Work Text:
The bloodstains on my teeth are just the ashes of your kiss.
And the bruises on my knuckles are the echoes of your fervent touch.
Apparitions of sin that rewind through my mind again,
Death’s mistress, my ego’s Priapus descends into a long forgotten hush.
Sometimes the cold side of the pillow was the warmth of your chest,
And the part of your lips served as the overture of my devotion.
To have and to hold, to sacrifice and to surrender,
Lucifer now sings your dirge in unison with my heart’s erosion.
Tonight, your memory pools at my feet as this shower fools my vulnerability,
Escaping by the skin of my teeth with sensations of the skin of your neck.
They can skin me alive and I know you want to as well,
The way you fell into the clutches of hell while cradled in wings vantablack.
Vulnerable or cajoled, I don’t know
A maverick’s heart of gold, or if it was all for show,
If those 3 decades of love and loss were just a lie,
An exhibition match in the game of how long we were willing to try.
Wearing trauma like a dress, a dress rehearsal for the Shakespearean tragedy of our mess
I can confess that yes I don’t always know what’s best but I just dare you to guess
How much searching for that ludicrous glimmer of hope strangles my spirit
How I’m tirelessly tangled in the idea that holding on to you is worth it.
Insecurity yours and mine, unsure embraces that walked a fine line,
They say it’ll be cured in time, but in my mind, there is no time when you’re not mine.
This is not a requiem for the loss of my archangel,
More-so a plea for my Gabriel to finally be let free.
From the clutches of vengeance, from the Reaper’s sick flirtations,
From the rejections of connection, from a skin-branded memory.
From restless nights alone, from a mind begging to decay,
My weary eyes still know your existence lies deep in our regret's mist gray.
And clinging to burning talons sharp, paralyzed by senescent aches dull,
I never want to be alone on this earth while hugging your rotting skull.
