Chapter 1: [G] Alice and Kotohime - Kindred
Summary:
Alice encounters an unfamiliar face..
Chapter Text
Alice didn't recognise the woman whom had stopped outside her home, her eyes roaming around the forest.
She was by the window, tending to some flowers when the mysterious figure walked into the vicinity of her home. The elegant purple kimono and long red hair was striking in the tenebrous forest, drawing attention off of everything else. In a location which was often encapsulated in darkness, the woman stood out, as if she was drawing out the light herself.
"Perhaps she is lost" Alice said to herself out loud.
It wouldn't be the first or last time Alice had sheltered lost travellers so seeing this woman meander around, appearing slightly perplexed brought out her natural instinct to help.
With Hourai perched on her shoulder, Alice went outside of her home which caught the attention of the stranger.
The magician walked to her gate cautiously in an effort to not spook her, "Hello, may I help you?".
With her hands tucked into the wide sleeves of her kimono, the woman curiously took in Alice before relaxing a tad, "I do apologise. It appears as if I have lost my way. The reputation of this forest as being beautiful yet treacherous certainly has credence".
The formal speaking pattern reeked of nobility.
Alice opened the gate, the closer distance allowing her to take in the woman.
Her brilliant red eyes peered up at her from beneath her fringe as the quaint smile seemed to appear slowly.
"That happens quite often so no need to apologise" Alice reassured, "Can I ask where you are heading so that I can direct you?".
A small bow, "If it would not be too much of an inconvenience. I was searching for the puppeter whom is rumoured to live in this forest, so I was told by Ellen".
The magician was charmed, "It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Alice".
"Oh" Kotohime expressed and took in the blonde, "How fortuitous to end up here" she giggled, "My name is Kotohime".
The name rang a bell from Reimu and Marisa's stories, though it was the least of Alice's concerns. Her mesmeric guest had her full attention as the stray beams of light that could creep through the dense tree line bounced off of Kotohime.
Alice blinked away the daze, her reservations lifting, "Beautiful name. I wonder if she has any relation to Kaguya" she mused before speaking up, "I am glad you did find your way here unharmed".
The response furthered Kotohime's smile, "Likewise. Your talents are spoken of throughout the village, Alice. I was hoping to discuss the creation of some dolls to aid in teaching the children about safety".
"A wonderful idea" Alice beamed, "Please, do come in. We can discuss it over some tea, if that would be okay?".
The blonde opened the gate fully and motioned with her hand for Kotohime to enter which the woman obliged.
"Thank you very much, I hope I am not intruding".
Kotohime passed by, the lilting scent of her fragrance lingering as she paused in front of her for an answer.
They were close enough that the redhead had to look up into Alice's eyes, entranced by them.
"Not at all. I look forward to working with you, Kotohime".
A strange and intriguing accent, Kotohime was pleasantly surprised.
"The sentiments are mutual".
While the project itself was something the duo were looking forward to cooperating on, the subtle attraction between them was certainly something worth focusing on.
Alice led the way as Kotohime complimented Hourai, marveling at Alice's skills with such earnestness that had the magician enthralled.
She had a feeling she would be seeing more of this elusive woman and the idea of it settled quite well for Alice.
The following month would see to the interaction between them increasing, not necessarily due to work related matters.
Alice had provided her services to Kotohime, often accompanying her to the village and school, the latter on Keine's instance.
As Alice was no strange there because of her puppet shows, the informative yet entertaining performances by herself and Kotohime were well received.
A round of applause and joyous cheers from the children rippled around as the two took a bow, their eyes meeting when they stood back up and looked at each other.
The sense of camaraderie they felt for each other had morphed into something more, beyond the barriers of merely friendship. Not that it would have taken the most proficient minds to deduce given the way they were with each other.
Aya had already reported on 'the joining of two elusive princesses'.
It was Keine who finally pointed it out vocally as Kotohime and Alice were in the midst of packing up. She wasn't one to pry, but this was too much of an opportunity to pass up.
Definitely not Kaguya's influence, or so she liked to tell herself albeit with uncertainty.
She folded her arms across her chest, eyes drifting from the two, "It is true, isn't it? You two are seeing each other".
Alice almost choked on the water she was drinking as Kotohime rushed to pat her on the back.
The redhead gave Keine a curious gaze, "What makes you say that?".
Keine motioned to the entire scene, "This moment here enough was telling".
"Really? I am certain that I was just ensuring the safety of Alice's wellbeing".
The blonde in question had managed to silence the cough wanting to escape, "Such specious speculations are unlike you, Keine" she commented.
"They are not specious if they are true" Keine smirked before a more gentle smile formed, "I think it would be wonderful news, if it was the case" she said, "You both seem happier".
Alice glanced at Kotohime, her chest welling with aforementioned happiness as Kotohime's hands were still on her arm and back.
Maybe it was fruitless to deny it, not when she thought back to their first encounter, that one invitation spiralling into something more.
"Alice?".
Kotohime's melodious calling of her name reiterated Keine's sentiments.
"Well, to hide it now would be in vain" she spoke up and placed her hand over Kotohime's, "Keine isn't wrong".
Keine chuckled at Kotohime's mild surprise before a gentle smile formed when she faced Alice properly.
The dollmaker was taller than her significantly with Kotohime having to look up which was quite the humourous sight for any onlooker.
"So, is this another invitation, or a date, as they call it?" Kotohime enquired, "One completely unrelated to what we have been working on?".
"Yes, a date" Alice confirmed, not bothering to tiptoe around this attraction anymore, "What do you think, Kotohime?".
Kotohime lowered her hands and held Alice's, watching their fingers lace before her eyes went up to the blonde.
"I would love to go on a date with you".
"Wait a second, haven't they already been dating for the last month?".
The new voice, belonging to Aya, made the two women look in their directions.
"Ah, their naivety is charming" Kaguya commented, hanging off of Keine's shoulder, "It reminds me of your first attempts to court me, Keine".
"Kaguya..".
While Alice and Kotohime were tempted in offering their own scathing remarks at their new guests, the mood in which they were embroiled in diminished it.
Also, Keine was more than capable of handling Kaguya at least.
Besides, the slight nudge was needed in this case.
Chapter 2: [G] Yorihime and Reimu - Moonlit Reverie
Summary:
Reimu and Yorihime share a moment of silent recollection..
Chapter Text
The Hakurei Shrine was as exuberant as ever as another moon viewing festival was in the midst.
