a high ponytail approached her, curious about what Kyoko's talent is. Kyoko shrugged her off by saying that it is enough if she only knows her name. In reality, Kyoko didn't know either but didn't want to draw attention to it.
Fast forward a few minutes, and a strange voice was heard from one of the monitors:
"Ehem, I am asking all the students to meet me in the gym at 8 a.m!"
Everybody was looking around trying to figure out who or what was calling them to the gym, most importantly trying to figure out where the gym was. Kyoko was nimble, so when she was walking around the hallway she noticed the gym right away. Kirigiri put her hand in the pocket to reach for her hand watch. The time was five minutes till eight. Instead of putting the watch on her wrist she just put it back in her pocket. Her gloves and slim coat would make the watch super tight and uncomfortable. One by one they started to leave the room and search for the gym. When everyone came to the gym they saw that in front of them was a stage. They were standing in the gym in dead silence for quite some time. When the thought of leaving crossed Kyoko's mind a little, half-white half-black bear, jumped from underneath the stage and sat.
"Welcome everyone! I am Monokuma, the principal of Hope's Peak Academy!" he intrudes himself. "As you might have guessed this is not an ordinary high school. Not everyone will make it out of here alive."
"Alive? What kind of sick joke is that.." Kyoko thought, still confused about what she had just heard.
"In this school, there are rules you must obey. If you want to get out of here or as we call it "graduate", you must kill someone! As easy as that!"
"Kill..? Are they planning a prank on us?" A voice was heard behind Kyoko, a girl talking to a boy.
"But that's not all! After every killing, we will hold a class trial and decide who the blackened is! If you guess who the blackened is only the blackened dies, but if you pick the wrong one... Only blackened survives." Everyone was freaked out by this.
"You mean like kill someone? Like unalive them?" Said a girl with blond hair and pigtails, Junko Enoshima, the ultimate fashionista.
"Strangle, poison, drown, suffocate, crush whichever way you like it!"
A laugh could be heard from the crowd.
"You guys really believe this guy?!"
No one answered. Everyone hoped it was some kind of twisted prank, but nobody was sure.
All of a sudden a muscular guy came to Monokuma.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?! Let us out of here or I will crush you to pieces." He stormed out. After a better glance at this Kyoko realized that he was Mondo, the ultimate biker gang leader.
Monokuma just laughed at him and it looked like he wanted to say something more to the crowd when all of a sudden Mondo grabbed him.
"Violence against the headmaster is strictly prohibited!" Monokuma said. Mondo continued squeezing his fist wrapped around Monokuma's head.
Kyoko watched, unsure of what to do. All of a sudden she hears a beeping. It becomes faster every second. That wasn't any beeping, no, that was a timer. "Fast, throw it!" Kyoko screamed. Mondo looked at her confused but decided to listen. Seconds after Mondo threw him Monokuma explodes in the air. Kyoko's heart never beat so fast. She didn't understand how she knew it would explode.
"You had luck this time! Next time you won't go off so easy!" Monokuma yelled, now showing his claws.
"Where the fuck did you come from?! You just exploded!" Mondo said as he looked around the gym confused.
"That doesn't matter! Next time I will kill you for something like this!"
After yelling at Mondo for a while Monokuma gave everyone their report cards which had rules in them and information about other students with their dorm keys. Few minutes after that everyone went to their dorms. Kyoko went to her dorm and wondered how she recognizes so many people. Did she see them online, or did she see them on a tv show? All that left her confused as she tried to go to sleep.
Today was a tough day for Kyoko
