Notes:

First off, I am terribly sorry this is sosososos late. I kinda got into a writing slump from writing all of inuokko week fics in succession to each other, and it was a little harder to think of a prompt for free day, but! I've never done a +1 fic and thought it would be perfect :)

please enjoy!

Work Text:

Yuuta was always clumsy, ever since that first day they met in Jujutsu Tech. With the fear of the foreboding curse attached to him combined with his anxiety, there’s bound to be some accidents, luckily he had someone around him to always help out.

1.

Toge frowned in concentration as he wrapped Yuuta’s head up. The mission before had been a disaster with a higher grade curse suddenly appearing, and Yuuta got hurt because he couldn’t act fast enough.

The nurse wasn’t in at the moment, so Toge took it upon himself to treat Yuuta, living in the Jujustu world for your whole life gives you some experience on first aid.

“Takana?” He asked.

Yuuta’s eyes shifted everywhere but him, “Uh..?”

Toge sighed, more to himself, he understands only knowing his onigiri speech for a couple weeks wouldn’t make you an expert on it. He taps the bandages and follows it with a thumbs up, Does it feel better?

“Oh! The bandages feel fine, yes.” He rushed out.

Toge gave a little smile, not that he could see it, and nodded. The cursed speech user backed away from the bed Yuuta was on and went to the desk to find a notepad.

Humming in triumph once he found one, he grabbed a pen to write a note to the nurse and something else.

He placed the note on the desk for the nurse and walked back to Yuuta, he made a questioning noise when handed the paper.

Head injuries tend to bleed a lot, so don’t worry if it starts up again and it seems like you’ll bleed out. When you need your bandages changed, head to the nurse or come find me.

“Come find you?” Yuuta read aloud quietly.

“Shake.” Toge answered with a thumbs up and a smile that crinkled around his eyes.

Yuuta’s eyes lightened up, shining with something, “Thank you, Inumaki-kun!”

2.

Toge loved taking care of his flowers. It was a fun little side hobby he had started when he saw how barren the school yard was. It was, surprisingly, suggested by Gojo, Toge once pointed to the dry cracked dirt with concern and Gojo simply answered, “It’s a little lonely isn’t it? Why don’t you plant something there!”

He was now growing all sorts of flowers, from tulips to peonies to roses, he cared for them all painstakingly.

And it was only him, he didn’t blame his classmates for not having time to help out, so he was thoroughly confused when he saw Yuuta crouching near the roses.

Watering can in hand, Toge walked over to where Yuuta seemed to be fiddling with the roses.

“Kombu?” Toge asked.

Yuuta yelped and jumped which made Toge nearly drop his gardening tool, “I-Inumaki-kun! Ah!”

The curse user gripped his pointer finger in his other hand, “Sorry! You startled me,” He chuckled nervously.

Toge raised his eyebrows questioningly, flicking his gaze to his finger. It clicked in his mind too slowly that Yuuta had flinched his hand into the roses.

He placed his can down and crouched near him quickly, pointing to his own finger with a concerned expression.

“Oh…it’s ok! I just nicked myself on the thorn is all, I didn’t want to get blood on your pretty flower beds.” Yuuta smiled meekly.

Toge huffed and motioned to his hands, making a grabbing motion, “Uh?” Yuuta reluctantly gave him his injured finger.

Toge frowned deeply and hoisted the both of them up, “Woah!”

He dragged his clumsy classmate over to the clean spigot that jutted out of the school wall and turned it on.

“Inumaki-kun, I’m ok! It’s just a small prick, I’ll be fine.” Yuuta mumbled.

Inumaki shook his head in defiance and put his hand closer to the running water, “Tuna,”

Yuuta got the message and unclasped his finger to run it under the water, he winced at the freezing temperature, but washed the blood away.

Yuuta was right, it was a small nick after all the blood was washed away, but the cursed speech user knows a thing or two about unattended wounds.

Inumaki brought out his handkerchief to help dry his finger, Yuuta was still fumbling and apologizing which Inumaki shook his head fondly at.

After the blood was washed away and his finger was dry, Inumaki offered him a bandage that he always kept on him, “Takana, Yuuta.”

Yuuta gaped at the offering, “It’s- it’s only a small cut!”

Inumaki frowned, “Takana. Yuuta.” He pushed his hand closer, insisting.

Yuuta flicked his gaze from the bandage to Inumaki’s eyes until he finally gave up, “You’re too kind, Inumaki-kun.” He sighed with a smile.

Inumaki smiled back, proudly.

Yuuta went to grab the bandage, but Inumaki pulled back. He opened the bandage on his own and made a grabbing motion to Yuuta's hands.