With the autumn moon expanded in the sky, its radiant beauty highlighted the entirety of Gensokyo.
Reimu found herself entranced by the sight whilst seated on the roof of the shrine.
It felt nostalgic.
The reason for that had joined soon, elegantly flying up before taking a seat next to Reimu.
Her red eyes glanced at Yorihime from her peripheral vision as the lunarian placed two cups filled with sake in front of them. She wasn't expecting her to speak, at least not yet.
Reimu had learned over the years that Yorihime wasn't one to waste words, taciturn in her nature which was a contrast to her sister.
Perhaps that was why she found the lunarian's presence so comforting.
It was as if having her in the vicinity was enough, their arms pressed together to cumulate and offer that spark of something which needn't be conveyed with words.
How long had it been since that time?
Where Reimu's journey to the moon had led her to encountering more lunarians, particularly the few directly affiliated with those of Eientei?
Every passing autumn was a reminder.
Reimu collected the drink Yorihime had brought her as she cradled the dish in her hands. The textured fragrance was an immediate giveaway that this was sake from the moon, something which had become frequent given how often the princesses visited.
Reimu felt spoilt by being able to indulge in something so luxurious as frequently as she did now.
She sipped it, could feel Yorihime's eyes on her before the woman glanced ahead as the preparations for the fireworks were complete.
Reimu's lips quirked up at the corners as the warmth from the sake and Yorihime's asseverated presence lulled her. Her head moved to the side to rest on Yorihime's shoulder, an area that was of familiarity for her now.
As was the sensation of Yorihime's arm wound behind her back to rest on her waist. The princess's fingers were flat against her exposed skin, adding some heat to it which Reimu was grateful for. As subtle as the hold and touch was, it spoke volumes of how Yorihime was trying to initiate more than she was used to.
So the brunette snuggled up to her further, her forehead near Yorihime's jaw.
Reimu felt the smile.
The colourful explosions commenced as the their eyes took in the revelling sights.
For two reticent beings, this season held a special place in their hearts.
Reliving the past was a given, though looking to the future was something neither refrained from.
As each autumn filtered by, a season which held a treasured fragment in their hearts, the two would go on to cement each and every one.
Starting with the way Yorihime made it a point to visit Gensokyo, particularly during the commencement of the season. She found her quite a spectacle to see Shizuha kicking at the trees, the actions scattering the leaves and Reimu was well aware of this.
So when the party had reached some sort of lull with bodies sprawled around and the murmurs of conversation still ongoing, reimu snuck the lunarian princess away.
They wouldn't need to travel far, just to the lower slopes of where the shrine was as Reimu knew Shizuha would be there whilst she carried out her tasks of easing Gensokyo into autumn.
Yorihime had Reimu's hand in her own as their boots ruffled through the foliage, the lanterns on the sides of the path providing enough illumination, along with the moon. Reimu chanced an askew look at the taller woman, taking in the rescued wonder over her features.
The Lunar Capital, as beautiful as it was, was lacking in these aspects.
Of the mesmeric transition between seasons, of life and death, of cycles.
So for Yorihime to be able to experience it, to feel the essence of earth, to see the changes in process was something Reimu tried to include, as subtly as possible.
Not that the princess wasn't aware of her counterpart's endearing gesture.
They remained stood together, pressed close as they could view Shizuha in the distance of the Forest of Magic, delivering kick after kick to the trees.
Reimu couldn't help but to grin, more so as Yorihime managed to refrain a laugh of her own as she commented on how fascinating it was to see this. She squeezed the woman's hand, agreeing that even she couldn't comprehend the process despite having had seen it for years.
It was majestic in its own rugged way, watching the tremors of the branches and then the leaves scattering away, some to the ground, others with wind.
Yorihime remarked that it was beautiful, though when Reimu returned her gaze to the woman, she realised that Yorihime was looking at her.
Given the blanket of darkness, the priestess hoped that the rubicund hue on her cheeks was concealed as she agreed, trying to divert the attention to the trees.
Amused, Yorihime took it a step forward as Kaguya's advice relayed in her mind.
You have got to be direct with, Reimu, trust me on this.
Taking Kaguya's advice may have been a risk but the woman was knowledgeable on the workings of the heart.
Sometimes.
So Yorihime breathed in, unable to hold back as she leaned down and kissed the priestess.
Reimu almost faltered, angling her head up to meet the lunarian's kiss, soaking in the sheer softness of Yorihime's lips.
A hand caressed her face as she reached for Yorihime's shoulder.
The kiss sauntered on, delicate and experimental, curious and desired.
It was more than anything either had imagined as they drew back, both chuckling at the suddenness of it and returned to watching Shizuha.
An exchange of words wasn't required as that one gesture alone had expressed the thoughts of their emotions.
They remained there, hand in hand, just watching the turn of a season to one so pivotal to them both.
Chapter 3: [T] Byakuren and Shinki - Anamnesis
Summary:
Byakuren's reflection into the past stirs some unsavoury memories..
Chapter Text
Makai had altered vastly since the last time Byakuren was here.
The land was far more active, denizens of all forms walking around and going about their day to day affairs.
One thing which had remained consisted was the crimson sky above.
It lit up the skyline in an enthralling manner, be it during the morning or evening.
Byakuren was perched on the balcony of Shinki's quarters, watching the scene below with a fond smile on her lips.
She wrapped her arms around herself, the material of Shinki's robe brushing against her fingertips.
It felt surreal to be back here and under much pleasant circumstances. The scale of change which had occurred since her imprisonment to now still stupefied the priestess. She couldn't help but to allow her thoughts to deviate to the past, to the traumatic events and how a demon goddess had been her light throughout it, her saviour.
Rather than taking advantage of Byakuren's vulnerabilities, Shinki was sympathetic of her plight.
Rather than turning her away for her actions which subjected her to the odium from both humans and youkai, Shinki welcomed her.
Rather than taking advantage and using Byakuren for her own means, Shinki helped her grow.
Byakuren's hazel eyes roamed over the location as the myriad of emotions flooded her soul when thinking back to just how much the goddess did for her. It planted an unabating thought in her mind in regards to their relationship, a gnawing sensation in her chest coming to light.
Before Byakuren could deliberate on it further, she felt arms wind around her waist and a warm body curl on her own. Lips found their way to her cheek as the familiar scent of the woman she had fallen in love with a thousand years ago simmered over her.
It aided in attenuating the discontent she was feeling, at least for now.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you?".
