Chapter Text
"Goddamn it, Komaeda." Hinata hissed, the tall blonde standing in his way, "Just let me go inside for Christ's sake. You do this everyday."
The tall white blonde, who was currently smirking as he stood in front of the entry door at the back of the school, shrugged softly as if he really didn't care, "Ah, but why should I? Every day you never give me a good excuse to move."
Hinata's lips turned down in anger, knitting together a harsh frown-like sneer. This dude was always like this, without fail.
Komaeda waited patiently for a reply, however, his eyes scanned over the angry expression. It was adorable, the way his eyebrows lowered so far like he was pouting. How childish.
The white blonde thought today was a good day to prevent Hinata from getting back in the building after he went up for his secret little smoke break.
Being juniors in highschool, usually Komaeda wouldn't care any less about someone who could barely hold a B average...but it was so fun messing with this dude.
They met about a year ago, and ever since Komaeda commented that his shoes were dirty and Hinata got totally mad, it's nearly been an obsession to fuck around with him. The way his usually calm attitude shatters whenever he's around as they start arguing, it fires him up for the day.
The smoking though, a weird habit he's noticed about a month ago, was still a shocker to him. Komaeda found out one day if he came up to make fun of him for getting the answer wrong in class, during lunch shift, and saw Hinata lighting up behind his car.
He turned around that day. Of course he was going to bully him about it...but it was sort of a weird feeling when he first saw it. Seeing someone who he has a very heavy distaste for was doing something dangerous for his health. It was strange to see what he assumed was a dumb, bad at school, but typically goody two shoes was leaning against his car, cigarette between his fingers.
He looked straight out of one of those high school movies with all the cute guys smoking, a girl accidently walking by and catching their attention. He nearly walked back just to see Hinata's attention when he was caught in the act, but he refrained.
Hell, it was...No, he wasn't going to say that. Not about Hinata, at least.
Smoking is utterly disgusting. Tastes bad, smells bad, looks bad, costs way too much money, there was nothing appealing about smoking.
So why did Hinata do it?
He didn't know. Honestly, he didn't, but he doesn't think he could care less even if there was a hidden part of curiosity lurking in his brain.
Though, besides that.
Today, he thought it would be a great time to provoke him after he finishes smoking, since Komaeda didn't like getting anywhere near cigarettes.
He loves teasing the shorter brunette, who doesn't know how to control his anger and gets a wonderful red on his face when he's flustered or caught off guard. He loves having power over the short man, because he thinks Hinata should be grateful he even wastes time making fun of him.
Or should he be grateful Hinata hasn't beaten him to a bloody pulp yet? Mmm, nevermind.
"Hello??"
Komaeda blinked, his eyes refocusing. Why does he get so carried away when he's thinking about Hinata? It was horribly disturbing, how long the nonsensical tangents can get.
"What?" He smiled to pretend he hasn't ever stared off, "Don't wanna touch me? Come on, shove me out of the way, won't you?"
"I can't shove you!" Hinata hissed, his fists tightening and loosening at his sides, "You know damn well you'll plummet to the ground."
"Oh well, it's a shame you won't be going anywhere then..." Komaeda shrugged, tossing a hand up in the air. He doesn't necessarily want to get pushed, but it's always nice to watch Hinata hopelessly stare at him because he refuses to hurt Komaeda.
He believes it's something to do with his past suspension. School must be at their limits with him and his anger issues, huh?
"Fuck you." Hinata huffed to catch his attention, his eyes glancing away as he crossed his arms, "Just, what do you want today? Come on, spit it out, do you want to laugh at me for my torn jeans or are you going to make fun of how ugly my hair looks today? What is it."
Komaeda blinked as he scanned over Hinata to look at what he mentioned. His jeans were torn today, but his hair actually looked quite good today. Spikey as usual, but he can tell Hinata showered recently, since it was fluffy at the same time.
