"Please take it, my King," whispered Dora.
The young mother tugged the delicate constellation-adorned blanket off of her precious egg and gently placed it in Danny's arms. Indeed, the newly crowned Ghost King had to do the honor of carrying the future heir of the Dragon Kingdom first.
A deathless was always big news in the realm of Death, but a new realm lord was an even bigger announcement. The Kingdom had been celebrating for days, and Dora had invited friends for the occasion, both living and dead.
In a corner of the throne room sat Sam and Tuck, and Danny could see on the goth’s face unconcealed immeasurable pride (as well as a small teardrop). Time has passed well since they liberated these lands of Aragon’s iron claws. They were only fourteen years old, and today Team Phantom had passed twenty-five.
The ex prince was hidden in the shadows of another corner, with an expression close to a pout; without the coronation of Danny's, as uncle, surely he would have been the first to carry the egg.
Danny had never seen reptile eggs before, but if someone had asked him how he would have imagined it, he would have described it as such. He carefully palmed the thing covered in smooth and hard scales, the top was emerald color fading to dark purple at its bottom. From it emanated a luminous energy common to ghosts, but this one was particularly warm, reminding Danny of the softness and strength of both its parents.
"They say the one who hears the first sound of an egg will be blessed by luck," Danny heard the voice of a certain Time God in his head. Secretly he wished it would be him. Suddenly, Danny flinched and put his ear on the surface of the egg, while still being careful that the green flames of his heavy crown do not touch it.
"Something wrong my King?" said Dora. Fright Knight had ceased his conversation with Dan and Sidney to cock his head, a faint concern impossible to miss on his impassible skeletal face
A wide smile appeared on the King's face, "I can hear two heartbeats."
On the blanket, the constellation Gemini shone brightly.