Shinki pressed against Byakuren tighter as the priestess's arms rested above her own, "Not at all. However, I did feel you missing. Is there something on your mind, Byakuren?" she enquired, "If there is something you need to make your stay here comfortable, all you have to do is ask".
Touched by Shinki's continuous hospitality, Byakuren moved her cheek close to her lover's while bringing a hand up to cup Shinki's other cheek. She closed her eyes, soaked in the serenity the demon goddess offered without even trying.
All you have to do is ask.
The tender statement lingered, evoking the question she had in her mind before.
Byakuren turned in Shinki's arms, bright blue eyes looking at her, tinged with solicitude.
Her hands went into the white locks which where let down, feeling the zibeline texture as each strand fell between her fingers. Satisfied, she then left her palms on the side of the other woman's head, the hold gentle, as if ensuring she would remain near.
Byakuren needed to know or else her trepidation and guilt wouldn't settle.
"You have always been there for me. Have I..am I doing enough for you? I can't just take in this relationship. You have given me so much, be it shelter, love and kindness. I feel as if I can't repay you and in turn, is has made me ponder as to if my behaviour has been oleaginous and self serving".
Her words whispered off, tone notably tremulous.
Shinki simply smiled and ran a hand up Byakuren's spine as her other arm remained curled around her lover's hips.
For Byakuren to be having such doubts was endearing in its own way but Shinki wanted to clear this enquiry up once and for all.
"Byakuren" she started after kissing the woman on the lips, "Relationships are not about repayment. What I do for you is simply because I want to do it, because you are so important to me. There is no catch, do you understand?".
The priestess paused before nodding, her hand moving across to caress Shinki's full lips, slightly reddened from their previous activities.
"As for what you have done for me, well, where do I begin. The moment I saw you, the moment you arrived in Makai, you changed everything for me. You, made me feel love for something other than my creations. It was you who has provided me with something unknown, something so out of the expected that I couldn't help but to open my eyes. To allow you in. You have brought me joy, Byakuren. The mere thought of you elicits such a feeling of a propinquity I hadn't experienced before. In hindsight, meeting you had opened up the possibilities for me love humans, to love Alice".
Byakuren blinked slowly, tears threatening to spill as her palms rested on either side of Shinki's neck.
The earnest words matched the open expression from the demon goddess.
Shinki was baring it all for her.
A being as powerful and revered as Shinki was openly devoting herself to a youkai.
Byakuren was rendered to bliss, her doubts being eroded away with each kiss.
"I love you, Byakuren".
A kiss to her top lip.
"And I will reiterate that for as long as I exist".
A kiss to her lower lip.
"So please do not disregard just how much you have given me and continue to do so".
The hold Byakuren had on Shinki increased as her eyes became hazy under the spell casted on her, though she knew such a thing wouldn't be required.
Her feelings for Shinki were as natural as could be, no sense of anything mendacious prevalent.
She reached up on her toes, "I love you so much. I just needed to make sure I am enough for you. You could have any-".
"Yet I only want you".
The final seal, the closing statement needed for Byakuren to understand just how deep Shinki's feelings ran for her, raw in its entirety.
Byakuren connected their lips again, impassioned and desirous which Shinki was thrilled to reciprocate as she moved them to the seating area and laid the priestess down.
Her hands slid down Byakuren's body, separating the robe so that she could touch the woman's skin as they parted their kiss and gazed at each other, no guards and no hesitation.
Byakuren smiled, her cheeks flushed and hands on her lover's shoulders after dragging down Shinki's robe, "You have me, Shinki. I am yours".
"Then that is all that matters. I understand the notion of doubts and how insistent they can be. But I will reassure you of how nothing has changed for me in terms of how I feel about you".
"It is the same for me" Byakuren sighed and curled her legs around the goddess, "That very first time I saw you, that feeling in my chest when you reached out to me, the second I fell in love with you. Nothing has changed".
Shinki's expression softened further, relieved that the woman had been able to reach some peace with her incertitude.
She kissed her again, loved her twice as more under the red skies of Makai.
The same sky they had fallen in love under.
Chapter 4: [G] Megumu and Chimata - Starry Sky
Summary:
Megumu and Chimata attempt to reconcile..
Chapter Text
High on the plateau of Youkai Mountain, Megumu was occupied in setting up her telescope.
It was a cloudless night, perfect to take in the atmospheric sky which appeared to be glimmering. The seasonal cold weather wasn’t a hindrance as her wings and cape aided in keeping out the glacial breeze which followed.
The shift between summer to autumn was one of a thing of beauty, for the land denizens and stargazers alike.
Given her status as a demiurge, the woman's responsibilities had subsumed most of her free time to wind down.
There was a constant stream of activity and she understood and accepted that this was her life the moment she sought out the position of chief tengu.
Still, the serene moments where it was just her and the night sky conjured a feeling of tranquillity.
She aligned her telescope with the constellation which should be visible, the coordinates being set. Looking through the eye piece, it would take one more adjustment to make sure the imagery was crisp before she could enjoy it at its full capacity.
Too engrossed in the task at hand, Megumu didn't realise she had company until the figure landed on the ground, her soft descent disturbing the rocks beneath her feet.
The tengu stood up and turned quickly, arms slightly raised.
"Relax, I'm not here for a fight".
"Really? That seems inconsistent with everything I know about you, Chimata".
The goddess shrugged, not bothering to take the bait as she looked out over the precipice of the mountain.
Silence lingered between them as Megumu went back to what she was doing but she could feel eyes on her.
It made the calibrating of her telescope a tad difficult, her heckles risen. Not only was the interruption a hindrance, but a sudden cloud had passed by, such was the tell tale signs of the winter.
The two were engaged in a dissonance of a dance given their failed partnership so Megumu didn't quite know where they stood with each other.
They were amicable, barely.
Having Chimata here did conjure up the more positive moments of the many hours they spent together on their venture. Considering the way things had ended, Megumu didn't think they'd be able to function at all following what had happened.
One thing was certain, Chimata was also struggling with the uncertainty of their relationship.
"Nice night, isn't it?" Chimata enquired, though she chided herself at how terrible that opening line was.
Megumu was close to finished with her set up, "It is. Up here, it's quieter. The celestial bodies seem closer too, like a surfeit of them".
"Are you hoping to see something in particular?".
"The River of Heaven is visible more so during the winter season".
Chimata glanced up just beyond where Megumu was stood.
Even with her eyes she could see the cluster of nebula dotted over the dark sky. The fixed stars parted the sky, like a belt.
