Two Cloaked Figures enter the quiet secluded Village, one was clearly a young woman of about eighteen and the other was a young man about twenty their purpose being there was unknown but the young woman had a specific home she was heading towards, it was the only one that was some feet from the village, she and her companion arrived and she found a man in about his early fifties cutting some wood who noticed them." who are you? if it's money can't help ya". the girl clears her throat and speaks." no i am looking for the one they call The Blade Breaker, a Knight of great skill". the man stops and looks at her as if he knew that name, he sighs." haven't heard that name in years, sorry but that person is gone". the girl did not give up, she pulls out a small satchel of gold.

" if you can tell me where he is i will pay him well for his service".

" and you think that he will? you must be desperate but again can't help you".

her companion steps forward his hand glowing with a dark magic spell but she stops him." i expected such from the man himself Jeralt the Blade Breaker". the man sighs and looks to her clearly not happy being found out." so you knew already but like i said that man is gone, i am just a humble man the days of being a Knight are over, besides i am surprised that the Princess of Adrestia would want to hire a retired old man". the girl removed her hood revealing her face, she was indeed about eighteen years of age and had brown hair which she had in a intricate ponytail (Her Three Hopes time-skip hairstyle minus the crown), the young man next to her removed his hood as well." indeed i was, this is my advisor Hubert von Vestra". Jeralt looks thoughtful then speaks.

" so why are you here? shouldn't you be ruling a nation?".

Edelgard did not speak, she looks down anger clear in her features." i cannot go back....me and seven others escaped with some knights still loyal to me almost half the Imperial army that is". Jeralt hummed and sets down a piece of wood and cuts it in half with his axe, he lowers it and looks at them again." i remember now, said you were killed in a assassination attempt none of the Royal family survived not even the Emperor himself, and that Lord Regent Volkhardt Arundel took over". Edelgard closed her eyes calming herself and looks at him." Yes but it was my uncle and others who caused an insurrection and usurped the throne killing my father, my siblings and i managed to escape and take refuge in Faerghus but....they all died of illness, only one sibling's fate i do not know". she did not know what happened to her Eldest Sister Altena, was she alive and if so did she managed to escape she knew not.

Edelgard turns to the voice and found a woman about twenty one, she had teal hair and beautiful blue eyes that almost felt like they were pulling you in, she dressed in a way that left to one's imagination but not too much skin showed, she was beautiful Edelgard quickly looked away as the woman looks to her as Jeralt spoke." Princess this is Byleth my daughter, like me she is a mercenary part of my Mercenary group, Byleth this is the Adrestian Princess Edelgard von Hresvelg though i guess she is not a princess anymore". Byleth nods and walks past her, Edelgard sees Hubert glaring at the woman, it was clear to her Hubert did not trust this woman and they just met." kid seems she needs help though she never did tell me what". Edelgard mentally hit herself for forgetting, she holds up the bag of gold again." i want to hire you and your mercenaries to help me retake my home and save my people". Jeralt sighed but seemed not upset, he walks over and takes the satchel of gold." alright we will do it but...". he gives her the gold back, Edelgard gives him a shocked and confused look.

" you seem genuine kid and besides you remind me of someone i knew when i was a Knight".

Edelgard puts the satchel away." thank you, i apologize but i must return to my friends, we set up a camp in some old ruins near here and i am sure couple of them are getting worried". Jeralt chuckled looking to her." i know the place, how bout me and my kid tag-along, been some sightings of Bandits, and not just ordinary ones either, these bandits are the infamous Iron King Thieves led by a former knight named Kostas, he is very dangerous". Byleth nods and she walks into hers and Jeralt's home coming back out with a Sword and spear, she hands the spear to her father and straps the sword on her left." let's go".

Edelgard and Hubert left the Village of Remire, Jeralt and Byleth following, Jeralt told some of his men to watch the village while they were out and continued on their way following her and Hubert, they soon came upon some ruins and saw some imperial guards and kids around Edelgard's age as well as Hubert's age, Byleth looked around looking for any holes in the camp that a Assassin or thief could use and saw none but that would not stop such, Byleth looks and sees a young woman about twenty speaking with a young woman who was clearly of Brigid descent both smiling and laughing, nearby was a young man with spikish blue hair with a young man with greenish hair who was almost falling asleep, nearby them was a young girl with purple hair who looked to be quite frightened and Byleth could tell that she wanted to hide, next to her was another young man with light orangish hair who was boasting about his accomplishment well more like lying but still.

" Edie! you returned!".

" yes Dorothea, everyone this is Jeralt and his daughter Byleth they are the ones that will help us retake Enbarr and Adrestia, they lead a large mercenary group".

