Chapter Text
Hinata Shouyou
Today is the Entrance Exam for U.A. High School, a school where two of Shouyou's favorite heroes: Deku and Tiny Giant, went. You can tell that those two are his favorites due to the endless number of posters and action figures that decorate his room. He's been obsessed with Deku since elementary and Tiny Giant since middle school, and now he is taking the exam to get into the school they had gone to, but Shouyou has one obstacle: waking up. That's right, Hinata Shouyou may be many things, but a morning person is one thing he isn't.
"Shou- wake- late- entrance exam." Shouyou hears his mother's voice as he slips in and out of consciousness.
There was a moment of silence before he heard his blinds shifting. As the light from outside hits his face, Shouyou pulls his covers over his head. "Five more minutes." Shouyou groans.
"You have to get up now, or else you're going to be late." She says, pulling the blankets off her son's head, and all she gets in response is another groan.
"Come on, you have to get up," His mom said, shaking his shoulders lightly. Shouyou flips his body away from his mother as he's dozing off when he gets hit by a pillow. "Mom!" Shouyou whines.
"You don't want to miss the entrance exam, do you?" His mom asked.
Shouyou jumps out of bed and hits his head on the ceiling.
"Ow!" Shouyou says, rubbing the tender spot on his head.
"We need to get a cushion for your ceiling or a helmet." Shouyou's mom laughed.
"Hardy har," Shouyou says unenthusiastically.
"Now come on, I made breakfast."
Shoyo groans before following his mom to the dining room, where his little sister Natsu is already sitting at the table. "Good morning Sho!" His sister shouts from across the table.
"Morning Natsu!" Shoyo says with a big smile.
"Your becoming a hero today!" His sister squeals. "You're gonna be just like dad!"
"Hopefully!" He enthusiastically says to his now giggling sister.
"Now hurry and eat before you're late." His mother says, bringing him his plate.
Kageyama Tobio
Tobio walks down the stairs to meet his dads for their morning jogs. He'd got into U.A. on recommendation mainly due to who his parents were, which he didn't like. He wants to feel like he got in because of his skills, not because his parents were the #1 and #2 heroes, Deku and Shoto. "Hey," Tobio says while walking down the stairs, expecting to see both of his dads, but to his surprise only sees his Ba, Shoto, putting on his cap.
"Good Morning Tobi. Are you ready?" His Ba asks while grabbing his mask from off the counter.
"Is dad coming?" Tobio asked, wondering where his Green-haired parental figure was.
"He has patrol today, remember?" The older man responds while zipping up his hoodie.
"Oh yeah, um, sorry," Tobio apologized.
Tobio was disappointed in himself for not remembering his dad's schedule; if he can't remember that what makes U.A. think that he could be a hero: he had failed the written test and made a fool of himself in the interview portion. Tobio also knows that it wasn't for publicity because the only people who know that Deku and Shoto are his fathers are his dad's former classmates, his middle school principal, and the principal at U.A. His parents did every they could to keep the press from knowing that either of them had children going as far as to hide their marriage from the public.
So why him?
Why choose a socially awkward, dumbass to be-
"-bio? Tobio, are you ok?" Shoto asked, looking up at his son with concern in his eye.
"Yeah... yeah, I'm fine." Tobio nods.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, let's just go."
"Okay..." The pro-hero says with skepticism in his voice, then pulls up his hood. "Well, let's get going."
Tsukishima Kei
Tadashi
Hey! Do you want to go to the exam together?
Kei
Sure.
Tadashi
Cool!
Tadashi
We can take the bus!
Tadashi
Let's meet me at our spot?
Kei
Ok.
There was a knock at Kei's door. Assuming that it was his mother knocking, he says, "Come in."
"Hey, little bro!" said a voice that was definitely not his mother's. Kei groans and puts his phone face down on his desk; he turns in his chair to face his brother. "What do you want, Akiteru?"
"I-I just wanted to wish you luck and- um," Akiteru stutters.
"And?" Kei asked, wanting his brother to hurry up with his sentence.
"And I w-was wondering if you needed a ride?" Akiteru asks while kicking the ground lightly.