Truth be told, a secret he wouldn't share with anyone, he thinks Hinata's fairly attractive. Perhaps fairly is an understatement, but he's not going to go complimenting this thing.
Of course, that means he has to manipulate himself into believing otherwise. There's no way he can think of the person he picks on everyday as cute. Besides, he's not gay. If he keeps insulting Hinata, he's bound to convince himself one day, right? Hinata doesn't deserve any praise, with the way he dresses up like a hooligan.
Still, his excited face twitched into plainness for a moment. It's disturbing to see Hinata looking so tired and putting himself up for teasing. Maybe he's had a bad day, usually Hinata puts up a fight and they bicker for a long time.
Today he seems so brush off-ish...hm. It wasn't nearly as fun to bully someone who wasn't fighting, then it's just like kicking a corpse. What's the point?
"Someone's had a bad day, huh?" He asked as he leaned forward a bit to be eye to eye with him, "Your eyebags are extra dark today! Someone can't sleep, mm?"
Hinata's eyes widened a bit, like that's not what he expected. As much as Komaeda likes making fun of him, surprising him and catching him off guard were even more fun.
"T-That's none of your problem."
"Come on!" He laughed, his eyes washing over his expression to take it all in, "Tell me! What's got the little spikeball up so late at night? Are you on those websites again?"
"Again!?" Hinata shouted, "I didn't say anything!"
"Ooh, so you do go on them then? How vulgar! Our poor classmates.."
"No!" Hinata shouted, before he glanced around before glaring back him as if he's looking for passer-byers, "Don't say another fucking word. It's none of your problem."
"Come on, what, are you doing meth now?" Komaeda asked, now actually curious about what he's being secretive about, "That would be crazy. I know about the cigarettes, but you've really got to tell me if you're a pothead. I can't be seen with a druggie."
"No, no drugs like that." Hinata grumbled before he sighed in anger, "It really isn't your damn problem, just let me go. It's not interesting, for you anyways."
"Well then say it! Now you've got me all tied up and you can't just leave me blue balled."
"That's disgusting!"
Komaeda only got to laugh for a moment before he felt his body shudder in surprise.
He flinched as he felt a hand contact his chest as he was pushed back into the school, he nearly went flying with the amount of force suddenly put onto him. His feet stumbled, and he nearly fell, until the same hand grabbed his shirt and he was lurched forward.
He glanced around wildly as he steadied himself, noticing Hinata was holding his shirt in his fist before he let it go immediately when he noticed Komaeda was looking at him. He almost missed the fearful expression on Hinata's face, but he managed to catch it.
Oh. Hinata caught him after pushing him to make sure he didn't fall. His guard was lowered but he quickly laughed to cover his own surprise up, because it's not like Hinata had to catch him, there's no one around to get him in trouble. Why did he do that?
"Aww, my knight in shining armor!" Komaeda smirked, brushing down his shirt to straighten it out like he was trying to play it casual even if his heart was taking one to many beats than usual, "I hoped you washed your hands though. Those websites do some things to people."
Hinata's face contorted into disgust again, "I-I said I don't watch those! Damn it, I'm out of here."
Komaeda laughed cheekily as Hinata began to walk away, and he couldn't help but feel curiosity still linger as he watched him go.
What was Hinata thinking about? Why's he seem so secretive about it? He didn't seem in the mood to go back and forth, at least, not about whatever's got him stressed before lunch. Perhaps it's just family related and that's why it wouldn't be interesting.
Of course Komaeda has to know now, because he's said anything at all. He's nosy like that. He's nearly dying to find out what he could possibly be trying to hide, and honestly it could be the most boring thing on the planet and he'd still be interested.
Maybe he got a girlfriend? Ooh, that would be interesting. He could still try to ruin his relationship, Hinata being with anyone would be infuriating.
Why does he want to ruin Hinata's relationship for that?
Huh...He didn't know. It shouldn't be important to him.
Nevermind that.
