Wanted for: Mass murder
When a case has as little detail as case 51781, there's not much help when it comes to investigation. You might even wonder why this killer had their own file, if nothing was known about them. How did people even know the murders were by the same person?
That was an easy question to answer. Method.
Serial killers rarely, if ever, stray from their methods. They enjoy killing in the same method repeatedly. It's like leaving a signature without revealing your identity.
The method of the killer in file 51781 was brutal and bloody. Bodies left mutilated, killed in a matter of different ways. But something was always the same. The victim, eyes wide in petrified fear, had a black handprint across their cheek. In one hand, they always clutched a scrap of denim. Whether they were strangled, stabbed, burned, or beaten, these two things were always the same. A black handprint... And denim.
Denim. That was the most important part.
Tsunagu Hakamada- more commonly known as the #4 hero, Best Jeanist- didn't seem like the emotional type. He didn't seem like the type to have a loud, annoying laugh, and he certainly didn't seem like the type of man to put every hour he had off from official hero work searching for one villain who didn't even have a known eye color.
Well oops. He was all of those things.
He was emotional; though he kept his face hidden while working, during time off all he wanted to do was yell and cry.
His laugh was annoying, almost donkey-like, back when it could still be heard. Nowadays, it was surprising to hear him snicker.
And he put more effort into tracking down that villain than he put into anything else. More effort than he put into fashion, more than hero patrols (an issue he was trying to fix), and even more than chasing criminals.
If there was anything worth doing in the world, finding the villian from file number 51781 was at the top.
Yūrei Phantom, Astra Hantu, and Penerima Jantung were all best friends. They were all freshly graduated, newly-deemed official pro heroes, and they all missed the same person.
It wasn't abnormal for hero students to die in training. It wasn't common, and it wasn't happy, but it wasn't abnormal. In a high stress, dangerous environment, it's bound to happen. Take Shirakumo Oboro and Iblis Angel as examples of this.
Oboro Shirakumo was crushed under debris fighting a villain during an internship, and Angel Iblis tripped during after school extra credit training and was impaled on a spike.
Yūrei, Penerima, and Astra didn't believe their friend had died in training. They believed it so little that Yūrei broke into the police station and stole classified files. Thanks to that, the three of them were now convinced that Angel's disappearance had something to do with Villain File #51781.
U.A. Was keeping this relation a secret. Something connected them; something big enough that lying about a student dying at school was the better option. All they had to do was prove it.