"No, Tadashi and I take the bus with him." Kei replies.
"Oh... Ok!" Akiteru says with a hint of sadness.
"I have to go now if I don't want to be late," Kei lies. He doesn't need to leave for another 10 minutes.
"Oh, well, good luck!"
"Yup," Kei says. He grabs his phone and leaves.
Yamaguchi Tadashi
"Mom, I have to meet Tsuki at the bus stop," Tadashi calls out from the front door. He was confused when met with silence, so he called out one more time, "Mom, I'm leaving!" More silence follows. Feeling uneasy, he checks her room to see if she's still asleep. He reaches his mother's room door; he hears her retching from inside. Tadashi knocks on her door. "Mom, are you ok?" Tadashi asked softly.
"I-I'm fi-fine." His mother says through coughs.
"I'm leaving for the exam."
"What time is it? I can still take you!" She says, her voice getting closer to the door.
"No, you're hungover." Tadashi lectured.
"I-I'm fine, I swear!" She exclaimed. She opens the door to face her disappointed and worried son. "Mom, I have to go, and you are in no shape to take me," Tadashi sternly says. He turns away from her. "Besides, I already asked Tsuki to meet me somewhere so we could take the bus together."
"I'm so sorry, Tadashi," She sobs into her son's chest; he wraps his arms around her and whispers, "I know." He rests his chin on top of her head.
"What did I do to ever deserve a son like you?" She sniffles. Tadashi doesn't say anything but keeps his mother in his arms for another minute or so. She takes a deep breath to compose herself before saying, "I promise, I'm trying to get better."
Tadashi nods and let go of his mother, "I know you're trying, but now I have to go."
"Right, now kick ass on the entrance exam." His mother proclaimed.
"Bye mom." Tadashi chuckles.
"Bye Sweetie." She smiled.
Yachi Hitoka
Hitoka was nervous, she got into U.A. on recommendation, and her mother doesn't know yet. She's tried to tell her ever since the letter came, but her mother is a very busy businesswoman, so every attempt Hitoka took in trying to tell her mother always ended up with her being called into the office by her boss.
So today is the day that Hitoka would tell her.
"Hitoka, aren't you supposed to be at the entrance exam?"
"Oh- um- I- actually go-" Hitoka stuttered before she was interrupted by the sound of a phone ringing.
"I'm sorry, Hito, but I have to take this," Madoka groaned.
Hitoka's shoulders slump. "Oh... ok..."
Hitoka watches as her mother speedily walks into another room; after a few minutes, her mother comes back with a briefcase in her hand. "Sorry, Hito, I just got called into the office."
"Oh- ok, but I just wanted to say-" Hitoka was once again interrupted by her mother's phone ringing.
"Sorry, I have to go." The older woman turns to walk out the door. "Oh, I'll probably be home late, so can you make dinner."
"Y-yeah, sure."
"Thank you, Hito, and go before it's too late." Her mother then answers the still-ringing phone. "Hello... I'm on my way."
And there goes another failed attempt at trying to keep her mom's attention. Hitoka wants to give up, but she can't because her mother has always shown her that if you're really passionate about something to never give up.
"Wait!" Hitoka squeaked.
"Can you hold for a minute?" Madoka sighs, putting the person on the phone on hold. "Hitoka, I really have to go."
"Mom, I got into U.A."
"But the entrance exam-"
"I got in on recommendation."
"Wha- Hitoka why didn't you tell me?" Madoka gleefully.
The younger Yachi subconsciously kicks the ground. "Be-Because..." Hitoka looks up at her mother. She wants to say: 'because you're always busy.' But then her mother would doubt her parenting skills and she would step away from work to spend time with her; then her boss would get mad because they'd be behind schedule, because she'd taken a break from her duties to spend time with her, no good of a daughter! He'll fire her! Then they won't be able to pay rent! THEY'LL BE HOMELESS!
"Because... It slipped my mind!" Hitoka chuckles.
"Silly girl." Madoka pats her daughter's head; there was a ding coming from her mother's phone. "Ah, I got to go Hitoka, I'll see you when I get home." The businesswoman speed walks out the door.
"Bye, mom." Hitoka waves.
