Five Important Moments

Summary:

Five important moments in Sirius and Remus’s relationship that they both remember, from absolute worst to absolute best

Notes:

I have joined the ‘five times they blank’ trend. It starts off angsty and gets happier each chapter. Hope you guys enjoy! :)

Chapter 1: The Leaky Cauldron

Chapter Text

The last time they see each other, tensions are high. Remus is suspicious of Sirius, and Sirius is suspicious of Remus. The romantic feelings they have for each other are overshadowed by fear. Fear that the other could be the traitor. Fear that the other doesn’t love them. Fear that their friends are in danger.

They’re in a secluded booth in the Leaky Cauldron just at the moment. Remus is giving Sirius werewolf intel in a hushed tone. He looks exhausted, and Sirius hates that he’s not sure if it’s because he’s really been up for three days straight collecting intel, or if it’s because he spent all that time giving the Death Eaters all of the Order’s secrets.

“So that’s it then?” Sirius asks, lips in a tight, thin line as he gazes up at Remus. “The werewolves are on Voldemort’s side?”

“Most of them,” Remus says, giving Sirius a sharp look. “You seem to have forgotten to include me in the equation.”

“Excuse me for having my doubts-“

“Oh, that’s rich coming from a member of the notorious Black family!”

“Exactly what are you insinuating, Remus?”

“I should be the one asking you that, Sirius.”

There’s a heated stare down, neither of the two backing down. Sirius doesn’t look away, but he’s the first one to speak again.

“I don’t know what you’re doing anymore, Remus, or where it is you’re actually running off to on these missions, but I’m keeping a close eye on you. And if you ever even think of-“

“Think of what, Sirius? Go ahead and finish that sentence. You think I’m a monster? I thought you knew me better than that.”

“Yeah, well I thought you knew me better too,” Sirius rises from the table, a hurt and angry look in his eyes as he begins to turn away.

“Where are you going now?” Remus scowls in frustration.

“I’m going to check on James and Lily, you know, something a friend would do. Don’t follow me.”

Remus, who had been getting up, now sinks back down into the booth, and watches as Sirius leaves the pub.

He doesn’t know that he won’t see him again after tonight for another thirteen years.