"Is that referred to as the Milky Way?".
"Correct. The location of earth itself" Megumu replied whilst turning, "Would you like to have a look?".
The goddess went over to the set up, pleased to have obtained to invitation.
It was a positive step, portraying Megumu's own objectives to mend grudges, in spite of how tentative. Taking the first step in doing so was always a hurdle so for Chimata to overcome it and seek her out was admirable. If they could reach some middle ground, some semblance of stability, Megumu would meet the woman halfway.
The two looked at each other before Megumu cleared her throat and motioned to the eye piece, "Here".
"Thank you".
Chimata was about to look into it until a glaring problem stared back her.
Megumu concealed her grin, "Sorry, let me get that for you".
"You don’t have to sound so smug".
"No intents to do so at all".
Megumu's grin didn't fade as she adjusted the tripod so that she could lower it to Chimata's height. The indignation coming from the goddess was a welcoming sight, embarrassment dusting over her cheeks.
"There you go".
Chimata shuffled forward again as she looked through the lense, welcomed with a breath-taking sight.
"Incredible.." she mused, unable to look away, "All of those stars".
"It certainly does put things into perspective, doesn't it?".
Chimata agreed, capturing the slightly distant tone in the tengu's voice.
Despite the duplicitous nature of Megumu's actions, she survived because of her.
Though, the goddess was privy of the fact that there was a certain sly fox doing more of the damage, Megumu’s right hand herself.
Either way, Megumu's scheme had allowed her to continue her existence, to witness the stars rather than fade away into nothingness.
The definition of perspective hammered home when the feeling of her almost demise lingered.
Perhaps it was time to resume the dialogue to healing the bond between them. This wasn’t the time for arrogance and speculation to dictate her thoughts.
The humans she had encountered were direct, perhaps she could hear learn something from them in the art of communication.
Reimu's straightforward nature.
Sanae's contagious excitement.
Marisa's laidback mannerisms.
Sakuya's polite reservation.
"Can you tell me more about it, Megumu?".
Taken off guard by the request, the tengu fumbled with her words for a second, hands eager to grip onto something, "You want to know about it?".
"Of course, it sounds interesting. You used to do this whenever you could when we were working together, always looking up at the sky during the process. I always did wonder why that was" she explained, eyes glancing away before meeting the other woman's again, "If you have the time now, that is?".
Megumu chuckled, the enthusiasm accumulating, "Sure, I’d love to".
And so, long into the hours of the early morning did the two spend the seconds embroiled in discussion.
Of stars, of Gensokyo, of their lives.
Chimata was enthralled by Megumu’s descriptions of what she was seeing. It was no surprise as the great tengu had a flair for words so following her explanations were easy to follow.
While Megumu was pointing to another constellation, Chimata had only realised how cold it had gotten, especially with the higher altitude so a shudder passed through her. She assumed she had concealed it well enough but Megumu was sharp, her red eyes flickering her way just in time to see it.
She gave a wry smile, “I think I may have gotten carried away”.
“No, its been enjoyable. I suppose I forgot how cold it can get up here”.
Megumu gave her a once over before an idea sprung to mind.
Her hands went to her cape, undoing the gold strings binding it together before sliding it off of her shoulders, the garment designed in such away where it wouldn’t catch onto her wings.
The goddess watched on curiously when Megumu stepped around her, “Here, my cape is thicker than yours so it should help".
Chimata froze for a moment, feeling the other woman’s presence, close enough as she draped the cape over her shoulders. Megumu adjusted it accordingly, smoothing it over Chimata’s back. Considering their height difference, the article of clothing more or less concealed her body.
Megumu wasn’t incorrect as Chimata was immediately engulfed with a warmth she was missing, both due to the absence of the sun and the absence of Megumu’s company like how it used to be.
Placing a hand on Chimata’s shoulder, Megumu turned her around so that she could tie the strings together, crouched down slightly. She managed to keep composed as the close proximity was summoning a bout of memories she didn’t know what to do with anymore after their separation.
One factor she was aware of was that a part of her missed this, the same conclusion reaching for Chimata as Megumu stood back up, the two still close.
“How is this?”.
The goddess ran a hand down the lining of the cape, “Thank you, this helps a lot. You didn’t have to".
“I don’t mind”.
“What about you?”.
Megumu flapped her wings gently in demonstration before curling them around them both, “These work quite well" she grinned, “Or if nothing else, we can have a danmaku match if it comes to that to stay warm".
“You and your fights" Chimata sighed, though it was feigned while her eyes followed how Megumu’s wings encircled them.
Megumu chuckled, not denying her competitive tendencies as she led them back to the telescope, still remaining stood behind Chimata.
She pointed up at a particular quadrant of the sky.
“A shooting star".
The goddess had just caught sight of it, awe overtaking her features, embroiled in the phenomena while the comforting silence took over. With Megumu’s hands still on her shoulders, Chimata found herself leaning back, out of habit if anything and it didn’t seem like the tengu minded.
She hadn’t expected such a development when coming to see Megumu and was almost reluctant to do so but the draw to the capable woman was unable to be settled. Her hands tugged the cape shut, the additional warmth from Megumu’s wings and body dispersing any of the earlier cold she had felt.
Megumu glanced down to the top of Chimata’s head, a small smirk playing on her lips.
She too, couldn’t deny the pleasure of being able to enjoy moments like this with the goddess again.
As tentative as it was, it was promising.
Besides, the two had a feeling they would be seeing more of each other since the debacle with the ability cards hadn’t been fully concluded just yet.
Chapter 5: [T] Misumaru and Sannyo - Sudden End
Summary:
Misumaru finds herself deliberating on Gensokyo's demise..
Chapter Text
What is left of Gensokyo is in a ruinous state.
It was only a matter of before the barrier fell but Misumaru hadn't expected it to be like this.
Youkai turning on youkai.
She hurriedly flew up Youkai Mountain, eyes trailing over the many deceased tengu along the path.
The barrier was close to collapsing and those that could leave were encouraged to do so.
She had accounted for everyone who could escape to the temporary senkai constructed by the sages, well, those whom were still alive anyway.
There was several missing.
The entrance to the cluster of buildings on the plateau came into her vicinity and she quickly touched down, racing to the first one, the den which was the last used from the looks of it. To the goddess's consternation, it was locked as she attempted to slide it open.
She hastily summoned a yin yang orb and allowed it to barrel into the door, the wooden surface splintering in an instant.
