Dr Breen Loses an Arm Wrestling Match to Wheatley

Summary:

Wheatley doesn't seem to care that he doesn't have arms.

Notes:

My sister and I took turns giving each other crack prompts and then writing them out at the same time. This was one of mine.

Work Text:

“Yes?” Dr. Breen kept his eyes on his paperwork at the sound of the doors opening to his office. He figured this new announcement had something to do with that rogue physicist who somehow kept eluding the Combine's efforts over and over. It was something he heard about more and more each day.

“Whoa, I didn’t think I’d make it this far. Good thing I’m speaking in an accent beyond everyone’s range of hearing,” a voice in an English accent traveled past him.

Dr Breen looked up and saw a core with a blue eye exploring his room through the same ceiling mechanism he normally had in use for stalker pods. Was this the work of Aperture Science, Black Mesa’s old competitor?

“But how…” Breen said.

“Oh! You found me,” Wheatley chuckled as a group of Combine Elite soldiers approached the door. Breen dismissed them with a wave of his hand.

“Say, do you know where I am? I have to admit, I am very lost right now. Very lost,” Wheatley said.

“I am Earth’s Administrator. You are in my headquarters. What, may I ask, is a core doing here?”

“Oh, a portal in Aperture led me allllllll the way to this huge tower somehow. Crazy, I know. I figure I must be pretty far from home, and to be honest with you, the people here aren’t very nice. Especially those, what do you call them, City Scanners. Blimey. Anyway, can you tell me how to get back into Aperture?”

Breen opened his mouth but couldn’t find the words.

Wheatley narrowed his eye. “Well that’s awfully convenient, isn’t it. You’re the Administrator and you can’t even tell me jack squat. You know what?” Wheatley hopped off his rail and onto Breen’s desk. “You humans think you know everything. Let’s arm wrestle.”

“But… What?” Breen said, noting his lack of arms. The Combine Advisor on his screen looked confused.

“I win,” Wheatley said, rolling away.
