Chapter Text

Summer break.

The warm weather, parties, later curfews, brighter skies, no school: the classic teenage dream.

Well for most, Katsuki Bakugou would disagree.

The air was hot and sticky, she wasn’t invited to any parties, she didn’t go anywhere for a curfew to matter and having no school made her feel utterly unproductive.

Here she was sat in the car for the past 2 hours, sweaty legs sticking to the leather seats, music blaring in her ear to ignore her parents chatting away to Into and Deku. She didn’t want to come on this stupid trip in the first place. Her parents and Midoriyas mother had rented a beach house for them to stay together. Three months they’d be there for, three whole months! She was not looking forward to it in the slightest.

The car pulled to a halt ripping her from her trance. She tugged her headphones down leaving them around her neck, her music still being heard faintly through the speaker.

“Fucking move it Deku, I wanna get out of the damn car” She complained kicking the back of his chair

“Give me a minute, that’s what you get for sitting in the back with all the luggage!”

She kicked his chair again, “Respect your elders”

“You’re barely older than me!”

“Will you two stop bickering, you’ve got the whole summer to do so!” Mitsuki quipped

They silenced, Izuko finally getting out of his seat and pulling it forward so Katsuki could climb out.

“Okay grab your bags and start unpacking”

Right as the blonde started getting her suitcase out a car pulled up to the house next to them, out stepped a girl with obnoxious red hair who looked around her age along with two older women.

“Do you think they’re lesbians?” She heard her father whisper to her Inko

She ignored it, too busy staring at the girl. She had small tattoos scattered about her body, multiple ear piercing as well as a black undercut only visible due to her hair being tied in a bun.

The redhead must have noticed the staring because she smiled, waving at the blonde.

Katsuki visibly flushed, glaring before aggressively grabbing her suitcase and pulling it inside.

Kirishima stood confused hand still raised, staring at the spot the blonde once was.

“Eijiro dear, come help me and your mum unpack”

“Er right sorry mama”

Bakugou dragged her suitcase upstairs to where her room was. It was quite tiny, consisting of nothing but a single bed pushed against the wall near the window, a wardrobe next to a set of draws and a dressing table next to the door.

She was lucky enough for it to have a cheap fan.

This was her home for the summer.

She sat on the bed testing the mattress, it was relatively soft, sleepable.

She flipped into her stomach rummaging through her backpack to find a notebook and pencil she’d bought for this exact occasion. She actually enjoyed writing.

-

Day 1 of the worst summer ever.

We just got to the house. It’s nice, cool architecture. The doors are big and have patterns carved into the frames.

I’m just glad to be out of that fucking car.

My room’s small but it’s cosy I guess. You can tell it used to be a kids room, you can see where there were once glow-in-the-dark stickers on the ceiling, they must have been too lazy to take them down so they just painted over them.

I saw a girl, she’s staying next door.

I should unpack, might as well get it out of the way.

-

She tucked the book under her pillow, lugging her body over to her suitcase.

Within the hour she’d managed to finish putting everything away and was starving.

She heading to downstairs to the kitchen, where her mum and Inko were packing the fridge and cupboards with food they'd brought, Masura bringing more bags from the car.

“You went shopping?” She asked

“Yes, we did say goodbye, you probably didn’t hear us because you always have them damn headphones on” Her mother replied

“I’m hungry” She said ignoring what her mother was saying beforehand

“Make a sandwich, we have cheese and cucumber somewhere. Make one for Izuko too”

“Why?”

“Because it’s polite”

“But-“

“Don’t worry dear, I’ll make it” Inko butted in

“Inko don’t baby her” Mitsuki complained

“It’s fine it’s fine”

“Thank you Auntie”

“No probably. Go wait in the garden I’ll bring it to you”

She nodded heading out the back doors to the garden. She noticed the green-haired freckled boy sitting at the far end on a folding table. She decided to join him.

“Hey Kacchan”

“Hi nerd”

“The rooms are quite tiny right?”

“Yep”

“Do you want to come to the beach with me later?”

“No”

“Why not?”

“Because why would I?”

“Are you gonna be like this all summer?” He asked disappointedly

“I didn’t wanna come here in the first place, so yes”

He just rolled his eyes.

Inko came out with two plates soon after.
