Oh, it was a disaster as always and Mark was getting irritated by the company he did not ask for in this current situation. That company being Deadpool, the anti-hero. Sure, he was fighting off the bad guys on foot, but he was doing a piss poor job at not getting in Mark’s way when he’s trying to save innocent civilians on the very dangerously damaged bridge.
He launches a web out to dodge a sudden car door hurling right at him from the villain in the sky. He curses as he watches Deadpool get taken out by it instead.
“Look man,” He yells and shoots a web at another car door being thrown at a panicking civilian and launches it away from harming anyone else. “If you’re gonna be here, can you at least not stress me out more than I already am and have to look after you too?”
However, Deadpool just gets up as if he merely only tripped and laughs. “Damn, how did I not see a fucking car door being thrown at me?” Then he turns to look at Mark crouched on the top of the light pole above him as the hero shook his head at him. “I guess you’re so hot, Spider-man. It’s distracting.”
Mark blinks behind his mask. Is this dude really flirting with him on the bridge their currently on that’s about to collapse at any moment killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent people if this creepy guy in the sky with telekinesis keeps it up? What an insufferable prick.
Mark sighs in annoyance but is soon swooping down to quickly help some people get to safety then he’s swinging around again at the villain in the sky that is currently causing this havoc.
They start to tussle mid-sky and Mark’s winning, it seems. He webs the guy up and yanks a random wire out from a spot that got damaged in an earlier fight. They go spiraling down from the sky and Mark shoots more webs out to a part of a structure of the bridge to keep gravity from killing them both at impact.
He is successful and watches the guy try to free himself as he dangles helplessly now. Pulling out that wire seemed to disable his telekinesis.
Jumping down from the bridge structure, he lands on the ground and stares at the now thankfully empty bridge. He sighs in relief. All except for one person.
He squints his eyes at him and it takes a moment for him to realize the red on his suit is not his suit… it’s blood. Deadpool lay with his back against a car. He looks severely injured.
Mark looks at the villain dangling again and convinces himself he won’t be of any trouble anymore when he’s like that. He jogs over to Deadpool who almost immediately makes him regret it upon approaching him.
“Yeah, that was pretty sexy.”
“Dude.” He furrowed his eyebrows, ignoring what he said completely. “Are you good?”
“Yeah. Give me like 5 minutes and I’ll be just peachy.” He coughs.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m Deadpool.”
“I know but…” Mark looks over his wounds and grimaces at the giant gash on his neck that has ripped his suit, until his eyes spot something that is not red or black. It’s gold. It’s a necklace… an all too familiar necklace. All the worry Mark had for the anti-hero replaces with anger. There’s no way it could be anybody else’s but...
“That necklace… Where the fuck did you get that necklace?”
Donghyuck’s pain subsides for a moment as he stares down at the gold chain with a pendent of the big dipper to match the natural constellation on his skin, knowing exactly where he got it and who gave it to him. His heart aches more at the memory than the open wounds on his body.
“None of your business.”
“You fucking stole it.” Mark accuses.
“It’s none of your fucking business.” Donghyuck spits back, his flirty nature completely disappearing and defensive mode on. A whole new Donghyuck. Then he’s standing before any of them know it.
Mark is about to explode. “You fucking stole it!” He accuses yet again and has to contain himself from strangling this extremely injured anti-hero. “I know you did! You steal shit all the time! I’ve seen it on the news and with my own two eyes!” He grasps him by whatever fabric is left on his ripped up suit.
Donghyuck isn’t one to lose though, his little crush on Spider-man isn’t going to change anything either.
”Let go.” He threatens as he starts to feel his strength rejuvenate a little. If he’s going to have to fight Spider-man over this necklace, he will be ready to do so in about 3 more minutes.
Mark does not let go. “Where did you get it then? It’s one of a kind!”
Donghyuck blinks. “How do you know it’s one of a kind…”
“Because I just do! I also know you stole-“
“I didn’t steal it, okay?! It was given to me!”
“Bullshit!”
“It was a gift!” He finally breaks free of his grasp now that he’s gotten more of his strength regenerated.
But Mark is not listening as he glared heavily at him. “You had to have stolen it off his dead body, he never took it off no matter what!”
And that’s when realization really hits Donghyuck because despite his anti-heroness… he’s incredibly smart. He pieces the puzzle together faster than Mark does.