"See you in class Hinata-chan!" Komaeda yelled behind him as he waved just for an extra push, unable to hold back his own giggle as Hinata's hand waved back to flick him off. He's so childish, the way he didn't even look back at Komaeda but his head bobbed in what he assumed was an eye roll.
"Fuck off!"
Soon the brunette disappeared around the corner, his backpack and brown hair gone as he joined into the bustling atmosphere of the lunch room. He could hear the noise from here.
Time to go, then.
Komaeda grabbed his bag off of the floor nearby and stared at the hallway threatening him. He didn't like eating with the other students, and he always liked helping out his homeroom teacher because she always needs assistance, so he wasn't typically found in the lunch room.
Despite what some people think because of his known rivalry with Hinaga, he does spend half of his day being a teacher's helper. In small ways, of course. He actually really likes helping people in general, no matter who they are.
He adores the way people smile, laugh, and thank him when burdens are taken off their shoulders.
So why does he like seeing Hinata so flustered and angry? He, honest to God, had no clue. He just assumed it's because they've been rivaling for a year now, Komaeda picking on him for being a loser idiot and Hinata telling him he's a stuck up nobody. It could barely be called a rivalry, if it wasn't for Komaeda comparing their academic scores and Hinata getting beyond pissed about it.
He likes their bickering. The way Hinata doesn't hold back from insulting him instead of the way everyone else walks on eggshells around him. He likes being able to tell Hinata what's wrong with him for the day and not immediately be thrown into a fistfight with seven students.
It's nearly relaxing. He wonders what Hinata thinks of this.
He probably despises Komaeda. That's okay, he doesn't necessarily like Hinaga either.
He glanced at the floor when he tried to take a step, and he heard something skid a ways away.
Just his luck.
It's Hinata's favorite pin, he knows because he's never seen the guy without it. He assumes it's a pin from someone else, a tiny little triangle, or maybe a spaceship from those old games, and he knows like hell Hinata plays those games willingly.
Of course he could ignore it, kick it farther or keep it for himself, but he thinks it has significance. He's mean, not absolutely horrible, if this was someone else's pin he shouldn't let it get smashed.
He leaned down and picked it up. On to find Hinata, then. He'll be making Hinata pay for this later, having to walk out into the lunchroom. The noise overwhelms him…but he'll handle it.
-
Hinata was currently whining his butt off.
"He's a fucking dickhole bitch ass cunt fuckface with no life and no fucking friends!" Hinaga sighed loudly, the table's attention on him since he arrived late, per usual.
Soda laughed at him, as he did everyday when Hinata begins his complaints.
Hinata was currently sitting in the cafeteria with his friends, sourly eating his gross school food as he recalled the situation for him. Obviously he has to tell them everything that goes on with that dude, because they insist about constant updates.
"Y'know," Kuzuryu hummed first, before he motioned to the seat beside him, "My sister wants to say something."
The smaller blonde girl sat up more, a smirk on her face that he's all too familiar with, "Sure do! I think Komaeda is toootally gushing over you!"
"Huh!?" He shouted, his head craning to look at her. She does this every single time, like, seriously. She's just as bad as Komaeda is.
"No way! That dude calls me ugly any chance he gets."
"Weeell, you aren't ugly," Mioda disagreed, food still in her mouth as she chewed while talking, pointing a finger at him, "So you're fine! Maybe he's deflecting!"
Hinata shook his head as he popped a fry into his mouth, which wasn't the best tasting, "You guys always do this whenever I talk about him. He doesn't like me, you've literally seen the way he talks to me. He despises me."
"But why?" Soda asked, sitting beside Hinata with his arms on the table. He refuses to eat school food, which was honestly admirable, because Hinata could never.
"He's usually super, I mean like, creepily nice to everyone. Did you do something?"
"I don't think so...? It's not like I ever fuckin' asked." He sighed as he crossed his arms, leaving one semi free to grab food, "He just has never liked me since we met."
"Aw," Mioda frowned, before she leaned into him since she was on his left and loved getting in his personal space, "Do you like him? You sound a little sad about it!"
