Honey Brown Eyes

Summary:

Chaeryeong has always found Lia's eyes beautiful.

Work Text:

Red soaked white, as the cloth slipped down my blade. I looked at Mr. Carter’s eyes, once lightened like the stars, now dull. The wrinkles on the corners of his eyes, usually from a big smile, were now of utter horror. His face seemed stuck from the moment my blade rode his throat.

I looked at Lia as she opened the door.

“All clear.” she said

Her face was dripping with blood, not hers, never hers.

I let out a pained smile. Mr. Carter was good company. I felt a tug in my chest as I remembered him guffawing at my silly jokes.

I turned to look at Mr. Carter one last time, sighed and put my blade in its satchel.

I spun towards the door, only for it to be blocked by honey brown eyes. Her eyes looked nostalgic, a little sad, glistening with water. I felt a piercing sting on my chest, the left side.
Warmth gushed down my stomach, painting it crimson. It bled into my jeans, sticking the loose fabric to my thigh.

I looked at her eyes, her pathetic, undeserving pain trickled down her face. A whimper escaped her throat. Her eyes, the guilt welling in them took me back, back to that park, where her eyes first met mine, shining with the same guilt. I could only wish the guilt today was caused by a feat as innocent as the one in the park.

“I’m sorry!” the little girl's voice squeaked.

“It’s fine, no worries.” little me said as the girl held out her hand. I took it, got up and said through my smile “your eyes, they’re beautiful.’

It’s weird, really. I still find her eyes beautiful with her blade through my chest.

“I’m sorry.” the woman’s voice whispered.

“No.” fury spilled out of me “You don't get to say that.”

She slid her blade out, turned, and slammed the door shut.

Pain spread from my chest, to my neck, stomach, leg until it was everywhere.

A thud echoed as my knees met the dark oak wood.

Another thud as I lied fully on the floor.

I lied there as I thought of her eyes, her beautiful honey brown eyes as I closed mine, accepting my fate and drawing out one last ragged breath.
