Work Text:
Hunter sat in the chair as he listened to Darius speak, fidgeting with a piece of wood that chipped from the barely standing leg of the chair.
“...You’ll have to sign off a few paperworks with the head-bard auditions but I sent off some of the new recruitment papers to Steve so as to not overload you.” Darius explained, his voice cold and serious per usual.
Hunter paused.
“Thank you for that, Dadddddddd-” Hunter immediately realized his miswording “-rius.” He tried to save himself, but it was too late.
“What did you just call me?” Darius questioned.
Hunter flipped up the hood on his coat in embarrassment. “I.. I called you Darius.”
Darius let out a short chuckle. “I’m pretty sure I heard you call me dad?”
Hunter could almost feel his embarrassment wash over him like waves in the sea. “You heard incorrectly.”
“Whatever you say, little prince… or should I call you “son” now?”
“Please don’t-”
Darius smiled at Hunter’s reply, but swiftly continued on with the instructions. Hunter remained silent the rest of the conversation.