“That’s right. I never took it off.”
“ He never took it off!” Mark yells to correct him. “I would know, I gave it to him!”
Then Donghyuck is reaching for the only thing that would shut Mark up now that he accidentally gave away his identity.
“No, I mean I never took it off.” He tugs his Deadpool mask off and lets it drop to his side.
Then Mark is silent just as he thought he would be. Frozen, staring right at him.
“Donghyuck…” Is all he can say.
“It’s been a long time, Mark Lee.”
All his anger immediately leaves his body when he understands just why he blew up on him like that. This necklace was given to him by Mark in high school, when they were dating. It couldn’t have possibly been from anyone else.
Mark is still unable to move at this moment until he hears the villain still struggling in the webs. Looking directly at Donghyuck unmasked and only moving his arm, he shoots a web out and it covers the villain's mouth to not ruin their moment.
“But you… you’re Deadpool?”
“And you’re Spiderman.”
They just stare at each other. The realization of why they had so many communication errors in their relationship suddenly made sense. They were both living two separate lives. None of them could be mad at each other now.
“Can you at least take your mask off too? I already know it’s you.”
“Oh um. Yeah. Sure.” Mark scrambles to remove his own mask and they make real eye contact. Those cliché butterflies erupt inside them. It feels unreal.
“Um.” Mark awkwardly says again when Donghyuck is just staring at him and not speaking. He starts to feel shy under his gaze. “We should probably like… get off this bridge. It’s not very safe.”
“So if this bridge collapsed right now, would you save me?”
“Wh-what?! I mean of course. I save everyone.”
Donghyuck’s antic full personality has always been one of the many reasons Mark fell in love with him. There’s never a dull moment with him. He feels the warmth spread in his body all over again when he laughs.
“Can we have our Spideypool moment now?”
“Uh… I think we should like.. definitely get off this bridge before… that.” Mark stammers but Donghyuck is already walking up with piercing eyes that seem to paralyze him yet again.
“I think we should have it on the bridge that’s about to collapse.” He stops right in front of Mark who just stares back at him, anticipating his next move but knowing exactly what this menace has in mind. The menace he’s always loved.
“Right now.” Donghyuck finishes and brings his arms up to rest around Mark’s neck before he leans in and captures his lips. Mark’s hands find his waist and he kisses him back for a moment until they feel the bridge rumble under them, and he’s pulling away.
“Donghyuck, I really think-“
“I really think you should kiss me.” He answered back before leaning into him again and kissing the hell out of him.
Mark gave in and they had their Spideypool moment since that’s what Donghyuck wanted. Once they part, Mark is smiling like a fool in love exactly just what he is.
Then his responsible hero side kicks in and he’s made aware again of the guy still dangling in the air. He makes a quick call to the police to come and get him.
They eventually do walk off the bridge, hand in hand. Masks in their other hand, since the whole nearby city was evacuated. They look around at the mess of a city surrounding them.
“Thank god we don’t have to clean this up.” Donghyuck laughs and Mark shakes his head at the comment.
“Maybe too soon, babe.” They watch as the helicopter picks up the villain they completely abandoned on the crumbling bridge.
Then Donghyuck’s stomach makes a sound and he huffs. “I’m starving.”
“Wanna go to New York?” Mark asks suddenly. Donghyuck just looks at him like he’s crazy.
“Well, the only way to New York from here is through that bridge-“
The bridge finally collapses and they both watch it with wide eyes and silence as it violently hits the water.
“-aaaand it seems that the bridge is no longer a thing.” He continued.
Mark just laughs. “Who needs a bridge when I have webs? And also…” He backs up from Donghyuck and quickly spreads his arms out. “Wings!” The fabric of the wings he spent months working on move against the slight breeze of wind.
“So you’re a flying spider.”
He laughs and nods. He laces an arm around Donghyuck’s waist and shoots a web up at something before looking at him for approval. “So… what do you say?”
“Sure thing, Spideyboy. But if you drop me, just know I won’t die. And I’ll come back and kill you myself. I kinda have a reputation to uphold.” He wraps himself tightly around Mark.
At that, Mark launches them up into the sky. He looks at Donghyuck who is trying to save face at suddenly being so high up, clearly terrified for his life despite being immortal. He smiles at the boy in his arms.
“Don’t worry, I don’t ever plan on letting you go again.”