He understood, but still sighed, “Way too kind.”

Inumaki ignored him and wrapped his finger up nice and tightly, “Shake Shake.” He said with a lilt to his voice like he was holding back laughter.

Yuuta took his hand back and stared at his finger, “A flower bandage? Do you always carry these?”

Inumaki gave a thumbs up.

Yuuta smiled softly at his now flower adorned finger, “Thank you, Inumaki-kun!”

3.

Yuuta was not a newcomer when it came to bruises and aches, but after every training session with Maki, he was a whiny mess, somehow Maki’s blows are in their own league of pain.

The boy was currently pouting on the dorm living room couch, clutching his midsection, “Oh, come on, Yuuta. I didn’t hit you that hard.” Maki drawled, exasperated.

“You did though! We literally had to stop training because Rika came out!” Yuuta argued, failing his hands in the air for emphasis, which ended in him wincing and curling back into himself.

Maki rolled her eyes and held no remorse, “That just means you need to train harder,”

Yuuta loudly groaned and buried his head into the couch cushions.

“What’s got him screaming?” Panda said, walking in from the yard after helping Toge with his flowers.

“Takana?” Toge inquired peering around his fuzzy classmate.

“He’s whining about our training sesh.” Maki supplied.

Panda winced in sympathy while Toge made his way over to the withering boy, “Tuna tuna,”

Yuuta peaked an eye open and saw Toge leaning over him, “”m ok, just in a lot of pain,”

Toge frowned the same time Maki yelled from a distance that she was (begrudgingly) sorry. Yuuta let out a huff, straining to get up to meet Toge’s eyes, “You were tending to your flowers?”

Toge nodded, pointing over to Panda, “Ahh, sorry I couldn’t help today too,” the injured boy apologized.

Toge stood up straight from leaning over the other, shaking his head and pointing to Maki, “I would choose your flowers over Maki’s brutal training any day.” Yuuta joked.

Yuuta narrowly dodged a flying pencil that came from Maki’s direction, Toge stifled a laugh at the others' horrified face.

“Tuna,” Toge voiced.

Yuuta turned to him with a questioning tilt to his head, the cursed speech user motioned to Yuuta’s stomach and nudged his head in the direction of the infirmary.

“Oh, I should put some ice on this, you're right.” Yuuta admitted.

Toge huffed and grabbed his arm gently, to help him from the couch, Yuuta winced slightly but reassured his classmate that he was just sore. They made their way to the infirmary (not without the cooes from their other two classmates), Yuuta slightly leaning on Toge’s shoulder, the further they got in their first year the more Yuuta seemed to grow, Toge swears he wasn’t hyperaware.

Once in front of the door, Toge nudged it open with his foot so he wouldn’t jostle the boy leaning against him. They found an empty bed, so Yuuta promptly flopped down onto it, “How come the nurses beds always feel the most comfortable only when you're injured?” Yuuta asked, woefully. Toge chuckled at his antics and shuffled around the room to find ice packs and some bruise cream.

Yuuta straightened up on the bed when Toge made his way back with the supplies, he silently handed him an ice pack which he immediately placed on his stomach.

“Y’know…” Yuuta started. Toge looked up from where he was trying to open the new bruise cream tube and hummed, “This kinda reminds me of after our first mission, when you had to bandage my head.” Yuuta chuckled, smiling fondly.

The curse user could tell the other smiled at the memory as well when the corners of his eyes crinkled. “How many more times will you have to take care of me, I wonder,” Yuuta muttered.

Toge stared at him for a few moments, then turned towards the nurses desk, “Inumaki-kun?”

It took a few more moments for him to return in front of Yuuta, paper in hand.

He took the note, his eyes scanned over the words almost a hundred times, trying to make sure he read them correctly.

I don’t mind if it’s for forever.

Yuuta gaped at the note, eyes shooting upward to his classmate, he was turned to the side where Yuuta could only see his ears (and noted how red they were turning), idly applying the cream to a cotton pad.

Yuuta laughed, a little unbelieving, making Toge turn his head ever so slightly to see the others reaction. The curse user was smiling dumbly, holding the paper close to him, “I…I wouldn’t mind that either.”

Toge blinked dumbly, processing his words, once it clicked in his brain he pulled his collar up higher so as to hide his face more, “Sujiko…”

Yuuta laughed again at him and didn’t stop smiling after. Toge approached him once again to apply the cream saturated cotton pad and all his visible bruises.

Yuuta flinched, “That’s cold!” Toge huffed good naturedly and continued to take care of the other.

“Even so, thank you, Inumaki-kun.”

