Work Text:

“Levi!!!” You shouted as you burst through the front door, already wearing your frog raincoat with a large smile on your face.

“What do you want?” The raven-haired boy answered without breaking eye contact from whatever he was doing. Levi was absorbed in his book, flipping a page as you kicked off your rain boots.

“It’s raining!!! Let’s go out, Levi!!” You shrugged off your raincoat and made a beeline straight for Levi’s room.

“No, brat, it’s cold. And I’ll get wet,” Levi lazily replied, flipping another page of his book as he noticed you standing at his door. You looked dejected, hearing him reject your proposal. Levi hated the rain, because it was cold, gloomy, and boring. However, you looked the total opposite of the gloomy weather; your radiance was comparable to the sun shining brightly on a summer day. Seeing your pout made his heart do a tiny flip. Of course Levi wanted to play with you outside, he would do anything to spend time with you, but there’s no one at home. His mum would definitely not allow him to go out when it’s raining.

Sensing his inner turmoil, you dashed towards Levi and rugby tackled him on the floor, messing up his perfectly combed hair and landing with a loud crash.

“Don’t be a spoilsport Levi! Auntie Kuchel said it was fine, she told my mum we could go out!” You grinned at Levi, face inches from his own while your arms were still tangled around his midsection. Both of you were only eight years old, however Levi couldn’t help but feel heat gathering around his cheeks. The closeness of your bodies left him feeling dazed and confused.

“C’mon,” You forcefully grabbed his hand and yanked him up, pulling him to his wardrobe and rummaging for his raincoat. Levi still had a blank look on his face. You forced the raincoat over his head, and dashed towards the door.

“Let’s go, Levi!”

----------------------

As the rain continued pounding a steady rhythm against the window pane, thunder came cracking through like a sounding whip. Levi was at his desk furiously typing on his laptop, impatiently pushing his reading glasses up his nose.

“Levi!” You shouted as you stood by his door, holding an umbrella in your hand with a little smile.

“What do you want?” Levi answered, eyes trained on the screen. He had a meeting with the company’s board of directors tomorrow, and was preparing his presentation slides.

“It’s raining! Let’s go out, Levi! We can stop by the supermarket for groceries too!” You hung the umbrella by the door knob and looked at him expectantly. You loved rainy days and how the cooler air gave you the perfect opportunity to wear your favourite knitted sweater. You loved the comfort from the steady pitter-patter of the rain, lulling you to a dreamless sleep. Most of all, you loved how Levi, although grumpy and unwilling, always went out with you on rainy days, an arm holding the umbrella while the other warmly held your hand.

“No brat, it’s cold, and I have to finish my presentation slides,” Levi lazily answered with no intention of leaving his seat. You skipped into his study room, flinging your arms around him from behind his chair.

“Aww c’mon Levi, we’re out of groceries. And I promised I’ll make you a vegetable gratin tomorrow,” you kissed his cheek, and lay your chin on his head. Levi rubbed his tired eyes as he removed his glasses, reaching his left hand up to stroke your cheek. Feeling the cold metal on his ring finger touch you made you shiver involuntarily.

“Fine, I need a breather anyway,” Levi held your hand as he gave the matching ring on your finger a kiss, guiding you towards his wardrobe while you chose his outfit. As you rummaged through his clothes, Levi looked at you and let out a chuckle; he felt like he was falling in love with you all over again. Pulling a navy blue sweater over his head, you grabbed Levi’s hand and dashed out of the study room.

“Let’s go, Levi!” Giggling as you took the umbrella from the door.

-

“Hey, Levi,” you poked his cheek, making him turn towards you. The both of you were walking home from the grocer’s. The rain had gotten smaller, yet Levi was still holding the umbrella, sheltering you from the gentle showers.

“Hmm?”

“Do you remember the time when I rugby tackled you to the ground when we were eight?”

“Of course, brat,” Levi rolled his eyes. He’ll remember that day forever, even until death. It was that fateful day when he realised he liked you more than just a friend.

“Have I ever told you that you were blushing mad that day?” You wiggled your eyebrows, thoroughly enjoying the embarrassed look on Levi’s usually expressionless face. “What about my blushing face, you brat?” Levi stopped in his step, giving you a pointed stare.

“Did you fall in love with me that day, Levi?”

“… maybe?”

“Aww c'mon, tell me,” you groaned, grabbing Levi’s free hand, hearing the soft clink of metal. “We’ve known each other since we were in diapers, Levi, admit it.”

“Then you already know the answer,” Levi turned away, refusing you let you tease him any further.

“I want to hear it from you Levi! Say it, won’t you?” You looked at Levi, eyes following him when he turned. “Tell me, Le-” Lips as soft as a feather gently captured your trembling ones, spreading warmth all the way down to your toes.

“I married you, isn’t that good enough?” Levi’s voice was no louder than a whisper. The pitter-patter of the rain and gentle rumbling of distant thunder created a melodious harmony.

“I love you, okay? Now let’s go before I regret my choice,” Levi walked on ahead without you, leaving you getting drenched. You grinned, before rushing towards Levi and jumping onto his back, crossing your arms and legs around him.

“Let’s go, Levi.”
