Work Text:
“Hey Cherri!, you home? I’m coming in.” Angel called.
Angel and Cherri’s friendship was a close one. The sort where they were comfortable with each other meeting up unplanned. Angel had never really had a friendship like this, it felt good.
Angel wiped his feet and walked into Cherri’s apartment. It was hell so nobody cared about shoes inside, even if they did Cherri would understand.
“I’m in the kitchen!” Cherri called back, it sounded like she was in a good mood.
As Angel walked into the kitchen he did indeed find Cherri to be in an extremely good mood, she was making toast.
Angel sat down at the bench across from Cherri and smiled.
“You seem happy”, he said watching as his friend stared intensely at the toaster.
“So do you.” She said as she redirected her attention from the toaster to Angel. “It’s nice, I miss happy Angel”
Angel sighed happily and stretched, resting his top hands behind his head. “Well”, He started. “I didn’t have work today so that's a plus. Then when I didn’t think my day could get any better, that moth bitch was still asleep when I left the hotel.” he finished.
“Moth bitch, huh. Are you talking about Vaggie or Valentino?” Cherri asked.
“Vaggie, Why would Val be at the hotel?” He paused for a moment. “I’d take Vaggie over Valentino any day though, she’s nowhere near as bad, just a bit annoying and judgemental.”
Cherri laughed and nodded. “She and Charlie seem alright, I mean they both hate me, but they seem alright”, Cherri said.
“I don’t think Charlie hates you”, he reassured. “I don’t think it's possible for her to hate anyone actually.” He laughed.
The toast popped up and Cherri got a plate out of the draw under the bench and walked over to the toaster.
“So, you know why I’m in a good mood, now, what’s got you so happy?” Angel asked.
“I finally saved up enough money to hire IMP” Cherri explained. “They seemed pretty happy to have a hit outside of the USA, I don’t think they get to do that very often.” She went on. “Anyway, I paid them a little extra to steal some Vegemite, and they actually did it!”
Cherri excitedly showed Angel a jar of brown spread with a yellow and red label.
“I always forget you’re Australian.” Angel said, laughing slightly. “Isn’t Vegemite gross anyway?” He asked.
“Not if you eat it right.” Cherri answered. “Here, I’ll make you some toast. We can have one piece each.” She said, grabbing out another plate.
“Should I try a bit on my finger first to see if I like it?” Angel asked, grabbing the jar and trying to open it, before having Cherri snatch it from his hands.
“No! That’s the worst way to eat it!” she said. “Have it with toast and butter, and if you take a bite and don’t like it I’ll eat it.” She said as she started to spread the butter onto the toast.
Once she had finished making the toast, she pushed the two plates over to the other side of the bench and walked around to sit next to Angel.
Angel doubtfully picked up his and took a small bite, he was pleasantly surprised.
“Huh, this is actually pretty good!” Angel said before taking a bigger bite.
“Told you!” Cherri laughed as she started at her own piece of toast.
Today had been a good day for both of them, It was very refreshing to have a day like this.