"Of course not." He replied hastily as he backed up a bit, "Why would I like the dude who's a bitch to me everyday."
"He does go out of his way to talk to you more than the rest of us," Kuzuryu interrupted as he pointed his fork at Hinata, "Maybe you secretly like the attention."
Hinata flushed at the accusation, wishing he could will away the heat on his face to make it seem less likely Kuzuryu was right, "No way! I don't need some fuckheads attention, it's not even good attention. Doesn't matter."
"You've dressed in a lot more ripped jeans lately."
"Uh, yeah? Why?"
"He said he doesn't like your ripped jeans." Kuzuryu smiled at him, an accusing smirk on his face. Nevermind, all of his friends are just as bad as Komaeda. It's like he can't live.
"It just happened!" Hinata quickly replied to clear it up, since there was no way he would do anything just because Komaeda said something, "I-I mean, I skate and bike ride a lot with Owari and Nidai and stuff. I'm bound to get the pairs of jeans I wear everyday ripped and dirty from working out."
Soda patted his back, and he glanced over quickly to see Soda giving him a disappointed dad look, "It's okay if you like him bro. Be honest."
Hinata's mouth fell over in disbelief as he heard a faint giggle from Mioda. Are they fucking with him? There's no way they genuinely think he likes Komaeda. He would rather swallow a bomb and feel his organs explode than even kiss that dude once.
"I said I don't like him! Damn it, what do you want from me??"
"I'm sure you don't." Soda sighed as he shook his shoulder lightly, and Hinata was getting real pissed off, "It's okay, man."
"I'm not gay." Hinata whispered angrily, barely loud enough for even Soda to hear and they were sitting next to each other. Sodas been doing this for a week now, and by the look of confusion on his face, he assumes his fears have been confirmed.
"Bro," Soda whispered back, "I'm your soul bro. I know everything. You're definitely gay."
There it was. He knew Soda had figured it out a while ago, but he was hoping it wouldn't affect his life so heavily…Komaeda? Seriously? He's gay, he's not lacking standards.
He couldn't really be all that worried about it. It was just Soda, and if they've been able to silently share understandings for a week it'll be fine.
Still, he narrowed his eyes, "I'll kill you if you tell someone."
"Don't worry about it." Soda grinned as he gave him a thumbs up under the table, stupid as always, "I just wanna see you happy."
"Ah,"
Hinata blinked, his mind cleared from a voice he recognized.
Hinata's core shook as he glanced to his right, a new figure standing a little ways away in between them. The figure was peering down at them menacingly, and there was a familiar smile on his face.
Shit.
"What are we whispering about over here?"
Hinata's mouth twitched before he narrowed his eyes in confusion, "Nothing. You don't eat in the lunchroom, what do you want?"
"You know where he eats?" Soda asked in confusion, his voice not whispery enough to the point he saw Komaeda smile wider, and he sent him a glare, "Yeah, I-I mean, he follows me out of the classroom but doesn't follow me in here."
"Oh."
Komaeda suddenly pat his pocket, "You dropped something, and I shouldn't have expected any less. I thought I'd show a bit of kindness for embarrassing you so badly a moment ago."
"What'd he do?" Mioda asked, food still in her mouth, and he wished he had enough time to interrupt but he didn't. Goddamn it Mioda.
"I was teasing Hinata about his pornography site watching. He was really upset."
"For the last time!" He shouted, feeling the rigidness of his muscles only increase the longer he had to be around this dude, "I don't watch those! I swear to fucking God Komaeda."
"See?" Komaeda hummed, leaning forward a bit, "It's okay, Hinata! You're a growing boy."
"I'm seventeen, I've stopped growing for now."
"That's a shame, you're still short..."
"No I'm not!" Hinata sighed angrily, unable to help the way his stomach muscles tensed with the way Komaeda was leaning down to stare at him so teasingly, the way his words faltered ever so slightly, "A-Anyway. What did I drop? I'm not missing anything."
