Work Text:
Mingi went out of his office to see the ongoing building nearby. It's his project assigned by one of the councilors of the city. The building is for the proposed project in order to give more work for still unemployed residents, and will announce and open on that councilor's 50th birthday at the party held by the local government and other big personalities. The councilor must be the social butterfly, Mingi thought.
The building is on halfway to be done, and there are still plenty of time to finish the building since the councilor's target birthday will happen in 1 and a half years prior. The councilor is still on his 48th birthday so Mingi cannot make the workers on rush in order to make the building on strong manner.
As he came near the undone building, he was about to wear his helmet but he remembered he didn't bring it along.
And he also remembers he cannot bring it along because his project partner San borrowed it a while ago.
Why does he not bring his own helmet?
And apart from that, San went out earlier than him to check the upper part of the building. In so, San was in the 6th floor (the latest finished floor).
He needs to be careful.
Good thing he decided to put long big duvet on the ground floor, for the workers hanging on top. Some workers need to wear harness to work the outside part of the building, and harness is not the safest equipment after all.
Accidents may happen, mostly to the workers who risk their life for this kind of job. They receive equal amount of salaries depending on how hard they do their work, but still they should be extra careful on their work. Hazards and risks are everywhere, and may happen anytime if something is off.
And Mingi knew it from the start.
But, speaking of something's off, having no helmet in the first place means something is totally off. Maybe call Mingi as an obvious overthinker. What if something fall from the top? Debris may fall to me, and if I have no proper gear on my head, I will be bruised, injured, or will die. Fuck it, I will never meet my future spouse. Sorry for them, they will be single forever once I am gone.
What a sudden thought. He's single, and available for everyone.
In every occasions, thoughts are totally an image of imagination, either something that are wanted or not. Some may be considered only as imagination, and some may feel deja vu, considering the fact that their thoughts are really happening.
And what Mingi thought a while ago has come to reality.
Few shouts and shaking fright were heard from above.
"SIR, WATCH OUT!" some shouted, and before Mingi looks up, he felt a big weight crashed on his top.
His mind is blank, he doesn't know what is happening at that moment. What is happening? What is this heavy thing fall on top of me? Am I going to die? Are my thoughts really happening?!
Mingi doesn't know what to do, but all he heard was shouts from above, few beeps of cars, other people on panic checking on him, and some gasps and fast breathing from something on top of him.
Wait, is this a person fell on top of me?
Big kudos to his idea of putting duvet on the ground, accidents are not prone at them now. If duvet is not there, maybe they are both dead now.
He hurriedly looked at someone fell on top of him. And Mingi knows, he has fallen in love at first sight.
His iris are splashed in coffee brown, eyes twinkling as they stared on his. It expressed him as the kind and tamed person, his nose booped below that fits perfectly on his pure and youth-like face, his cheeks look so fluffy that he wants to pinch right away, and flushed with shade of rose pink (yup, Mingi knows the person is blushing, and he's aware that he's blushing too) together with his cute ears. His cute plump lips that is really considered as the cherry on top to his entire features. Mingi really observed him so much that his eyes are about to cross.
Wait a minute, their face are few centimeters close to each other. Mingi can feel the guy's breathing. He can feel his own heartbeat on fast pace.
Yes, a guy. A guy that Mingi never forget starting today.
"I'm sorry Engineer! I was slipped on the window and my harness had been mistakenly unattached on top! I will be extra careful next time!" the guy apologized as he stood up. Mingi already missed the guy's warmth. He didn't realized the guy is much huger than him, as a mere thought that he almost hugged him as he fell.
He stood up too, fixing his uniform. Few people witnessing the incident starts to leave on the scene and call it a day. Some workers are in relief and went back to work.
"It's fine. This duvet looks really helpful after all." Mingi said to the guy. He glanced at the worker's ID.
Jeong Yunho. Foreman.
So he's the head of these workers.
"Oh, you must be the head of the workers on top." Mingi said. The guy named Yunho, nods happily, as if he really loves his job so much. Mingi imagines him as a happy golden retriever wagging his tail.
"I am checking and helping them to their work to make your plans possible, Engineer." Yunho said. Mingi is not that happy to call him like he's a superior.
"You can call me Mingi. I suppose we're on the same age."
"Oh, I'm 1999."
"Same goes with me." Mingi nods. I may stand a chance.
"Well, uhm Mingi," Yunho started, looking at his own worn shoes, flustered. "I owe you a dinner for saving my life I guess? You are here when I fell."
Mingi giggles, "Not that really. If I am not here, you are still alive. The duvet is still on huge help. About your offer, maybe I'll accept. I don't have overtime schedule today."
"But still you're here to catch me after all. And uhm, thank you for accepting my offer." Yunho said as he stared. Mingi can see his ear shading pinkish red. Embarrased and flustered, hmmm cute.
"I thought you're the debris falling a while ago," Mingi stated, "since I am not wearing my helmet."
It's Yunho's turn to giggle, "Beware of falling debris. I see."
But something like a blessing has fallen to me, and I had fallen in love, too.
