Hellfire and wolfpacks.

Summary:

Steve thought he’d finally get a break. Hawkins was saved-ish and he’d survived. However being a werewolf he wasn’t exactly normal. And after a late night driving he runs into Eddie. Who is meant to be dead.

Chapter 1: Chapter one

Chapter Text

Down a road in the outskirts of Hawkins Steve drove quietly, no radio or anything like that. He was exhausted and just wanted to go home. Last night had been one of the more painful shifts, since he was attacked. At 6AM on a Saturday the road tended to be quiet. Maybe you’d see a deer but Steve never usually saw anything like that. To be fair most of the wildlife took a hit when the upside down collapsed into Hawkins. With the wild wolves giving him this disease would he even want to see a wild deer.

Steve drove quickly across the countryside. Not caring about staying on the ‘correct’ side of the road, he wanted to get some sort of sleep before work. After reapplying for college he got into a schoolteacher course. Apparently Hawkins just really needed teachers and Steve fit the bill. Problem was his parents didn’t support his career choice so they didn’t help him and student grants only went so far. He could only work on weekends and plus after college he picked Max up from school most days due to her limited vision and mobility.

SCREEECHHHH

Suddenly steve slammed on the breaks. Who the fuck lies in the middle of a country road in the middle of nowhere. Steve rushed out of the car. Was he dead? He was just a mass of hair at that point in time, Steve tapped his shoulder and the man sprang up. Bearing his teeth, he jumped forwards. Fuck! Out of instinct Steve pushed him down, the man lost his footing. Eddie? No. That was impossible, but there he was alive and breathing.

“Eddie!” Steve shouted.

The man, no Eddie, struggled to get up before going white and falling back. Steve couldn’t just leave him out here. And his parents were never home, so Steve carried Eddie’s limp body to his car. Praying by some miracle that he wouldn’t wake up and attack him. Driving back was tense, suddenly Steve no longer was sleepy and instead he was in survival mode. Which likely meant looking in every single room of his house once he arrived home. His parents would have some rope somewhere in the house, he could tie Eddie to his bed so he wouldn’t escape and attack someone. If the dude was a werewolf like him raw meat would sáciate his hunger and Steve would be able to be like his, fuck what was that green guy called from that space film, well his that. He’d have to ask Robin about it.

Fuck he was gonna have to be quick. God knows when Eddie was gonna wake up again. Hell he could wake up in the car and attack him. He sped up his driveway and grabbed some rope from his garage dragging Eddie to his room. Gods sake don’t wake up. Once he placed the man on his bed he restrained him, shittily tied knots that would hopefully hold or at least be out of reach. And he left to the lounge. Robin was at work right now and she might know what’s going on.

“Hey how can I help?”
“Robin it’s Steve.”
“God dude what are you doing awake? You need to go to bed.”
“Listen can you stop by mine after work or I’ll pick you up. I’m gonna need the whole gang for this.”
“Shit okay dude suspicious but I’ll be there.”

Steve flipped on the tv, wasn’t like he was going to sleep and started doing some coursework. Education wasn’t the degree his parents wanted for him but it fit him well and it was the only degree that would take him anyways. Robin got into some cool course which made sense because she’s really smart and Nancy well she was already off at university studying journalism. Hell she’ll nearly be finished this year. Whereas he started just a year ago, Hawkins had a lot of space in colleges after the ‘earthquake’ and Steve decided to apply. Mostly due to his parents pressure.

Steve’s work started to blur on the second chapter. His eyes closed slowly and before he knew it he was slowly being lulled to sleep by the tv.

BANG! BANG! BANG! Steve shot up. Someone was braying on his door. What time was it? 3:30 shit. Was Eddie okay? Robin didn’t finish before 4. So who was there. He opened the door a crack. There was a gaggle of kids at his door. Well they weren’t really kids. Hell they were applying to college but he was getting ahead of himself.

“Robin said you were hiding something!” Dustin said letting himself in.
“Well yeah that’s fine come into my house uninvited I’m fine with that.”
“Oh I appreciate the offer.” Dustin smiled as the rest of the group came in. “So what are you hiding from us. Some sort of secret baby you’ve had and are wondering if it has werewolf powers or not.”
“No.” Steve sighed. “Listen all of you. No matter what is in that room you have to promise me that you’ll stay away from it.”
“Steve come on we beat the upside down finally what could be worse than that.” Mike said.
“Promise me.”
“Fine I promise” he got a chorus of I promises from the group. “Now show us show us!”

Steve lead the group upstairs. To see Eddie.

“Steve, why is he here?” Dustin’s voice trembled. “He’s dead, I held him whilst he died.”
Steve hugged the distraught gang. “It’s gonna be okay.” He comforted. “I promise it’s gonna be okay.”

Suddenly Eddie sprang up beating fangs again but stuck by the ropes. At least they worked temporarily. “Everyone get out I’m going to sort this.”

Everyone ran to the lounge and Steve grabbed a packet of bloody mince from the fridge. Grossly he knew a werewolf on high instinct would eat that, from experience. Here goes nothing. He handed it over to Eddie who started drinking the blood, he ignored the meat completely. Almost completely driven by instinct. Somehow escaping the ropes whilst reaching for the food. Eddie wasn’t a werewolf.

“Steve, you’re okay!” He cheered. “What’s going on?” Eddie finally calmed enough to understand where he was. And that he himself was supposed to be dead. “Steve. What’s going on?”
“Eddie there’s a lot to talk about, do you remember anything about today?”
“No I’m lost. Why am I tied to your bed? And why do I taste blood, Steve?”
“I think we should get everyone in, you might want some water too.”
