“I thought you were gone,” Jake tells him, immediately feeling foolish for saying such a thing. He’s going to feel this way everyday for the next four months, and Heeseung won’t be walking through the door to allay his fears then. He might as well get used to it.
The agitation must show on his face because Heeseung shifts closer and takes Jake’s hand in his own. He says, “I’m sorry for disappearing like that, and for scaring you. But I’m not leaving you, Jake, I promise. I’ll come back, okay? I promise.”
Jake nods, and giggles in spite of the heartache when Heeseung kisses his nose.
