Work Text:
The smell of the burnt kimchijeon spreads all over the kitchen, making Yoonji jump in surprise. Scrunching up her nose and whining out a silent "Hajima…" she quickly turns off the cooker and runs to the window to open it, hoping the smell of it would leave the room soon, hopefully before Taehyung wakes up. It's not like her to mess up such an easy dish. Leaning back against the wall, she looks at her hands which are gently shaking. Her eyes widen slightly when she realizes it's nerves that are making her act this way, drifting away and not being able to focus on what she loves doing the most recently, cooking. It's so… unlike her.
A grimace shows up on her lips. It's utterly stupid of her to act this way as if she cares what someone would think about her, but she can't help but be nervous about it since it’s a special situation that she's in right now. She bites and pulls on the dry skin on her lip with her teeth showing the red underbelly, and looks at her phone that's lying calmly on the table. It's been calling her name and pulling her towards itself since yesterday after Taehyung edited and posted their video, the video that they've spent so long preparing for, looking for ideas, and choosing the best one where Yoonji would feel the most comfortable at, the first one where his viewers could see her face for the first time, not only hear her voice, the one Taehyung was so excited about that he was basically radiating positive energy for a few days before and after they stopped shooting it.
She wants to check the comments so badly. Just a little, just a tiny peek.
Normally she wouldn't care about what other people might think about her, learning throughout her life, especially after the transition, to not give a fuck about what others think and to not try to please the others, but herself, though right now the situation is different. It's Taehyung's viewers, his audience that both of them love so much, that can see her for the very first time, not some random people she could meet. Somehow it reminds her of how she was invited for dinner to meet Taehyung's family for the very first time. It feels almost the same, after all, he treats them almost like the members of his family.
She bites the inside of her cheek while she tries not to think about checking her phone, too scared of what she can find there, and tries to distract herself from those thoughts by taking care of the burned remains of the kimchijeon on the pan trying to clean it and not scratch its surface. Tricky. The warm water feels nice on her hands. She wipes the pan dry with a paper towel and heats it, just to pour the batter onto it. The spicy smell slowly fills the kitchen, letting Yoonji feel confident in what she likes doing once again.
A gentle sigh escapes her lips when she feels two arms that she knows so well, wrap around her waist, pulling her closer to the warm chest behind her, being surrounded by the familiar scent of her boyfriend's shower gel, poppies, and roses. She breathes in deeply and lets herself melt into his hug, turning her head to the side to meet Taehyung's lips being gently pressed against hers, sending tingles down her spine. The sudden feeling of calmness takes over her, relaxing and soothing her mind. Taehyung, that's all she needs.
"Good morning." The man purrs in his deep voice as he pulls back a little, letting his head fall down and rest on Yoonji's shoulder, sending shivers of pleasure down her spine. God, how much she loves his voice. He's so endearing with that little sleepy pout, messy bed hair, and half-closed eyes, as he tries hard to not fall asleep once again, contrasting so much with his still raspy from sleep voice. "Good morning." She hums in reply as she flips the kimchijeon on the pan. "Is this for me?" Taehyung asks and Yoonji doesn't need to look to the side to see him to know that he's pouting and looking at her with his big pleading eyes, but she does it anyway to take a quick glance, knowing how cute he looks like this, and simply nods her head.
She can feel the arms around her tighten a bit as he hugs her, closing the space between them even more. A smile plays on her lips when she feels Taehyung's soft lips press a kiss on her cheek. "You're the best. You know it, right, Noona?" Her boyfriend says and maybe, as simple as it is, it makes her heart skip a beat and blush cutely. She puts the jeon on the plate and pours two tall glasses of orange juice, and hands Taehyung's portion to him. Leaning towards the counter to be in front of her boyfriend, she can't help and bite her lip, fingers tapping on the glass she has in between her hands. She's dying to look up Taehyung's channel and enter the comment section under his latest video.
The loud hum of approval sounds through the kitchen, making her snap back into reality and look at Taehyung's happy face. He has always made it clear that he loves her cooking, especially because he, himself, can't cook despite his numerous trials at it and lessons he took. "It's so good. How do you always make it so perfect?" She knows he doesn't expect an answer to the question, probably being so vocal to take her mind off of the video and its comment section. Her eyes meet Taehyung's as she nods, biting the inner side of her cheek before she looks down at her hands wrapped around the glass with orange juice swirling prettily in it.
