Chapter Text

Shikanoin Heizou was a normal boy, that's if you can really call him that. It's true that before today he went to college, had a group of friends, and pissed off his teacher Kujou Sara all the time. The biggest difference being that Shikanoin Heizou was a part of a group of individuals known by the media to be supernaturals as original as it was. The supernaturals were like humans, but they all had a certain special ability that they’ve been able to master when they are born, similar to how a normal human child learns to walk. Learning the ability came with time and use like walking. Heizou used his gift very few times, but every time he used it he was able to save a life. His gift was the ability to see the future. Every vision was a mystery he had to unravel to get it to mean something. Because of this, Heizou has mastered the art of putting things together with very little clues. He was like an amature detective, and when he was out of college he would be the greatest detective the world has seen, to even solve crimes before they happen.

Unfortunately his supernatural status had some downsides. They for one were a very rare breed of person. In other countries they could be seen as test subjects. Only recently has Japan seen them as human beings and not as something to be captured and tested on. Thanks to their numbers, the few who are around and are even semi vocal about being supernatural are usually kidnapped and sold to countries who want to learn about this power and take it for themselves. Snezhnaya was known for making most of these dirty deals. They weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty for what they think is the greater good.

This is how Heizou arrived here. Gagged and tied to the bars of a cage ready to be boxed up and shipped to Snezhnaya. Honestly Heizou didn’t think he was vocal enough about his talents to be captured like this, but the few cases he had solved using this power must have slipped much to Heizou wanting to keep them a secret till he was ready and out of school. He let his guard down. He felt foolish. Usually this wouldn’t be a problem for him to get out of, but they seemed to predict his every move. These weren’t your usual enemies. They must have studied him for weeks, maybe even months.

Heizou considered himself to be a strong person, but this case slightly freaked him out. He didn’t have a plan or an escape. He only hoped he could use his nails to somehow cut his bindings. Without that problem getting out of the cage would just need one bobby pin that he always had hidden in his hair for emergencies.

He was only part way through the rope when someone noticed and went to rip off his nails. Now Heizou was more frightened than he was cocky. It was when they just got to him when someone spoke.

“Kidnapping helpless supernaturals? As expected of you, but I am here to stop your transgressions.”

Heizou noticed immediately someone standing in the rafters of the warehouse. They had white hair in a side ponytail with a red stripe going through one of his bangs. He was in a dark suit with little wind designs on it and kind of looked like a pretty boy to be honest. Maybe the male was his age? It was hard to tell from this angle.

“Damn it! It's the supernatural saver” One of the kidnappers grunts.

“The one that's as fast as wind?!” A smaller kidnapper looks worried at the other.

Before the other could respond the boy jumped down and defeated them with one blow of the sword before taking a key off one of the kidnappers coats before unlocking Heizou’s cage and ungagging him.

“I had that covered… I didn’t need someone like you to help me,” Heizou says, embarrassed he needed help from a mysterious vigilante.

The white haired man chuckled, “You didn’t look like you had it covered.”

“Well I totally did but-” Heizou gasps in surprise, “Look out!”

Heizou’s savior made a quick jump forward to avoid the blade of a kidnapper. The man chuckles and kicks his assailant in the face.

“Who are you anyways?” Heizou asks, shuffling slightly hoping the man would untie him sooner rather than later.

“I go by many names, the pro supernatural media call me the windswept wanderer. Snezhnayan’s call me an annoyance, but you may call me Kaedehara Kazuha.” He slices another assailant with his sword again.

Heizou glances away slightly before speaking, “Shikanoin Heizou… Thank you for saving me.”

“Oh? Aren’t you that highschool detective? Though ever so quiet about your powers it is slightly evident that you have them to people who look closely.” Kazuha takes his sword and cuts Heizou’s bindings before picking him up.

“Do you have powers?” Heizou asks as Kazuha jumps up into rafters running onto the roof.

Kazuha shakes his head, “No… I simply learned an ancient art of using the wind to my advantage by a bard in Monstandt during my travels.”

Heizou supposed that explained how he was able to jump so high and why he was called the windswept wanderer. He takes a moment to think before asking another question, “Why do you help supernaturals if you aren’t one?”

Kazuha stops suddenly and looks saddened. He simply smiles and looks up at the moon, “I lost a friend who was one. He was cocky and smart like you. I now take care of his cat. I don’t want any other friends to lose their friends just because of a gift they’re born with.”

Heizou thought about that answer as they stood still for a long moment. Eventually Kazuha starts to move again. Heizou figured he shouldn’t pry into the other’s life anymore.

“So what power do you have?” Kazuha finally asked, breaking the silence.

“I can see the future… but it's given to me through flashes and hints, I need to use my investigative prowess to figure out what will happen and help it occur or stop it,” Heizou answers gripping onto Kazuha tighter every time he jumps from one roof to another.

“It’s a useful power… Heizou, do you ever want to help people, even before they are ever going to be in danger?” Kazuha asks.

“More than anything-”

“Then why don’t you help me? We can use your gift for good and save a lot of people,”

Heizou stays quiet thinking about his answer slightly when Kazuha sets him down in front of his house.

“So? What do you say?” Kazuha tilts his head waiting for an answer from the smaller male.

Heizou sighed, “I need more time to think about it, but… that isn’t a no.”

Kazuha chuckles and smiles a bit, “I’ll see you tomorrow for your answer then,”

With that Kazuha was gone leaving Heizou alone with his thoughts. Taking his key he opens his apartment door before locking it behind him. He flops onto the bed thinking of his answer for the next day.