"Oh!" Komaeda stood straight, leaning back up to pull something out of his pocket before he held something between hia fingers, "This! I'm assuming it's yours?"
Hinata glanced down at the open palm now outstretched to him, scanning the object before his eyes widened and he slowly reached forward to take it back. That's the last thing he expected to have lost.
"O-Oh." He mumbled as he glanced up, his hand hesitated before he grabbed it as if he was going to be burned if he touched Komaeda, "I...Uh. Umm, I guess...Thank you. Really."
Komaeda smiled at him as Hinata's fingers finally touched his hand to pick up the piece of plastic, and he froze as a second hand suddenly came up and grabbed his wrist. Nails were ever so slightly dug into his skin, sending a tingle down his arm.
Hinata's heart hammered as he looked forward, a hand with a tight grip on his wrist and a face mere inches from his. The pin was securely tucked in his fingers, at least.
He glanced around, a shadow cast on he and the white blondes face as they stared at each other. His hair was so poofy the lights could barely get around it, since they always come from different areas of the lunchroom.
Hinata didn't really know how much time they spent like that.
Hinata just realized how pretty his eyes were, grey outlines with green flooding the centers. They were honestly gorgeous, like they're out of an olden time oil painting.
Holy 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 he's close. Why is he close? Like, this close? Their noses are almost touching close?
He couldn't help but focus on the way Komaeda's lips moved when he finally talked, barely exposing his teeth and tongue. He doesn't understand the tension building in his chest and throat but it was mildly uncomfortable but all the more enticing.
"You owe me for this," Komaeda hummed, a smile on his face as his lips drew out the words like a threat, "Hajime."
His first name. Holy shit, that's a first. They weren't on a first name basis. They weren't even close.
He should be offended, but then again, he was too lost to even care about that right now. What's worse is how his first name sounded on Komaeda's tongue, he drags it out and enunciates the second syllable.
Hinata swallowed thickly, nearly gulping air when Komaeda finally backed up and let go of his wrist, before he glanced back up. The pin was in his fingers, now warmed from him squeezing it.
He felt like he just brought his head back out from under water, the tension between them had nearly killed him and he didn't understand why. That was totally new…was it because his friends are being so insistent in fucking with him? Probably, telling him he likes someone is bound to make things more awkward than they already were.
Yeah, that's it. Stupid friends, if Komaeda's going to leave marks on his wrist he definitely doesn't see anything in Hinata, and Hinata sees nothing in him.
"It was nice seeing you all!" Komaeda smiled as he waved at the rest of the table, before his eyes glanced back at Hinata who looked back, "I'll see you in a bit."
The white blonde turned around, shoving his hands in his jean pockets before he walked off.
Hinata's eyes trailed after him, watching as the white blonde walked away without another word. He weaved through tables like he owned the place, smiling and nodding to people Hinata didn't even recognize before he disappeared into the crowd.
Hinata just realized how bad he was overheating. Like, he is absolutely certain there's sweat dripping down the back of his neck right now.
"Woah."
He glanced back at Kuzuryu, who was still eating his noodles like he's never seen anything less interesting. His sister giggled beside him, "I think I could taste the homoerotic tension from that. And you still try to deny you're into each other."
"Homo what!?" He yelled as he turned around, confused about what the fuck she was on, "Absolutely not!"
"You can't pretend now!" The female Kuzuryu laughed, just as bad as the original is, "You were totally invested in that! He said your first name, Hinata, he liiikkessss you."
"No way!" He shouted again, already tired of this back and forth conversion when they obviously won't take the hint to shut up, "He said I owe him for picking up my goddamn pin. He's just trying to fuck with me, he's an asshole like that."
"Maybe you owe him a night in the sheets?"
"Kill yourself immediately."
"You were blushing so hard."
"Was not!"
