Work Text:
“c’mon, sol, just a few photos,” seungkwan whines.
“but it’s so cheesy.”
“it’s our prom, we’re allowed to be cheesy. please?” he pouts and hansol is not the strongest soldier out there.
“okay, just a few.”
seungkwan grabs hansol’s arms and pulls him to the line next to the photobooth. he’s bubbling with excitement and hansol doesn’t try to hold back the smile.
their clothes are matching. hansol wears black pants with a baby pink blouse and seungkwan a black one and baby pink pants. seungkwan not only planned it, but also sewed everything. the pearls on the necklace of hansol’s shirt are the same as the ones on seungkwan’s pants waistband, and even the small embroidered flower on their cuffs match.
it’s sweet and so seungkwan that hansol’s heart feels warm and full.
when they were on the way, seungkwan was nervous people would make fun of them, but in the end, everyone at the school was used to them being glued to the hip, no one was surprised they were matching at the prom nor that they were each other’s company.
“you know, kwannie, i really like this shirt, i might wear it to my brother’s wedding.” he says, admiring the way the fabric falls perfectly on his upper body.
“no you won’t, i’m sewing something for you specially for the wedding.”
“you are?” hansol’s eyebrows arch and he can see seungkwan’s ears turning red. a few days before he dyed his hair blue and it looked so soft hansol had to hold him back all the time not to keep touching it.
“it was a surprise,” he says softly and averts his eyes. he’s wearing black eyeliner and pink lipstick, his skin glowing softly in the lights.
“our clothes are matching again?”
“no.”
“why not?”
seungkwan turns to him, surprise and something else sparkling on his eyes.
“you wanna match again?”
“yeah, of course. we always match whenever you sew.”
“but it’s your brother’s wedding.”
“so?”
“you’re the best man.”
“your mind is incredible, i know you’ll think of a way to make us match.”
the smile he opens is huge and hansol smiles back.
“thank you for trusting my work, sol.”
the teacher organizing the line calls them and they enter the photobooth.
the prom theme is “underwater”, so the entire decoration of the school’s auditorium is with shades of blue and sea animals. the photobooth is the same, entirely blue, with some sparkles and pink starfishes.
“wasn’t back to the future prom theme also underwater?” hansol asks and seungkwan hits him on the arm, looking at the mirror and camera.
“shut up, let’s take the photos.”
the first one they only stare at it. they can see the face they’re making in the mirror and hansol’s eyes are lost in seungkwan.
it took some time for hansol to realize his feelings for his best friend, but even after he did, it was not a surprise. it just made sense and it was like finally finding the answer to a question long unanswered. hansol loving seungkwan was the right thing and he had a feeling seungkwan loved him back - because it also made sense.
hansol and seungkwan, seungkwan and hansol. there were no doubts.
for the second photo, hansol gets closer to the camera and seungkwan puts his finger on hansol’s cheek. for the third, they both do hearts in their cheeks.
hansol feels something bubbling on his chest, and when he hears the click of the third photo, he leans and presses his lips against seungkwan’s.
it’s quick and he’s a bit afraid, but seungkwan immediately puts his arms around hansol and presses his face against his shoulder and he’s blushing and everything is alright.
that’s how they get captured in the fourth pic, and when they leave, the teacher gives it to them and hushes them away to not get in the way of the rest of the line.
seungkwan intertwines their fingers, the other hand clutching on the photos, and pulls hansol to the back door, across the stairs and to the soccer field, where they finally stop. he’s breathing hard and still blushing, but a smile is playing on his lips.
“kiss me again.” he orders.
and hansol couldn’t be happier to obey.
he holds seungkwan’s face, his thumbs brushing his skin, and kisses him. seungkwan holds his waist, sighing into the kiss before opening his lips, melting against his best friend.
they kiss and kiss and kiss, until their lips are sore and seungkwan starts to shiver from the cold wind. he moves his face away, but gets even closer to hansol.
“so i guess we can go matching to the wedding,” he whispers and hansol laughs, his fingers finally touching the blue strands.
“i was hoping we would.”
“we will be the best looking couple there.”
“there will be literally the bride and the groom.”
“i don’t care.”
hansol laughs again and steals one – or two or three more kisses.