Dorothea the woman who was speaking to the Brigid native gives a smile." i see that Edie has quite the taste in women, Byleth right? i am Dorothea Arnault, this is Petra Macneary, you already met Hubie and our dear Edie, this is Bernadetta, that is Ferdinand the one boasting about fighting is Caspar and with him is Linhardt". Caspar who was grinning looks at her." i was not boasting! i want a fight! hey maybe you can fight me!". Byleth chuckled, Jeralt just smirked Edelgard sighed." enough". Jeralt gave a thoughtful hum then as he looked around." i have an idea, it is not safe here but i know a place where you will be safe and well cared for". " would you rather be caught unaware out here? you do not know this area like we do and also Garreg Mach will provide shelter, food and whatever is needed".

Hubert was ready to strike him with a Miasma spell but Edelgard stops him." he is right Hubert, we are at a huge disadvantage even if we took refuge in the Village we are unprepared, we are also unprepared for a large scale assault on Enbarr, we need resources we need more allies and the Knights of Seiros are our best option besides my family are on good terms with the Archbishop and Church if anyone can aid us it is them". Hubert dispells his magic and steps back but still glaring at them." fine but if they betray us then her blood is on your hands". Jeralt glares with a glare that even Hubert steps back with some fright." have you ever killed? have you ever felt the blood of your victim stain your hands? you kids do not know death until you seen it and it will stay with you forever, i killed many former allies and many enemies in my time". Hubert remained silent, Edelgard did not speak, Jeralt sighed he looks at them, he could see they were now frightened but that was reality.

" it is reality, if you are ever going to survive sometimes you must kill even when you don't want to, you do not have to like it but sometimes it must be done, we should get some rest i will inform the Mercenaries of our plans tomorrow come on Kid let's find a spot where we can rest".

the two left to find a area where they can sleep, Edelgard turns to Hubert and her friends." Lady Edelgard, i still should not trust them if i were you, for all we know they could be spies or assassins hired by your uncle, how can you so readily trust them when we know nothing of them", Edelgard gives him a cold stern look." cause i saw in his eyes pain, sadness and more, but i also saw truth if he wanted to kill us he would have done it when we found him but he didn't and neither did she the infamous Ashen Demon". Hubert was silent remaining that way as Edelgard continued." my father wanted all of Fodlan to be united and at peace, for Nobles and Commoners to be equals i also saw in Sir Jeralt's eyes a man who was tired a man who seen much and just wanted to rest". Hubert looked away ashamed.

" Hubert, all of you you do not have to like him or his daughter, but i ask that you show respect to trust them, and if they do turn out to be bad people i will take full responsibilty i will take the blame, for now it is best to rest so we be prepared for our journey to Garreg Mach Monastery Tomorrow".

the group nodded and returned to their sleeping areas in the Camp, Edelgard heads towards hers, Hubert goes to his tent near hers, Edelgard enters and sighs she removes her cloak and sets down her Axe as well, she lays on her bed and closed her eyes sleep taking her into a peaceful dream of a woman with blue hair and captivating Blue Eyes.

The Large Group finally arrived at Garreg Mach, Byleth remained silent and Jeralt as well Edelgard sense that coming here brought up sad memories, Edelgard knew what she had to do it was the only thing she could do, she told Hubert this when they had set up camp couple days ago not far from Garreg Mach, she knew that her friends likely will not like it but she had to if she was ever going to free her home and her people, they arrive as the gates open and they entered, standing before them was a woman in priestly like robes, this was Archbishop Rhea.

" Jeralt...it has been too long".

" Yeah sorry bout that....just being here brings back some memories".

Rhea smiled softly with sadness in her eyes." yes...would you like to go see her? i am sure she would like to see both of you". Jeralt nods and Byleth and him head towards a direction near the Cathedral in the distance, Edelgard felt something seeing the pained looks in their eyes including the Archbishop." Edelgard von Hresvelg it has been some time since i seen you as well, you have grown beautifully and before you say i know of your trouble, it is written over your companions' faces". Edelgard had met Rhea when she had been only five at the time, it was good to see her after so many years." i say the same to you Lady Rhea...i wish i came here on better terms, it was Sir Jeralt's idea feeling that i would be safer here and better prepared". Rhea nodded, she walks up and takes Edelgard's hands into her own.