Toge knew he wasn't just thanking him for tending to his wounds that time.

+1

The Jujutsu Tech dorms were always melancholic after Shibuya. Many students were called to help clean the city, or those sporting severe injuries. But there are rare times where there was a little life to the dorms.

Toge always enjoyed cooking as a pass time, it always let his brain turn off and be put on auto pilot. Yuuta always liked to help out in the kitchen when Toge was there, he knew the second Toge’s brain went offline, but he didn’t need any instructions on what to do around the kitchen, no matter what it was, they fell in sync with each other.

When Yuuta was grabbing bowls to plate the stew they were cooking, he was interrupted by a sharp painful inhale and clattering. He whipped around instantly, eyes landing on a curled up Toge.

“Inumaki-kun!” He abandoned the bowls and raced over to kneel down beside him.

Yuuta noticed the ladle discarded off to the side on the tile, the hand that held it was gripping Toge’s stump harshly, “Is it..?” Yuuta mumbled mostly to himself, too scared to raise his voice any higher.

Toge breathed out a harsh breath and sucked it back in, nodding.

“Let’s get you to the couch, can I touch you?” Toge nodded stiffly, that’s all Yuuta needed to wrap his arms around him gently to guide him to the couch.

This wasn’t a new occurrence, ever since losing his arm from being caught up in Sukuna’s domain, he was afflicted with phantom pains. Everyone in the dorm did the best research they could, along with the help of Shoko-san, to help Toge when it would flare up.

Yuuta carefully set Toge down on the couch and helped him lean back, “I need to grab some things, I’ll be just a minute.” Yuuta explained, he got a nod in response.

He quickly made his way to Toge’s room, they always had everything they needed for this in reach. He came out of the room carrying a comically large stuffed panda (a gift from Panda) and extra seal bandages, just in case his stitches reopened.

Yuuta announced when he came back into the living room to not scare the other. The cursed speech user was currently curled up sideways on the couch clutching his arm, “Here…” Yuuta spoke softly and offered the stuffed animal, “We should elevate it for now.”

Toge glanced at him and slightly uncurled himself, Yuuta took no time to waste and carefully slipped the panda under his arm, successfully propping it up. He groaned in pain from moving his stump which made Yuuta incessantly apologize.

“Did that help at all?” Yuuta cautioned.

Toge took a minute to respond, gauging his pain while also still in pain, he ended up shaking his head, “Would you like me to massage it, Maki told me it helped you before.”

Toge slowly shut his eyes nodding slowly with a long inhale, preparing for his wound to be touched, “Tell me if I make it worse at all,”

Yuuta slowly shifted closer to his classmate and gently placed his hand around what’s left of his arm. Toge breathed out slowly, the touch not hurting as much as he expected it to, he peeked open one eye and was surprised at how focused the other looked, he couldn’t help the amused huff that slipped out.

Yuuta was too concentrated on not hurting Toge to hear him slightly laugh at him, he slowly moved his hand around the area of the stump, remembering everything Maki and Shoko had told him.

Much to Toge’s surprise, the pain faded a little, it was still definitely there, but it was much more bearable now. The pain melted away with each ministration by Yuuta, he sighed now being able to comfortably breathe. Yuuta’s hand made its way from the bottom of his arm to his shoulder, gently soothing every muscle.

When Yuuta noticed how relaxed the other was, he chanced a glance at him, to his relief, Toge was smiling warmly at him.

Almost instinctively, he smiled back, “Hey…how does it feel?”

Toge’s eyes slipped shut sleepily, “Shake,” he gave a lazy thumbs up.

The curse user let out a long sigh from making himself tense over the situation, “I’m glad,” he slowly pulled away from his arm, not wanting to bump it and ruin everything, “Let’s get you to bed, that pain is really draining, isn’t it?”

Toge hummed in reply and sat up as well, wincing slightly from small aches, but he was able to lift himself from the couch. Yuuta glued himself to his side, not too overbearing but there if Toge needed something to lean on.

The cursed speech user grabbed his stuffed panda and held it close to his chest, planning on taking it back to his room. Yuuta laughed, “It’s criminal how soft and comfy that is.”

Toge nodded in agreement and made his way to his room, Yuuta following close behind.

Once they got to his door, Toge suddenly stopped, Yuuta made a noise of confusion.

Toge turned around to face the other and smiled gratefully, “Thank you, Yuuta.”

Yuuta stood in shock for a moment, but eventually melted into something softer, “Of course, Toge.”

The two made their way into Toge’s room to nap the afternoon away, everyone else would have to deal with the food gone cold on the counter.
