Chapter Text
dear deena,
well it's been a week since it happened. uh, i'm still not sure that this is reality and not a nightmare. me and simon really miss you and the others. also, it turns out sarah fier was innocent. it's all the goode family's fault. should've guessed. 'perfect' chief nick goode was always suspicious. like when we went to talk to him and that other dumb cop you stole a gun from. it's 2am so i'm gonna try to sleep. goodnight.
- kate
kate sighed and put down her pencil. she put the letter in its envelope and put it in her box with the others. she didn't bother getting changed and carefully laid herself down onto her bed. her and simon had recently been released from the hospital. simon with a axe wound to the stomach and kate with two stab wounds to her stomach. it hurt to move sometimes, but the two managed. they hung out every day because they were afraid to be alone. when it was time to sleep, they slept over at each others houses. simon was passed out on the bed, limbs everywhere. kate was next to him, curled up into a ball, facing him. sometimes one of them, or both, had nightmares about the night. the night their friends died. deena got her throat sliced, sam drowned, and josh got his head chopped in half by night wing. simon and kate were lucky that they got away alive. they couldn't go to their friends funerals because they were recovering in the hospital. every saturday the two go to the cemetery and leave flowers.
kate shot awake at about 5am. another nightmare. she sighed as she looked at the shaking boy next to her. he was probably having one too. she put her hand in his and squeezed it, in hopes of reassuring simon he was okay. he slowly started to calm down. he pulls his hand up to his chest, making kate fall backwards. she winced at the pain in her stomach when she fell. she looked back at simon. she smiled. she loved her best friend so much. they've been friends since kindergarten. it's a miracle they had stayed together for so long. they both knew people expected them to start dating. typical friends to lovers cliché. but they didn't like each other like that. they never had and they never will. both of them had something they were longing to tell the other. they never found the time to tell, but they would. eventually.