"Yuh huh. Hinata, really," Kuzuryu smiled at him, a glint in her eye, "Trust me. It's okay if you like him, I think it'd be pretty cool to see a turnaround from here. I think you'd look cute together! Sure our schools a little...but just don't tell anyone!"
"No." Hinata shook his head, "No, never, not a chance. No way. For the last time, I'm not even gay."
"How am I expected to believe that?"
He swallowed. Well, here's his excuse.
"I like Nanami. Don't tell her," He said quickly as if Nanami didn't already agree to be his excuse for when anyone tries to accuse him of anything in the dating realm, "So, no. You can quit it, seriously. I already like someone, a girl for that matter."
Kuzuryu, the boy, narrowed his eyes, "Nanami? Damn, I should have known. Ever gonna confess?"
He shrugged. Nanami was lesbian, he was gay, they're both trying to cover up their homosexuality. Perhaps a fake relationship would finally end all the commotion. Like, seriously, sure his friends would be supportive, but the rest of the school if someone let it slip?
Absolutely not. Besides, Komaeda's probably into girls anyways. He's just an asshole and it would be very preferable if he never found out, because he doesn't need to deal with homophobia. Komaeda would absolutely jump on the opportunity to make fun of him.
"I dunno, maybe." He sighed, continuing the conversation, "I just don't wanna think about this stuff anymore. Let's talk about something else."
Mioda nodded quickly like she was waiting for her cue, "That's okay! Guys, guys, I have a concert tonight!"
Hinata sighed heavily. God bless Mioda Ibuki.
Walking out of the lunch room, Soda and Kuzuryu were the only ones by his side. They were running a little late, so most of the hallways were thinning out. They only had a few minutes until the bell.
"I don't wanna go to class." Soda grumbled lazily as they walked as slow as they possibly could through the hallways. Hinata glanced over, being in the middle of the two, "Me either. I hate school."
"We can skip class." The shorter blonde proposed, and Soda and Hinata glanced at each other for a moment before they all turned to look at Kuzuryu.
Hinata sighed softly, as much as he wanted to agree he really can't anymore, "I really shouldn't. Today, at least, I still have to get notes from a week ago."
"Fuuuck." Kuzuryu groaned, before he nodded, "Alright man. Good luck, Komaeda's in this class of yours too. Me and Soda are heading off to class, we won't skip without you."
Hinata nodded as they walked, a smile blessing his lips, "That's nice of you guys. And yeah, I know. He can't really do anything in class though. I guess I'll just die."
Soda gave him a thumbs up in support, "You'll be fine! I think your so-called bully isn't so bad. Otherwise we'd step in…it's not like he's hurt you right?"
"You just think I have a crush on him so you don't immediately let Kuzuryu send his gang after them. No, not physically if that's what you mean."
Kuzuryu shrugged slightly, "Hey man, you two looked really into each other just now. You can't blame us for thinking that when you start breathing into each other's mouths."
"He was not looking at me like that, first of all." Hinata groaned, really not seeing how they're seeing it when all Komaeda was doing was being a bitch again, "Second, I was not looking at him like that. To be honest, I was sure he was going to break my arm."
"As if." Soda sneered weakly, "He's tall, but he's real lanky. You got strength on your side, another reason we think you like him. You could beat his ass if you really wanted to."
Hinata sighed as he elbowed Soda, "You know damn well I can't. I got suspended last time for getting in a fight, I'm on my last strike and like hell I'm going to use it to beat up Komaeda of all people. I'd probably send him to the hospital."
Soda shrugged softly as they took a right, the two walking Hinata to his class as they usually do, "I guess so. Seems like you're stuck getting picked on by a cute guy, huh?"
"He is not cute. He's fucking hideous." Hinata immediately interjected, "Have you seen him? He crawled right out of a coffin, and on a daily basis he smells like cleaning chemicals."
"That's because he helps the teachers out with cleaning." Kuzuryu rolled his eyes, nearly getting a flick to the forehead, "Even Fukawa thinks he's cute. You can't lie, Hinata."