Thick grey smoke billowed out but she ran through it, only to be met by the silence of the destroyed gambling den.
"Is anyone there?".
No response, her red eyes skimming the vicinity as she went further in.
She had to be here.
Misumaru was convinced that Sannyo hadn't absconded yet.
Whether the woman was alive or not she didn't know and the sight of blood on the floor made Misumaru's heart pound. She hovered into the air, floating carefully follow the trail, the crimson track becoming thicker and thicker.
Now the scent of blood couldn't be ignored, the copper tinge filling the blonde's mouth and nostrils.
Misumaru rounded a half broken table to the source and gasped.
"Sannyo!".
The youkai seemed unresponsive as she smoked her dragon pipe, long drags and longer exhales. Misumaru understood why when she noticed what was on Sannyo's lap.
Or rather, who.
"Mike..".
Misumaru crouched down in front of Sannyo, holding her wrist so that she couldn't smoke anymore.
The bakeneko was dead.
Dried tears could be seen on Sannyo's face as her wrist shook when she realised someone was there with her.
"I.." her voice croaked, lips bleeding, "I couldn't save her".
Misumaru looked on sympathetically as she took the smoking pipe and tucked it in her wrap around her waist, "You tried, Sannyo, that's all you could have done. We have to leave".
"I can't".
The goddess held her face with her other hand, moved it up so that she could look at the youkai.
Sannyo blinked as more tears streamed, "I can't leave. Everyone is dead, Misumaru. They wanted shelter here and I still couldn't save them from each other".
Misumaru thinks back to all the bodies outside the door.
Panic, pure panic had driven them out, even those whom had been injured.
Nowhere was safe.
"Listen to me" the woman said softly, face closer to Sannyo's, "There is nothing you could have done. The fact that I have found you alive is miraculous itself. I won't be losing you too".
Sannyo had inhaled in too much of her own smoke, had intoxicated her brain to drown out the screams, the blood curdling cries.
The hand on her face brought her back, as did the eyes watching her.
"You should leave too, they're gonna go after you and I don't wanna see you hurt".
"They cannot hurt me" Misumaru reassured, a soft smile, "But they can hurt you so, we need to leave. Once we're safe, once we talk to Yukari and find out what happened, we will come back and give Mike the burial she deserves. And the same for everyone".
Sannyo peered down to see Mike's now peaceful face, bloodied yet restful.
She wept silently into the goddess's palm, indecisive.
"But I will not be burying you, Sannyo. So please, come with me now".
The earnest tone wedged in deeper as the youkai took in a breath, trembled.
She knew Misumaru made sense, she had to leave or else this would all have been in vain.
Nodding slowly, Misumaru helped Sannyo in placing Mike's body down, concealing it that so nothing could get to her before the goddess picked Sannyo up.
She was too injured to walk, legs broken and dangling down.
The bedlam outside continued to augment as Misumaru hurried to escape the den. She could feel the entirety of the mountain shudder under her feet as she carefully guided them out of the building.
However, her attempts would be futile.
Just as she was about to each the door, a flash of light rang through the windows, indicating a beam of some kind had be fired at the den.
Her eyes widened, unable to think, to flee.
Whichever way she ran, she would be encompassed by whatever had been shot at them.
There was no way out.
To escape now would be clinging onto the false hope of this conundrum reaching a cessation.
So all Misumaru did was hold Sannyo to her chest as the exterior of the den was pierced through, obliterated by the blinding light.
She would survive but, Sannyo wouldn’t.
A thought she couldn't stomach as she enclosed Sannyo close to her.
As soon as the light hit her face, the goddess braced for impact, a collision which never occurred.
Misumaru jolted up, eyes running around frantically as she attempted to figure out where she was, the darkness of the interior of the location almost suffocating had it not have been from the wisps of moonlight streaming into the windows.
Recognition dawned her, noticing habitual objects around the room.
This was Sannyo's bedroom.
Her chest ached as her hands went to the side, looking for a familiar shape and to her relief, Sannyo was there. She turned slowly, the need to see the woman's face prevalent.
Misumaru saw the rise and fall of Sannyo’s chest, watching for a few minutes before brushing her let down hair away from her cheek. Sannyo stirred for a moment before reaching out of Misumaru's hand and pressed it to her chest, murmuring something which made the goddess watch on with such fondness.
To feel her there, alive and well felt surreal after that nightmare.
Misumaru ruminated on what and why she had such a dream.
She was well aware of the schematics of Gensokyo and to date, the land should be stable for the foreseeable future.
Only one possibility came to mind and she concealed a shudder at the thought as she lay back down and moved Sannyo closer to her.
A premonition of Gensokyo’s fate?
Chapter 6: [T] Reimu and Alice - Keeping Up Identities
Summary:
Reimu's curiosity gets the better of her..
Chapter Text
Alice had gone to freshen up due to the overflowing capacity of the shrine. The much needed abatement was necessary as the stifling atmosphere was getting to her head, as was the few sips of wine she had consumed just to get Remilia off of her case.
Even though night had fallen and the crowd had dispersed, she could tell that the usual suspects were still around.
She had limited her alcohol intake wisely so she knew the heat she felt was apposite to that.
After splashing her face with cold water and drying up, she left the bathroom, only to almost walk right into Reimu.
The brunette grabbed her by the arms to steady her, "Careful".
"Reimu, you were the one who appeared out of nowhere".
"Oh, I guess so".
Alice found the reaction unusual, not to mention the way Reimu was staring at her was so intense, "Are you okay? Did you drink too much?".
Reimu denied it as she hadn't and was cognizant enough of her actions.
Still, the magician could certainly smell it given the distance between them.
"Why are you looking at me so intently?”.
"I'm checking something" Reimu answered, as if that would provide enough information to offer an educe.
With that, Reimu took a step forward, turning her gaze and hand to Alice's ear.
The blonde nearly leapt through the ceiling, "Reimu!?”
"Hold still".
"What are you..".
Alice didn't know where to place her hands so they remained stretched out at her side while Reimu moved her hands into her hair, the top to be precise. Her fingers buried into the blonde strands, cautious to not disturb Alice's hair too much whilst avoiding her headband. She could feel the tips of Reimu's nails brush with her scalp which almost elicited a sound Alice was desperately attempting to keep buried in her chest.
It was as if Reimu was searching for something and after she was satisfied, she pulled her hands back and circled Alice, gaze punctilious whilst she hummed.
"Reimu?".
"I'm not done".
