Work Text:

Diana can’t understand why Clyde’s previous owners were so eager to get rid of him that they practically gave him away for free.

Because Clyde is a simply magnificent creature. His pure black coat is rich and glossy, shimmering with an unusual iridescent sheen. It makes him stand out from the competition in every showring they enter, never failing to catch the judge’s eye.

But jumping is where he really excels. He’s strong, fast, and supple; his stride at the canter so smooth that he feels to flow across the ground and every obstacle he encounters.

He’s so brave, too! Nothing ever seems to faze him, and he doesn’t even flinch at the sorts of strange sights and sounds that send Diana’s friends’ horses running in fear. It’s as if he’s seen everything before. Diana likes to think that his deep, dark eyes betray an old soul. (The red glow at their centre is somewhat unsettling, though.)

Now, if only Diana could train him out of galloping off with her whenever he sees running water and attempting to tear chunks out of passing stable hands with his bizarrely sharp teeth, then he would be the absolutely perfect horse for her!
