When Derek got off the phone with Penelope he was concerned as she sounded distracted as her usual flirting with him wasn’t the usual banter they would have over the phone, he was glad to get back to the BAU and get to the bottom of what was going on with his Baby Girl as he needed to see her and make sure she was ok as the case they had just closed was bad and so as he entered the lift with the others he voiced his concerns to see what they would say.
“Guys do you think my Baby Girl is ok as she hasn’t been her usual flirty self these past few days and just now she was distracted she even closed our conversation with ‘bye Derek’ she never does that was she like that when you guys were on any calls with her?”
Spencer contemplated the question as he noticed that the woman he considered his sister in all but blood had been very much distracted not for the past few days but weeks and he had a feeling it had to do with that idiot Lynch and hoped his Penny didn’t commit murder as he would have been put out that he hadn’t been able to help her, JJ was on a similar thought path as Spencer and when she looked at Emily she could see the woman contemplating at least 50 different ways she could kill Lynch and get away with it and when she looked towards Hotch and Rossi she could see they were ready to throw down if Penelope was even hurt in any way as they were even more protective of Garcia than Derek which was saying something and she realised Derek was awaiting some sort of answer from at least one of them so spoke up.
“I noticed that too Derek but I chalked it up to the case but maybe it has something to do with Lynch as I recall her telling myself and Emily on our last girls night that she was going to end Kevin bit the rest is hazy as alcohol was involved but that’s the best I can think off”
It was at that moment the lift doors opened and they were greeted by a nervous Agent Grant Anderson who the team could rely on to keep Penelope safe when they were away on a case and were on alert at the rolls of nervous energy he was exuding and when they had gotten out of the lift it was Aaron Hotchner who asked him what was wrong as he knew Anderson would be able to say what was wrong and not fumble his words.
“Agent Hotchner thank god you guys are back I think Penelope has cracked you see two hours ago I saw technical analyst Kevin Lynch go into her lair and he hasn’t come out but it’s not what you think as when I went up to her door which is still slightly ajar by the way I could her muttering and the sounds of duct tape and male whimpering but it was her rambling that had turned from quiet mutterings into full blown rambling rant that was definitely aimed at Lynch and I’ve no idea how else to help her I mean I’ve managed to keep Strauss at bay for now but I’m at a loss on how to help”
Grant Anderson managed to get out without stumbling over his words and when he took in the rest of the team he could see smirks and remnants of shock that had probably been on their faces as he was talking and knew that they weren’t angry with him more proud especially Rossi at his comment about Strauss and keeping her at bay.
Aaron thanked the stars that he had such a good agent who could protect his team and also look out for their bubbly tech and would make sure he had a supply of Rossi’s good coffee for the rest of his time at FBI and next time they went out for team night he would be invited as the others also like him, “thank you Grant that’s helpful information to know and if you could keep watch we shall go and see what is going on also when we leave here tonight your welcome to join for drinks ok”
When he got a nod Aaron knew he’d done the right thing and then turned and signaled to the rest of the team that they should make their way towards Penelope’s lair. Before they did move though Emily asked Grant a question they were all thinking “Grant why exactly P.G mad at Lynch?” Grant looked at the profilers and could see curiosity and honest bafflement and so he bestowed the news that hadn’t reached them and would add at the end of his explanation how he thought she had told them.
“Well you see she has been like this for the last couple of hours but she seemed to be heading towards this for the last few weeks whilst you’ve been away on cases but I think she’s managed to hide it until now, so you see last week while you were in Florida for a case well Penelope and Kevin broke up and it looked as if Kevin had a death wish because whatever he said to her as now made her finally snap and do something I mean nothing too drastic anyway I think the duct tape came out when he kept talking as he never knows when to shut up and was making things worse for himself, then after that I heard her swearing and then it was like a flip switched and she started to speak to him in a very calm yet sarcastic way which honestly frightened me, I’m not sure if you have ever seen Penelope angry but she goes deathly calm and I’ve seen a few people on the receiving end cry or run quickly come to think of it sometimes it has happened when you guys have been away on cases sorry I’m diverting anyway I thought it would be best to wait for you and let you know which I have but I was supposed to be filing these for Strauss and hour ago so I’ll go and keep her occupied while you go see Penelope so I’ll see ya guys and if Strauss leaves her office for any reason I shall text”
With that lengthy explanation he was gone and the team were in awe of the fountain of information Anderson had just given them and then squared their shoulders and continued towards their ray of sunshine that at this moment was more ray of destruction.
When they got closer to their personal tech’s door they made sure to be as stealthy as they could when they peered in after managing to open the door further and saw a petrified looking Kevin Lynch tied to a chair and duct tape over his mouth he kept throwing glances to her severely wishing he never underestimated her and was also put out at the fact she seemed to have forgotten he was still in the room with her.
The team watched with rapt attention on Penelope seemed to start her rant up again completely oblivious to Kevin now
“So you thought I wouldn’t find out about your other women huh? Well you’re an idiot god I’m so furious mad at you right now you absolute ass wipe well ya new girlfriend won’t know what hit her look at her finances and woopsie now they’re gone hah stupid idiot men thinking they won’t be obliterated see stupid Lynch your next in the cyber swipe all your many hours of progress in that stupid game whoosh gone now forever so take that stupid nerd see this wouldn’t have happened if you had just kept your mouth shut and left me alone when I said it was over coz once I get my JJ, Emmy, chocolate thunder to kick your ass its endsville for you mister and I’m sure between Spencer, Hotch man and Rossi they can make sure you disappear to never surface again in the FBI”
As she had been ranting out loud the team saw Lynch pale considerably, now Kevin knew that’s exactly what would happen when the team finds out how he broke Penelope’s heart and was keen not to be left alone with them and when he happened to glance towards the door that held his freedom he could see it was definitely short lived as the whole team were there and had heard every word that came out of Penelope’s mouth and he could feel he was now on the verge of a panic attack.
Spencer thought it would be best to walk into the lair first and try and calm his sister down which he did when she paused pacing and was clearly fighting the tears from coming once again and hugged her to him and when he felt her relax he moved her to the couch in the corner of her lair and they lost themselves in Doctor Who on her laptop.
Hotch and Rossi decided to close the door as they knew Anderson knew the knock if he couldn’t send a text to warn them if the dragon lady was on her way and signaled that JJ and Emily could go and surround themselves around Penelope and Spencer even though they clearly wanted to hurt Lynch for hurting their ball of sunshine but knew that himself, Rossi and Morgan would talk to the idiot and that one of them would be making sure Kevin Lynch had transferred to another country.
When JJ walked past Kevin with Emily by her side she gave the idiot a slap on the back of the head and Emily pulled her along so she didn’t do it again, Rossi declared he would talk to Erin Strauss as he had some sway with her then once he had gone Morgan untied Kevin and didn’t take the tape of his mouth until they walked out the door as he decided to escort him off the premises and when Hotch looked over to Penelope and saw she was distracted he nipped to his go bag that he had left near the door to get the troll doll he bought to cheer up her lair from all the gory stuff she sees from the cases and walked over and gave it her he received a hug and then he settled himself at the desk in front of the couch and did some paperwork whilst he waited for the other two males of his team to get back and was over joyed that Penelope seemed to be doing a lot better now and once they were all together they would collect Anderson and get a well-deserved drink even if it meant going to Rossi’s and relaxing there he would be happy.
What made them all know their bubbly tech was back on the way to being better was when her laughter rang out with Reid’s at something that appeared on screen and all their hearts felt lighter at that and knew she was going to be just fine.
