Chapter Text

It took Percy a long time to start sleeping through the night. Tartarus had definitely given him even more trauma than what he already had. But whenever Annabeth was sleeping by his side, it was easier for him to relax and feel safe. He was pretty sure that she was feeling the same way about him. He had spent a big part of his life running and fighting, and now that he was in the finish line, it felt like a bliss. No more monsters, no more running for his life.

He loved waking up to Annabeth sleeping on him. It brought to him a sense of peace that had been absent for a big part of his teenage years. Annabeth always gave him peace, when they were 12 or 15 or 17 or 27. Her presence was just the greatest thing that happened to him. When she was asleep, it was the only time her guard was completely down except from when they were on their own. She seemed so calm and relaxed. He couldn’t imagine spending his life with anyone other than her.

A blonde curl was on her eyes, so he carefully tucked it behind her ear. Annabeth moved slightly but continued sleeping. He put his free hand around her waist and pulled her a bit closer to him. He couldn’t help but smile to the sight of her small baby bump. He just couldn’t believe that this was his life. That he was going to be a father and have a family with Annabeth. He could stare at her for forever.

Only then, she slowly started waking up. “Good morning, stranger.” She whispered as she placed her head on his chest.

“Slept well?” He asked her, to which she just nodded in agreement. “I would’ve had breakfast ready, but you were sleeping on my arm, and I didn’t want to wake you.”
“It’s okay. I want us to stay in bed for at least another hour. Can we do nothing today?”

“Whatever you want. I don’t mind staying like this for a little longer.”