The clang of the chopsticks on the plate makes her look up, meeting Taehyung's eyes as he moves his head to the side and rests his chin on the palm of his hand, looking straight at her making her realize he's been talking to her happily about being excited for the viewers’ reactions to their video. "Noona, I can see you're nervous." He says and follows her glance to the phone sitting on the other side of the counter. Taehyung doesn't say anything, but gets up and walks over to her, turning her towards him and pulling her into his arms. She doesn't object, loving the familiar warmth of his body against hers, his chin resting on the top of her head, little kisses he leaves on the crown of it each time he gently moves his head to the side. He gives her time, understanding her without words.
She breathes in deeply, taking his scent in, closing her eyes, and focusing on how close he is, feeling safe and loved. A long sigh leaves her lips as she relaxes enough to let the tension leave her body and melt into Taehyung's embrace even more. "Want to read them together?" He asks, his voice so calming. "Could we?" Yoonji asks after she nods gently with her head against his chest. "Of course we can. Whatever makes you feel comfortable." Taehyung answers and kisses the top of her head once more before he pulls back, slipping his hand into Yoonji's and intertwining their fingers, leading her towards the living room. She can feel how warm his hand is against her skin, comforting and being the anchor that's grounding her and not letting her spiral into this horrible train of thoughts full of nerves and uncertainty.
With her heart beating loudly in her chest, she doesn't resist when Taehyung pulls her onto his lap and takes out his phone. "Are you ready?" He asks, watching her bite on her lip, fists closed tightly on the hem of her top, trying hard to fight the habit of pulling on the dry skin on her fingers, the anxiety tik that she has had since forever and decided a while ago to fight it. She swallows nervously and snuggles closer to him, making herself feel more comfortable, not only physically but also mentally, just his presence is soothing, before she answers, "Let's do this."
The sound of the phone being unlocked as Taehyung swipes on the screen echoes through her head. She watches how the screen’s light reflects in his glasses, how it dances on his hair and skin. She doesn’t dare to look at the phone itself, instead, she just studies his reactions as he opens his page on Youtube and clicks on the video, slowly scrolling through the comments. The heart is beating loudly in her chest, waiting for him to say something, watching his eyes dart from one side of the screen to the other and back again a few times before he looks up at her with no emotions visible on his face.
"And?" Yoonji manages to choke out, emotions taking over her and squeezing her throat, making her barely able to speak. Her thoughts are starting to speed in the wrong direction before suddenly, the corners of Taehyung's lips crack his poker face and spread his lips wide in a big boxy smile. He hands her the phone and pulls her closer to him, putting his chin on her arm, looking at the comments. "I told you they'll love you." Taehyung's voice is full of joy and warmth, melting her worries away. With a shaking finger, she scrolls through the comments, quickly reading through them and with each of them feeling the heavy stone that was sitting in the pit of her stomach, being lifted, instead, filling her with happiness.
No negative comments. Zero. None. And she can't help but leave a like on every single one of them. A cute giggle leaves her lips before she realizes it and jumps in surprise when she feels Taehyung's warm lips being pressed against her cheek in a quick peck. "I told you my Cummies would love you. They were in love even when just hearing your voice and seeing your hands. If we opened your onlyfans account and posted just your hand pics, we would make a fortune out of them." He chuckles and rests his head back on her shoulder before he takes out his phone and opens the same comment section. Quickly, he finds the comment he saw before when scrolling through the sea of them and pins it.
The alternative title for this video: V simping over his girlfriend for 20 minutes straight
And replies:
Just like everyone in the comments ;P too bad Cummies, she's all mine
He looks up from the screen and meets Yoonji's eyes. Her blushing with excitement and happiness cheeks are all he wants to see every single day, and he'll do anything to make it happen. He leans forward and putting his fingers under her chin, he pulls her closer and kisses her gently. Yoonji doesn't protest. She can feel him smiling against her lips before she pulls back a little, just enough to slip back in between his arms. "Thank you." She whispers, trying to hide her blushing face in his chest. "I didn't do anything, Noona. It's all you. They love you already and are asking for another video with you. Maybe we could try those cringy couple tag videos?" He says softly, letting his hand slip through Yoonji's long black hair, playing with it, knowing that she would never admit to it, but she actually loves these types of videos. "We could do that. Would be fun." He hears her muffled voice as she answers him.
A gentle smile spreads across his face. "Whenever you're ready, Noona." He says and kisses the top of her head, giggling at her muffled squirm, happiness filling the room.