Alice considered behaving in a contumacious manner but something about Reimu's tone made her reconsider.
The blonde stiffened, feeling Reimu's hands on her back, tracing her fingertips over her shoulder blades. Different pressures were applied, like Reimu was trying to summon something, her thumbs curving down Alice's spine before grazing back up to beneath where her hair stopped.
She heard Reimu whisper, "Nothing here. Didn't Shinki have wings?".
"Hey, what are you talking about? Why are you talking about my mother's wings?".
The hands remained on her back, digits pressing in before travelling down Alice's spine once more.
Every nerve in the blonde's body was alight, her mind being pulled in numerous directions and knees feeling like they were going to disintegrate. She clenched her palms in an effort to remain standing but Reimu was not making that a simple feat.
It was troublesome enough she thought of Reimu often, her dreams overtaking the desires of her conscious desires about the woman and now, it was occurring in reality.
She was flustered, confused and aroused, a dangerous combination.
So her next move took the priestess by surprise when she whirled her around and pushed Reimu to the wall, her hands on her shoulders.
Reimu had gotten taller than her so she had to look up into hazy red eyes watching her.
"What are you after?" Alice enquired again, her soft voice decreasing in octaves.
Reimu merely exhaled and brought her arms behind Alice's neck, her teeth bared.
She still didn't offer an explanation before leaning in to kiss Alice.
The magician gasped, eyes widening as the lips against hers moved rapidly at first before slowing to a languid pace. Reimu was tasting her lips, feeling her close and the warmth she emitted.
Alice pulled back to breath, "Reimu".
Said woman swallowed roughly and leaned down to kiss Alice again, her fingers gripping Alice's capelet till it was bunched up in her fists. She moved further against the blonde, moulding their forms close, essentially pinning Alice to her own body.
Alice had no idea what the brunette was thinking, all she knew was how badly she desired this. Her grip on Reimu's top increased, not giving her the chance to abscond if she wanted to so Reimu used her tongue to part Alice's lips, sliding in. She couldn't muffle her moan, resorting to pressing against Reimu harder, moving a thigh between her thighs.
Her mind was in overdrive, being pushed further when she felt Reimu's tongue glide over her teeth.
It was slow, trailing each point and flicking down.
It was enough to make Alice lose control and pull back.
They stared at each other for a moment until Alice grabbed Reimu by the wrist and took her to the first vacant room she could find.
Reimu had also forgotten her objective, too immersed in the striking doll maker.
It wasn't until they were laying side by side after sex that she recalled what had commenced this bout of passion.
She had Alice's hand in hers, kissing the tips of her digits and running her thumb over the nails. Alice just watched on as she caught her breath, her legs locked around Reimu's waist beneath the sheets. Content with her hand, Reimu's attention turned to the blonde's mouth, her thumb gently lowering Alice's top lip to reveal her teeth.
At least there was some sharpness notable on the canines but not exactly what Reimu was used to seeing.
"Hm".
"What is it?".
"They were right, you're not a youkai like youkai at all".
Alice's confusion was prevalent before she thought back to what Reimu was doing earlier, checking.
"Is that what you were doing?" she replied, incredulity and amusement present, "All you had to do was ask".
The grin on the princess's lips irritated Reimu as she blushed, her pugnacious nature rearing when she pushed Alice onto her back and straddled her waist whilst pinning her wrists down.
"You're still as annoying as one though".
"Perhaps. In fact, I would say you are more youkai like than I am" Alice smirked as Reimu bent forward, "You certainly appear as one now".
"Got a problem with it, Alice?".
Alice shook her head and kissed Reimu again as her wrists were released so her palms ran over Reimu's back, stroking over the skin gingerly.
She certainly had no qualms with Reimu's existence in any form, so long as she existed with her.
Chapter 7: [T] Matenshi and Yumeko - Doll Judgement
Summary:
Yumeko deals with the consequences of betraying her creator for another..
Chapter Text
The scene within Pandæmonium was one of utter chaos.
Once pristine and regal, the foundations of the fortress was now rundown and decimated to the point of almost complete ruin.
Shinki's wrath could be felt across Makai.
Her frigid eyes took in the loathsome sight of her greatest creation fighting, but on the wrong side.
Yumeko wouldn't allow any of the other demons close to the wounded Matenshi as her broadsword impaled and slashed at anything or anyone heading to where the angel was laying. Her gloves were as red as her dress and eyes, long hair flailing with each swipe, working tirelessly to dwindle the number of her enemies.
The sheer emotion on Yumeko's face enraged Shinki further.
For Yumeko to exhibit such feelings for someone other than Shinki was unacceptable for the demon queen.
Shinki stood up from her throne while Yumeko had finished killing the last demon before turning and running to Matenshi.
Noroiko and Konngara had the angel sat upright as the swordswoman yelled across to Yumeko, "We must leave now, Yumeko!".
Yumeko crouched down, her swords to her side as she looked at the wound on Matenshi's chest, the purple of her dress almost black now due to the blood. She cupped the woman's jaw gently, coaxing Matenshi to open her eyes as she addressed Konngara.
"You all need to leave. Lady Shinki..isn't quite finished".
"Wait, we are not leaving without you" Noroiko insisted.
Matenshi exhaled harshly as she looked at Yumeko, "They are right.." she managed, tone shaky as her fingers gripped the demon's shoulders, "You are coming with us and don't say otherwise".
"Unfortunately, I can't" Yumeko smiled, small and solemn, "If I can buy some time to allow you all to escape, then it is the last thing I can do for you. I..apologise for what has happened. I knew what was going to occur and yet-".
Matenshi pulled her in closer with what strength she had, her hands on Yumeko's face, "Don't apologise. You did nothing wrong, do you understand? Your mistress is responsible for all of this" she said, wincing as breathing became onerous, "It isn't your fault that she has separation issues. So, come with us and leave Makai. Please, Yumeko".
Tears flowed from both the demon and angel.
"I'm sorry" Yumeko said, tone dejected, "I hope you will find it in yourself to forgive me. Just know that, being with you, is something I will never regret".
Yumeko closed the distance between them as she felt Shinki's energy exacerbate with each second.
She didn't have anymore time.
So she kissed Matenshi, soft yet firmly, just once more.
"Yumeko, don't do this".
The demon signalled to Konngara and Noroiko to grab Matenshi after she released her.
They had to escape while they had the chance.
"Goodbye, Matenshi".
Matenshi tried to break through the hold but failed due to her exhaustion, helplessly watching Yumeko collect her swords and give her one last smile.
