"Person A is lounging on the couch on Father's Day when Person B approaches and hands them a card. A is confused, as they don't have kids yet, until they open it and see a picture of B holding a positive pregnancy test/adoption papers/etc. How they react is up to you!"

Work Text:

Rosemary paced around the kitchen anxiously as she held a small card in her hands. She had made it herself with a piece of folded paper and some stencils, and she used the best stationary she could muster up to put 'Happy Father's Day!' on the front of it.

Jack was in the living room, reading a book on entrepreneurship to help himself learn how to run his and Felix's joint-owned business, 'Bunny Smiles Incorporated.' They were first needing to try and create the company before they did anything, but Felix had send Jack home for 'a much needed break,' as he said.

But in reality, it was Linda that got Felix to send Jack home, Rosemary had been confiding in her and planning to have Jack home for Father's Day. She ran her hand over her stomach once again, nervous as she thought about the small piece of life inside her. She had gone to the doctor the day before and got the confirmation; she was pregnant with her first child. Her and Jack's child.

Rosemary was less scared of raising a child than how Jack would react to the news...well, she was a little nervous of the former too. But she and Jack had been together through a lot ever since high school, so she was sure that nothing bad would happen. But even with her sureness, there was still a part of her that was nervous.

The woman took a deep breath; it was either she tell Jack herself or he would learn it from someone else, and she couldn't have Felix drunkenly spilling the beans before she told Jack. Looking over the card in her hand once more, she steeled her resolve and walked into their living room.

Jack noticed her coming in and looked up from his book with a smile. To anyone else, that smile might be scary or untrustworthy, but to those who have known him for much longer, they could tell that his smile was harmless. "Oh, hello, Rose. You look tired, come and sit down." He beckoned her to a spot on the couch next to him.

Rosemary felt comforted that her husband was in a good mood, and she sat down next to him. By the time this was over, he would hopefully be in a better mood. "Oh, I should give this to you before I forget, darling." Rosemary handed Jack the card with a smile. "I made it myself!"

Jack read it over, and his expression turned confused. "'Happy Father's Day'... Rose, I, um, appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'm not a father yet. Unless you wanted to adopt or something...?" He murmured, his face turning red.

"How about you open up the card and read what's inside, my dear?" She replied with a smile, pointing to the card. Jack chuckled and opened up the card, but stopped making any noise at all as his face began to heat up more.

Inside the card was a doctor's note glued in. When it came to a pregnancy test involving a frog laying eggs, the signs showed that Rosemary had indeed become pregnant, and it was ended with a doctor's signature. Jack's mouth had fallen open at this news.

"Well, I suppose it's appropriate now to say 'Happy Father's Day,' my sweet cheshire cat." Rosemary purred as she hugged him from behind. Based on Jack's reaction, it seemed that he was not opposed to this at all.

Jack suddenly jumped off the couch and picked up Rosemary, spinning her around in his arms. "Oh my god, Rose, we're going to be parents?!" He squealed, casting dignity to the wind as he smiled ecstatically.

Rosemary giggled as she was spun around. "N-Not so tight, sweetheart, we don't want to hurt the baby!" She laughed, and Jack put her down immediately.

"O-Oh, wait, is the baby hurt?" He immediately got concerned. Despite his ungraceful tendencies, Rosemary knew that he was already going to be a good father.

"No, they aren't, but you're going to have to be a bit more gentler with me until the baby's born, and maybe a bit after then." Rose happily sat down again, pulling Jack down with her. "For now, we should come up with names! For a girl, I was thinking maybe Sophie. If it's a boy, do you have any name ideas?"

"Hm, maybe Thomas? You're really putting me on the spot here, Rosie!" Jack joked. "But we should tell Felix and Linda, they'd love to hear this!"

"Oh, they do. How do you think I got Felix to send you home early?" She smiled coyly as she reclined on the couch. "I told Linda, and I assumed that she spread the word, and I got her to get Felix to get you home so I can tell you."

"Wait, you're the one who..." Jack trailed off, and then let out a laugh. "You little minx, I swear! You planned this!"

"I did indeed, Jack. And you can't do anything about it." Rosemary watched Jack playfully as he looked winded on the couch, seeming rather exited yet still in shock about becoming a father. "Don't look so surprised, angel, what did you think would happen?"

Jack never answered her as he continued to process it, and he soon finally got his thoughts back in order enough to start cuddling his wife with tears in his eyes. "Oh my god, Rosie, we're gonna be parents!" He half-whispered, and Rosemary let him hug her.

She was quite amused, all things considered. It seemed like Jack was going to act like a golden retriever for the rest of the week, and she had resigned herself to being stuck on that couch for as long as it took for her dear husband to regain his bearings and help her plan for their child's future. But no matter what lay ahead of them, she knew they would face it together.
