It was the middle of a sunday afternoon, and both were sitting by the riverbank, watching the water's gentle flow together. Lately, they haven't been able to meet as much as they wanted to. Between school, theater and personal life, their schedules had been packed despite only being teens. Kumon had even stopped attending his part-time to focus on his exams. Thus, they always cherished every moment they could spend with the other.
The thought made Kumon sigh, balancing himself to rest his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. Shifuto looked at him curiously, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
"What's up?" the boy asked.
"Hm? Oh." starts Kumon, "It's just that, I'm thinking about how we haven't been able to see each other much. And how it's probably gonna worsen the next weeks. It kinda makes me sad, y'know? I already miss you a lot."
The other smiled, looking again at the river below him. His eyes however betrayed a certain sadness.
"Mhm. S'certainly gonna be hard to be separated from each other like that." Shifuto agreed, hugging his partner tighter. Kumon felt at ease.
They stayed silent for a few minutes.
"But we ain't totally separated from each other, y'know?" the younger one followed.
Kumon, a confused look on his face, looked at his boyfriend, who grinned.
"You're always stayin' in my heart, obviously~" he winked.
Kumon couldn't help but laugh.
"That's so cheesy."
...Yet, he always knew how to cheer him up, didn't he?
"You're talking as if ya didn't like it!"
Kumon pouted at Shifuto, who stared back with mischief in his eyes.
"Have I ever told you how cute ya look when ya pout?"
Kumon sat up.
"Oh my god. Shifuto please spare me that talk."
Shifuto laughed, as the other looked away in an attempt to hide his red cheeks.
"But it's true!"
"It's embarrassing to hear!"
"Fiiinee~ Guess I'll stay silent then~"
Kumon relaxed a bit for a second. Before remembering who his boyfriend was.
He grabbed Kumon's face to shower him with kisses, to which he responded with an exasperated "ShiifuutoooOoOoooo", without even trying to fight back.
