Min was a lake, clear and blue, but most of all calm. Ryan was the sunset that was reflected across his waters. Red and orange and pink and yellow all mixed together to form a rainbow of warm colors. He was temporary, a time where you can only see him once a day, but he was unforgettable.
In Min's opinion at least.
Even without the romantic lens he viewed him in, Ryan was bright enough to stand out, but he never burned those who would turn to look at him.
Maybe at first, when Ryan was a baby star who wanted to shine and never felt like he shined enough. That caused him some trouble when his light got in the way of other people, or when he lashed out with a burning anger from a complicated pain Min would never fully comprehend.
But the train helped. And Ryan was able to get better at limiting outbursts that hurt everyone around him including himself, and he was able to slow down. No longer at risk of going supernova.
Min was proud to say that he helped Ryan calm down, being the lake who helped douse accidental fires and provided a solace that he needed. A sign to slow down, that there's no need to rush into being a giant star, that they'll get there one day together.
Ryan also helped him realize that chances were fleeting, that even though happiness was there, it didn't mean it was permanent. Like sunsets, the chance to reach for the stars had a time limit, and even if it's always in the back of his mind, there was no saying when that star will die.
They complement each other, Min realized.
He was the water Ryan needed to put out the flames with, and Ryan was the sun that decorated his surface with a myriad of colors, that drowned out the boredom that came with the same blues and greens.
Min thought that was lovely.