Hinata paused in the hallway, confused. Was he? Oh god, he knew Soda, bud Kuzuryu?
"So," He whispered as he leaned down, and Kuzuryu just stared at him as they all paused, "You don't believe the Nanami thing either?"
"Of course not." Kuzuryu chuckled like that was the stupidest lie Hinata's ever tried to tell, "Soda told me like, a week ago. I been knowing."
Hinata shot back and whipped around to sent a glare at the pink headed fuckwad, "Soda!?"
"I didn't do anything!" Soda shouted as he raised his hands in defense, "It's okay Hinata! We've known. Kuzuryu always had a suspicion."
"For fucks sake..." He sighed as he shook his head, "Whatever. I'll kill you if..."
"We won't."
The three of them started walking again. Hinata figured they'd probably find out, they were his closest friends beside Nanami after all. She knew everything, more than these two did, because he could truly trust her to not let anything slip. These two were close seconds though.
"This is it." Hinata sighed as he glanced back at the two as he paused in front of the door, which was still open like it was expecting him even if the bell had just rang, "See ya guys later. Text you."
"Bye!" Soda smiled as he waved, the two walking away already, "We'll be waiting!"
He didn't bother replying again, since the two were now rushing. They were way late after all.
Hinata turned around as he entered the classroom, most kids already inside and in their seats chatting away. His teacher was standing in front of her desk, but she didn't notice him come in, so he just slowly turned and walked down the walk back to his seat.
That probably means he won't get marked tardy.
Ironic, right? He doesn't get noticed and he gets a seat in the back of the room.
The only good thing about being a totally average and normal looking student is the fact no one takes the time to recognize him individually. The back was always for students teachers don't care enough about.
He wished he got up front, so he could see better, but whatever. He just wasn't important enough for his teachers to choose a seat for him, instead throwing him into the left over seat pile.
His friends recognize him, even his classmates do, but the teachers don't. After so many years he doesn't expect them to if he doesn't do anything to stand out against the crowd.
Sure, sometimes, it hurts. At the same time though, he does get away with a lot more, including teachers not caring enough to talk about his missing homework as often as other students.
Walking along the wall to not bother other kids, soon he spotted his empty seat, and something he didn't want to see. It's been half an hour, but that still feels way too short.
His eyes landed on the blonde, who was currently sitting in his seat with a bored look on his face. His arms were leaned against the desk, his eyes staring out the left windows. He nearly looked approachable, like he was waiting for someone to talk to him.
Well, that was until Hinata begrudgingly walked past his desk to sit in the seat right next to him. It's like the light was rushed back into him the moment Hinata's thigh brushed against his desk to avoid knocking into the kids in front of them.
Unlucky, right? Having a seat right next to this dude.
He set his bag on the floor, sliding into the seat as he heard a laugh from his right. Komaeda was seated in the last row of course, perfectly next to him in their own little corner. Far away from the teacher in the back, it's like God was begging him to spend his time with his head buried in his arms to ignore Komaeda.
"Someone's back!" Komaeda cooed beside him, all his energy flooding back. He nearly wished Komaeda would just feel depressed sometimes, to dampen his eccentric mood whenever Hinata was around.
Hinata glanced over, feeling his facial features harden in disinterest from meeting those pr…green eyes again, "Already? What, did you miss me?"
"𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴 you?" Komaeda giggled, his chin sitting in his hand as his head faced Hinata to grin at him cheekily, "I don't think anyone would miss you."
"Shut up then." Hinata huffed, but Komaeda just rolled his eyes, "That's no way to talk to your academic superior. Have a few manners."
"I don't even give a shit about school, and you don't deserve manners."
"The rest of the world does!" Komaeda hummed, "Maybe you should thank me. I've given you so many notes I think I deserve one hell of a thank you. To treat me like this…"
"I already thanked you for those!" Hinata groaned, his body facing Komaeda, "Besides, what the hell do you want? After earlier, I don't owe you shit."
