Work Text:
When Bam wanted to train, he would do so. He never thought much about the weather when he would train - it was mostly inside, anyway.
But it was too much this time, and he didn't want to pass out from exhaustion.
The training was easy in the winter and was a way to warm himself up, but in this insane heat, it wouldn't do any good. It made Bam feel bad as he escaped from everyone as they suffered from the heat.
The floor they were staying on housed a body of water, something like a lake. It seemed iridescent as Bam rolled up his trouser legs, eager to feel the effects of the seemingly cool water.
As Bam lowers one foot into the water, he gasps lightly, not expecting the water to be as cold and refreshing as it was.
Everyone was busy, probably cooling off, at least that's what Bam wanted to believe anyway.
If there was any worry in Bam's heart, it was being soothed away by the relaxing sound of water. As Bam moved his legs more in the water, the splashing sounds he made became louder. It was a welcome distraction.
Bam leans back, his arms behind him propping him up. The heat from before shifted, and all Bam could feel was the water as it cooled him down.
Someone else knew how to cool Bam down, and it wasn't in a literal sense either. Khun was more than a friend. He was someone Bam could lean on.
Cold arms wrap around Bam's shoulders from behind.
"You can't escape from me," Khun whispers smugly into Bam's ear.
As those soft words vibrate across Bam's skin, he smiles. He wanted Khun to find him. Spending time together, just by themselves, didn't seem like too much of a bad idea.
Even if the sky was artificial, it seemed bright, blindingly so. It was all enough to make Bam feel drowsy. Khun could sense Bam's irritation and perched himself beside him.
"Why don't you ever come and find me, Bam?" Khun complains, his hand on Bam's shoulder, tilting his head onto his cold shoulder.
"I didn't want to inconvenience you or the others," Bam replies softly.
Khun sighs and rolls his eyes. "You've never done that once since I've known you," his fingers sift through Bam's brown locks, fingertips soothing him even more.
"You're making me sleepier," Bam comments closing his eyes and enjoying Khun's company.
"Yeah, but has it helped you cool down?"
"A lot, actually,"
Bam wasn't necessarily playful, but when he wanted to surprise Khun, he did, but it was something he rarely ever did. He removes a leg from the water and pushes it back in quickly.
As expected, both Khun and Bam got wet from the splash.
Khun releases a low chuckle, "why am I not surprised?"
Bam grins as he reaches for Khun's hand, pulling them up from the patch of grass. And as Bam continued through the water, the chill rose, engulfing his trousers.
"Shit," Bam uttered silently, "it's cold,"
"Your legs must've been numb from before,"
"Are you making the water colder?"
"No," Khun replies, splashing water towards Bam.
They weren't little kids. But it did feel nice to escape the worries of climbing up the tower.
It was just the two of them, there was no one around, and it was quiet. The only sound of chaos came from the water as they fought playfully in the water.
Harmless fun was the best type of fun. Bam's playfulness truly shone in front of Khun, someone who would tease others, but never Bam. He could get away with anything with Khun, and Khun knew this all too well.
The joy Khun felt as Bam laughed, splashing water towards him. It was so cute and innocent-seeming, and he adored every little sound Bam made. Khun just wanted to see more and more of Bam being human.
Khun's splashes weren't all that intense, and neither were Bam's.
Bam stills for a moment, calming himself down from all the laughter.
Khun watched as Bam's controlled his laughter, his hands above his knees.
"It's moments like this that I adore the most," Khun says, wading through the water to reach Bam, "seeing yourself let go like this, you have no idea how happy it makes me feel,"
As Bam stands up straight, Khun's hand cup his face. He closes his eyes as a soft kiss gets planted on his forehead. It was something so soft and so warm feeling. But it was the warmth that Bam loved feeling from Khun.
Neither of them had to speak. It was clear how much Khun and Bam loved each other. Bam and Khun had spent so much time apart that it meant the world to have moments like this. And once they realised how much they needed each other, Bam and Khun had to admit it.
They would spend every moment together because they didn't know when circumstances would split them again.
Khun made Bam a better person, and Bam made Khun the same - nothing would take them away from one another.
"My legs are going numb," Bam complains, wading through the water to sit back on the grass.
Khun follows and sits beside Bam once again.
"Are you going to spend the whole day out here?" Khun asks.
The heat hits Bam again, his legs no longer in the water. "Are you?"
Khun sighs, "that depends on you,"
"I'll stay here all day, but only if you're willing to stay here with me,"
"I've told you before, I'll always follow you, even into danger,"
Bam smiles, reaching his hand other to Khun's. "This tower's been nothing but dangerous,"
Thinking about everything that had happened seemed to have made Bam a little tense. Khun was thinking of a way to snap him out of it.
Khun sneaks his hand away from Bam's, reaches under Bam's shirt, and pokes his back with one finger. His shinsu made the touch as cold as possible.
"Khun," Bam gasps, pulling the back of his shirt down.
"You were over-thinking. I couldn't help it,"
Khun wasn't dumb, and Bam knew that. Bam's face always gave away how he felt.
Bam lays back on the grass, his feet kicking in and out of the water. As his eyes close, Khun takes notice of him.
"You're not allowed to worry about anything right now," Khun explains as he lays beside Bam, "we're alive. Let's enjoy the peace while it lasts,"
Khun's hand brushes down Bam's arm and again links his hand with his. Bam smiles as he feels Khun's hand.
The gentle sound of water repeated in their ears.
They wanted more moments like this with each other.