"No! Don't do this!".
"I'm sorry, I cannot let her harm you so, please, run. Now!".
Konngara and Noroiko paused for a second to let the two share one final look, pained and memorable before they picked Matenshi up and flew away.
Matenshi's screams would register in Yumeko's mind, till death and after.
She turned to face her maker whom wore a look she was familiar with, having had been by Shinki's side since the first day.
It only made sense that the one who was going to end her life was the one who gave her it.
So she gripped her swords and charged at Shinki, a morose expression on her face.
Shinki raised her staff, a glimmering ball of red and black forming. A flash of compunction was notable before it was subsumed within disgust.
"Forgive me, Lady Shinki".
The last words Yumeko would speak as she met her demise to protect the one she loved.
Chapter Text
The nights were the most tranquil in Gensokyo during the war.
Given the depletion of Yukari’s energy, the land which was once an illusion could no longer remain as such, now completely exposed to the multifarious threats from anything and everything.
It was under the cover of the dark that stealth attacks were carried out, including ambushes being executed from both sides.
Those who wished to save Gensokyo, and those who wished to see it collapse, the balance between the two in a fragile state of fluctuation.
An eerie atmosphere floated over the entirety of the land due to its brief moments of silence compared to the deafening sounds which rippled through the place during the day.
With the cloak of darkness, bombs exploding became obsolete, gunfire was minimum, magic was subtle.
The night was all about stealth.
A slick slash of a sword gutting somebody.
A swift and silent bullet to the head.
A gentle snap of a neck.
The scale of the blood and bodies spilt never stopped, it only quietened, the acclivity of the body count ongoing as the ancillary division took over.
Yukari walked through the corridors of Eientei as muffled sounds of individuals in dire pain punctuated the air. Room by room she'd check in to see if any additional resources were required and though she could mask her inner turmoil at seeing the distress the war was causing, it pained her to no extent.
She watched on a youkai whom was marred with several shrapnel piercings in her back, her body quivering and eyes firmly shut as each was pulled out.
Then there was a human in another room who'd lost her hand after engaging with the enemy, the shock colouring her face.
The room opposite hers held an injured Yatsuhashi, with Benben & Kagerou close by and the consternation on their features was so overwhelming.
Daiyousei and Wriggle were keeping an eye on Mystia who was snuck up on by some of the enemy youkai, her wings torched and body beaten.
The next place had a family in tears as they gathered around the bed of their mother.
What they couldn't see was Komachi waiting for her soul, a regretful expressing present.
She had ferried too many souls in the last few months, a circuitous and vicious cycle.
Yukari tore her eyes away and moved on as guilt continued to pile up even if she knew she couldn't do anything else right now. Until she recuperate her energy, the barriers which composed Gensokyo couldn’t be fully healed despite her efforts, along with Reimu’s.
Sanae was working her abilities as best as she could to help though the pressure but it was taking its toll on her too.
It went on and on.
The dead and injured increased drastically over the last couple of months with no cessation on the horizon.
"Yukari?".
The blonde was brought out of her thoughts by Kaguya who walked out of a room and closed the door behind her.
Even glancing at the princess’s eyes, Yukari knew it wasn't postive news.
"How is she?".
Kaguya stepped closer to the youkai, wondering how to word the update on Chen and the declivity of her condition . She knew honesty would be the way to go when it came to Yukari and it wasn't as if the woman couldn't feel Chen's waning energy.
"She is stable for the time being but, I do not know how long it will remain that way" she answered softly, "Ran is with her still, she needs to rest before she collapses too. Eirin has tried to persuade her in doing so but to no avail".
"For once, even my words are something she will not heed which is to be expected" Yukari said with a feigned annoyed shake of her head, "Thank you, Kaguya. I'll have a word with her too. Although, I suppose Eirin is in a similar situation”.
“Agreed. She should be finished operating about now. Are you heading to see her".
“Yes, we’ve received word from Toyohime that the Lunar Capital may be willing to loan their weaponry”.
Yukari chuckled at Kaguya’s surprised look, understanding it, “Well, I suppose the destruction of Gensokyo would not be in their favour” the princess commented, “I am pleased to hear so, however. I imagine Eirin will be too".
“Let’s hope so. Is there anything else I can provide you? The school has been restored with Kanako’s help and the kappa".
"Keine is thankful and so am I. As for myself, not at the moment, thank you. Other than seeing to Eirin” she smiled before a sombre look formed, “I know the words might sound void but Chen will pull through this".
"Of course she will, she is the shikigami of my shikigami, after all" Yukari managed to reply with a small laugh.
Kaguya could see the anguish in the violet eyes however and closed the space between them, wrapping her arms around the youkai to embrace her.
Ever since Gensokyo's civil war had been set in motion, Yukari had been incredibly transparent, effortless to decipher which was the complete opposite of how it use to be. But she knew the youkai's troubles dug even deeper than many could begin to comprehend, hence why the strain was piling up on her to a point she was becoming captious of herself.
"How many years have passed, decades, hundreds perhaps” the lunarian mused as Yukari reciprocated the hug, "The last foray into war should have been just that, the last. Unfortunately, regardless of the species, greed and unctuous ways of thinking will always play a role despite what you are trying to do for them”.
“At the heart of it, not all will be satisfied until they gain everything”.
Yukari's sacrifices for Gensokyo amounted to a price that could never be repaid, depleting her vital life form.
"Perhaps..things can be different now. Once this is all over, everything can go back to how it all once was. Though, that is too much wishful thinking on my part" Kaguya mused and hugged the blonde tighter, "Considering what has transpired and with those involved, it is really difficult to say, however, we must remain hopeful".
"Thank you. It is a goal we all now share against a common enemy so the outlook, as obscure as it seems, can be salvaged. Gensokyo can be saved".
Yukari mumbled it into the shorter woman's shoulder as she breathed in and moved her head back to look at Kaguya.
"I know it has been excessive recently, the fighting, the clashes and the uproar on both sides but it isn't your burden to take alone. We are here to support you".
"Hm, has the teaching with Keine enhanced your optimistic stance?".
The princess chuckled and gave the youkai's arm a playful squeeze before letting her go.
"It is necessary, I'll have you know" she replied, "I do mean it. This is a situation we are going to have to figure out together. Even now, so much does not make sense but the involvement of the entirety of this land will be a way to resolve it".
"You are correct, we will fix this" Yukari answered, hoping the conviction was detectable and she was going to continue speaking till she saw someone peek out of the other room.