"Oh, come on, it was funny seeing you all flushed." Komaeda laughed, and Hinata rolled his eyes as he swallowed, "What do you want this time."
Komaeda shrugged, and suddenly a shoe was sitting against Hinata's thigh, a little too close to his hips and between his legs, "Lick my shoes, and I'll forget about your debt."
"I-I can't lick your shoes!" Hinata replied with a dead voice in hopes the rest of the chatting class won't hear him, glancing down at the foot on his leg like it was the most vile piece of imagery he's seen, "For all I know I'll get fucking rabies."
"Rabies!?" Komaeda hissed as he sat up, taking his foot off of Hinata's leg to stomp it on the ground, "Like fucking hell! Be more creative than that!"
"Don't act like it's not possible!" Hinata replied back, and Komaeda glared at him, "Don't piss me off! I swear I'll fucking tell everyone about–"
"No you won't!" He shouted, already knowing what he was referring to. He didn't need to get in trouble with his parents for that type of stuff. Smoking was an accident, but it was a damn addiction and he didn't have the mentality to quit so he wasn't about to put himself through withdrawals.
"And why shouldn't I!?" Komaeda shouted back, a pissed off look on his face, and Hinata grabbed the side of the table to lean forward and sneer at him, "Oh I'm gonna kick your fucking ass–!"
"Boys!"
Hinata and Komaeda both snapped forward in their seats, glancing forward towards the front like they had never been fighting in the first place.
"Is there a problem?" The teacher asked. Oh shit...he forgot they were in class. His teacher didn't look happy, "I told you both multiple times, there is no swearing, and definitely no fighting in my classroom. Do I have to move one of you?"
They both stayed silent as they glanced at each other, glares on their faces. It would be rude to make the other students move, because most were in friend groups or needed to be in the front to see and he seriously did not need to piss off anyone else because of this dude.
Hinata finally glanced back, shaking his head, "Sorry, miss."
"Good. You're on your last strikes, Hinata Hajime. Do not spend them fighting with Komaeda in my class."
"He starts it." Hinata sighed, and suddenly his eyes flickered over as Komaeda sat up more, "I do not! You just can't handle a joke."
"Your jokes are morbidly stupid!" Hinata hissed, and Komaeda just kept glaring at him, "You're just a fucking pussy."
"Boys!" The teacher shouted again, before she sighed heavily, "Both of you, in the office. I won't put this on your record but I'm not letting you interrupt class until you've figured this out. Go."
Hinata groaned as he slammed his hands on his desk to stand up, "Fine, whatever. It's all that fuckers fault." He grumbled as he walked past his and Komaeda's desk, rolling his eyes as he heard Komaeda hop up from his seat to follow him, "Is not! You're just a whiny baby!"
"Am not!" He shouted as he turned around, walking backwards as they two approached the door just to keep his eyes on him to glare, Komaeda crossing his arms, "Are too!"
"Literally shut up." He sighed as he went to say more before he hissed, his hand raising to rub the back of his head. He glanced behind himself as he realized he rammed himself right into the door with a thud. Fuck, that hurt a little bit.
All he heard was a laugh, and he glanced back forward to see it was only coming from Komaeda.
He glared, and Komaeda was still laughing loudly, "You ran into the door! God, can you be any more embarrassing?"
Hinata balled up his fist, lightly punching Komaeda enough in the shoulder to make him flinch back but not actually hurt him. The last thing he needed to do was break the dude in half with the teacher watching them.
"Stop dallying around." The teacher hissed at them, and Komaeda just smirked at him as he rubbed his shoulder, "And don't hit other students, Hinata."
Hinata rolled his eyes as he quickly turned out of the door, and began walking down the hallway before Komaeda could say anything else to him.
"Sorry, ma'am!" He heard Komaeda apologize before he heard a door snap closed, and he assumed Komaeda was following behind him now.
"Wait up!"
"Why would I wait up!?"
