Work Text:
Hunched over his desk, Weisz was nearly finished a project he'd spent all day on. As usual, he ended up diving headfirst into his craft when he wanted to take his mind off things. He was better off creating or fixing something rather than moping.
Everyone was off doing their own thing - even Shiki, who had insisted earlier he was too busy to hang out. It wouldn't usually bother him all too much, but it'd been the first time in a while the crew had gotten a break from saving planets under Ziggy's reign.
Weisz couldn't help but feel a little lonely.
Clicking the last pieces of the machine into place, he sighed deeply. It wasn't Shiki's fault - they may be dating, but he wasn't owed every second of the Demon King's time. If anything, Shiki shouldered the weight of more responsibility than all of them, so it was understandable he would want some time to himself as well. He hoped Shiki was at least taking care of himself.
Just then, almost like clockwork, there was an enthusiastic knock at his door. He tilted his head quizzically and placed the contraption on his desk.
"Come in."
The door slid open and his heart did a flip when he saw Shiki poke his spikey head in.
"Shiki? I thought you were busy today?"
"I was, but I'm not anymore," Shiki smiled as he walked over to where Weisz was. He slammed a bottle and pair of drinking glasses onto the desk, much to Weisz's surprise, "Let's have a drink together!"
Peculiar coming from Shiki. He wasn't one to drink often, and it seemed to come out of nowhere. Weisz looked over at the glass bottle and his eyes widened. He grabbed it, and took a closer look, thinking his eyes were deceiving him.
It was from Norma. A popular whiskey from 50 some odd years ago, and it just so happened to be one of Weisz's favourites. The label alone brought him such nostalgia - of the better half of his days in Sibirs gang. However he'd not seen it around anywhere in the future no matter how much he looked at any given opportunity.
"Wha- where-" the blonde stumbled over his words, "How in the cosmos did you get your hands on this?"
Shiki proudly puffed his chest out and put his hands on his hips, "I've got my sources. It pays to be an Oracion Seis Galactica member sometimes."
"Abusing your power?" Weisz teased, shooting him a sly smirk.
"No! Er, not really anyways," Shiki blushed and scratched his cheek. "But I had to find it, you told me it was your favourite. I had time today, and I wanted to surprise you."
His heart could barely take it, how thoughtful Shiki always was, from the day they met until now. Weisz couldn't hold back a giddy smile over him remembering something so seemingly trivial he'd probably only mentioned years ago at this point.
"I'm grateful, but why go to such lengths for a bottle of booze?"
"Well," Shiki pulled up an empty chair and sat next to Weisz, cracking open the cap of the bottle and pouring a glass for each of them. "I guess to properly celebrate 3 years."
Weisz froze in place. Surely he hadn't missed anything - they definitely hadn't even been dating for that long. And regardless, he could never forget their anniversary date proper.
He raised an eyebrow as Shiki handed a glass to him, "3 years? I think you're getting ahead of yourself, Gravity Boy."
"Ahh, not our anniversary! At least, not the one since we've been a couple," the other man waved his hand back and forth. He then shifted his gaze downward into his glass, a fond expression on his face as he gently traced the rim, "3 years since we first met back on Norma."
His eyes widened. Shiki was such a special part of his life, every day he counted his lucky stars that the gravity boy crash landed on Norma back then. What would his life have been had that not been the case? Certainly not as bright and warm.
Shiki must have carried the same sentiment if he had remembered it exactly. By now his heart was doing full acrobatics in his chest.
The Demon King took one of Weisz's hands in his own, "You're so important to me, Weisz. Not only as my boyfriend, but as a friend that I was able to grow and laugh alongside. Ending up 50 years in the past might have been a mistake, but if it hadn't happened, we never would have met. So I'm glad things turned out the way they did."
"Same here," Weisz grinned, squeezing his lover's hand. "It's because of you I found the right path, and a place to call home. I love you so much Shiki, you mean the universe to me."
"And I love you! So," Shiki held up his glass to the blonde, hands still intertwined, "Cheers to us!"
Indulging his captain, Weisz raised his glass and gently tapped it against his. As he pulled the glass away, he couldn't help but lose himself in Shiki's sparkling violet eyes. He leaned into him, pressing their lips together and kissing him deeply.
Cheeks warm and cherry red before even a sip of alcohol, he slowly pulled away, eyes fluttering open with the twinkle of love.
"Yeah, cheers to us."