It was Reisen in need of Kaguya’s assistance.
"I think you're required".
"Ah, that is Tewi's room".
"I will leave you be, do let me know if you need anything, Kaguya".
"Likewise, I shall see you soon. Please talk some sense into Eirin if you can" she said as she walked past and waved back at the youkai.
Yukari took a moment to rewire her thoughts as the hushed sounds became audible around her again.
With the advancement of the enemy's attacks, Yukari had to think of a way to either dismantle them forcefully or make them surrender which is where the Lunar Capital came in.
There were no other options expandable, she knew that both choices would have lingering consequences.
"They've left me with no alternative method of action" she sighed, "Truly, they have misplaced the stupidity of their actions by siding with those that want to harm Gensokyo and I will ensure they feel the brunt of their decision".
Enough was enough for Yukari.
It took a great deal for her to not allow the full capabilities of her abilities to tear through the enemy settlement, especially after what they did to Chen.
This was only due to the fact that she knew she had to remain rational about this in the event any severe consequences would follow.
With that, she sought out Eirin, gapping it to the woman’s office.
She was in the midst of taking off her white coat, gloves and apron to discard it in the hazard bin.
“Yukari" she greeted once she turned to the woman after going to wash her hands again.
The youkai was appalled at the enervated appearance, striding up to her with the intent of making her understand the severity of what she was doing to herself by neglecting her own wellbeing.
“When was the last time you slept?”.
Eirin attempted to calculate when that was, drawing a blank as the days and nights had blurred, her tasks an endless stream. It was as if a sepulchral cloud lingered over her, enveloping every fragment of her being.
She dismissed it when she realised she could not offer an answer that wouldn't infuriate the other woman, “Not important. Are you alright? Has something happened?”.
“Yes, there is a stubbornly insufferable doctor who refuses to rest. Not doing so could result in her killing her patients, though I am sure she is aware of this detail yet, still refuses to adhere to the advice she is being given”
“Subtle” Eirin managed as she walked around Yukari and to her desk, rummaging through the drawers before a hand slipped out of a gap and dragged her arm away while another slammed the drawer close.
The noise was jarring in the quietness of the office which in turn spoke volumes of Yukari's patience, or lack of.
Eirin sighed, could feel Yukari’s ire as she stopped her movements as a way of saying she would not disregard what Yukari was saying. She maneuvered herself so that she could sit on the chair as the hands released their grip which was acceptable enough for the youkai sage.
“We are running out of time".
“I understand that” Yukari answered and stepped to her, “However, running yourself to the ground is counterproductive, Eirin. You will be creating more hurdles for yourself if you continue the way you are doing now”.
“There is no choice. The number of deaths has exceeded the number of those we have managed to save. We are low on supplies and it is only a matter of time before they figure out how to reach Eientei. Do not even get me started on the mental turmoil everyone has suffered. We cannot luxuriate with what brief reprieve we scour”.
Yukari’s firm hand tactic faded as she observed her lover, the undeniable weariness present. Eirin was skilled enough to conceal it with others but she was willing to let her guard down for Yukari. She nodded and closed the distance between them by rounding Eirin’s chair. Removing the doctor’s hat, Yukari wrapped her arms around the woman and placed her chin on her shoulder, her hold being secure, reassuring.
"Do you think that I am not aware of all this?".
Eirin in turn gripped Yukari’s arms and exhaled, brushing her cheek against her lover’s and truly taking the moment to unplug from the manic situation which had befallen them.
“I was not implying as such, Yukari. All i am stating is that I have a responsibility, one which I agreed to the moment we decided to immerse our lives with the denizens of Gensokyo. These were your terms”.
“That may be so" Yukari said softly, “And I understand you have a role to perform, I am thankful for that, for managing to stabilise Chen despite the odds. I just wish for you to be more conscientious of your own wellbeing”.
“I cannot die, Yukari”.
“Really? Well, that is news to me".
Yukari felt the lunarian smile, a flicker of the action before she relinquished her hold on her and moved back around to sit on Eirin’s lap, her legs over one side of the doctor’s thighs. Eirin curled her arms around the blonde’s waist, getting a feel of where Yukari was in terms of regenerating.
And simply because she wanted, needed, to touch her.
After dealing with death all day, having Yukari there was rejuvenating.
Yukari’s hand was on her cheek, brushing her thumb lightly beneath her eyelid. Her eyes fluttered close as she felt lips on her own, tentative yet firm.
It was cathartic.
Like Yukari’s hands were caressing her brain from the inside, stimulating the neurons in order to cause a chain reaction within her.
Her hand slid up Yukari’s back, the other cupping the side of the blonde’s neck as the kiss deepened till Eirin parted her lips and allowed Yukari in. She hummed in contentment at the sensation, curling her tounge around Yukari’s. The youkai could feel her lover uncoil from the lassitude beneath her fingers which had landed on Eirin’s chest. Eirin’s heartbeat slowly thrummed, the pace increasing gradually when Yukari released her tongue and kissed over the doctor’s lips, wiping away the residual.
She moved back, just enough to look into Eirin’s eyes while the wisps of silver hair returned to place.
“That was quite the distraction”.
“It was necessary” Yukari chuckled, poking Eirin gently, “While it stands that you cannot die, you can exert yourself. I have seen you in such a state and the repercussions it entails”.
Eirin placed a hand over Yukari’s that was toying with the strings of her dress, holding it firmly whilst her other hand remained on the blonde’s shoulder.
“I apologise, Yukari. The necessity to undo the damage being inflicted has become forefront. There is no definitive end to this”.
“Well, I believe we have been offered a silver lining by your previous home. Admittedly, to accept it would be done so begrudgingly”.
“The Lunar Capital?”.
Yukari nodded as she began to divulge the plan, watching the range of expressions flutter over her lover's face.
There was apprehension, indignation, contemplation and then, confirmation.
Yukari held Eirin’s hands between them, “As I said, I don’t particularly want to involve them but if this solution shortens this mindless war, then..”.
“We accept”.
The news was certainly something to be jovial about as Eirin wrapped her arms around Yukari, tucking her up against her shoulder. They held onto each other as the distant sound of gunfire shattered the serenity of the night as another body fell to the ground.
It was unanimous to accept their support, history be damned.
The existence of Gensokyo was on the line and if it meant that Eirin and Yukari had to cooperate with their mutual enemy, then it had to be done.
If not, Gensokyo would fall.