Edelgard and her friends made their way to the cafeteria, she saw more students and some Knights of Seiros, her and her seven friends got food and sat down in a corner away from the rest of them, Edelgard slowly ate, Caspar as usually ate like no tomorrow, rest ate similar to her or caspar, She smiled this was what she wanted to fight for, a future where nobody would worry about war, a future where everyone could be equals, Edelgard sighed knowing that she had to fight to gain this future, Edelgard hears a commotion and sees a woman who she could swear looked familiar but could not put her finger on it, with her was a man she also recognized but it couldn't be him yet Edelgard could not shake the feeling.

the woman and older man left the cafeteria, Edelgard decided to speak with them later and continued eating soon after she began to make her way towards the Cathedral to speak with Rhea, she enters the building and sees a young woman about twenty by the altar praying, she walks up and stands next to the young woman who notices her." oh hello, are you praying to the Goddess as well?". Edelgard looks at her and nods." oh i am Mercedes von Martritz". Edelgard recognized that name." you must be Count Martritz's daughter, i am Edelgard von Hresvelg". Mercedes gives a warm smile and slightly bows.

She left Mercedes and came upon the Office of the Archbishop, Hubert was there waiting and Rhea too." please come in". the two enter Rhea's office and she stands in front of them." Lady Rhea, i am going to retake Adrestia, but i cannot do it as myself i am going to disguise myself but in a way nobody will recognize me". Rhea frowns but hums." i understand but you do realize that if you do this you may become enemy of the church, the Central Church will aid you but the Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern Churches may not be fond of such and oppose you". Edelgard took a deep breath, she nodded knowing that and it had to be so." i know but i have to do this...". " this is the Armor of your ancestor, Emperor Wilhelm Hrevelg the First Emperor of Adrestia, he wore this during the war of heroes, i can use magic to change your hair and eyes, this helmet is infused with magic when you wear it it will disguise your voice and also there is this".

she removed a large cloth revealing a Hero Relic." this is Aymr, only those who wield the Crest of Seiros can wield". Rhea stopped, she appeared in deep thought her eyes closed almost as if she was remembering something, Edelgard wanted to speak but let Rhea be alone, she eventually continued." this goes against all my predecessor built but rumors of war and darkness threaten even the Church, Edelgard von Hresvelg take up your ancestor's armor and Weapon and bring a bright future for Fodlan". Edelgard walks up and gently takes Aymr, she closes her eyes and then holds it up it glows sensing her crest, Edelgard lowers it and touches the armor." this day hence i will be known as the Flame Emperor". Edelgard heard a sound and found the same woman and man from before.

Edelgard now knew for sure it was who she thought it was." Altena....but how...". Altena her older sibling alive, right here before her which means that the man with her." And General Duessel....but how..". Duessel steps up and bows before her." when the insurrection occurred i tried to save as many as i could but i could only save Princess Altena i believed you and the rest were dead, it was only until i heard rumors of a young woman said to resemble you that i made my way here with Lady Altena". Altena walks up and hugs her sister, Edelgard hugs back wishing to never let go." i am sorry El...i should have protected you...". Edelgard pulls away and shakes her head." no it is not your fault, Altena what i am about to do will make me look like a Tyrant in the eyes of the Church i cannot tell anyone, not even my friends". Altena nodded, she understood.

" i understand El, i will keep this secret and i will help you in anyway i can".

Rhea was still there and silent, Duessel gets on one knee bowing." I Duessel of the Adrestian Empire Swear to fight and protect the Future Emperor with my life". Edelgard walks up before his bowed figure." hand me your sword Duessel". Duessel unsheathes his sword handing it to her, Edelgard then taps both his shoulders with the sword." i hereby name you once more General of Adrestia, rise Duessel my loyal General". Duessel rises and takes back his sword and sheathes it, Edelgard turns to Rhea." it is time...".

Byleth sighed, after visiting her mother's grave she spent the rest speaking with Edelgard's friends, she even met some students one named Leonie who apparently knew Byleth's father, afterwards Byleth was informed that a room was ready and she now laid in bed in her room, she sits up sleep escaping her Byleth gets up and throws on her cloak-coat and steps outside." could not sleep either". She looks to see her father sitting on the steps in front of her room." yeah...you couldn't either?". Jeralt shook his head, Byleth sits next to him looking up at the night sky." you know she use to always stay up and look at the stars...your mother that is". Byleth didn't respond, Jeralt sighed, he looks at her.

Byleth looks at her father." same determination in your eyes...like i am looking at a clone of her, sorry guess i haven't quite moved on". Byleth surprises him by resting her head on his shoulder." me too....could you tell me more about her". Jeralt smiles putting an arm around her." of course kid". Jeralt began to tell stories of her mother, some sad, some bad but most were always happy and sometimes funny, Jeralt stopped when he heard the soft breathing of Byleth asleep, he gently lifts her bridal style and carries her into her room laying her on the bed and pulling the blanket over her, he leans down and kisses her forehead and leaves the room, he stops on the steps and looks up then heads back to his room, not knowing what tomorrow would bring.

" i do not like this idea Lady Rhea, it is far too dangerous! what if 'they' find out, i cannot put Flayn in danger".

Seteth sighed, how could he argue that point." i know but are you sure you can trust the Adrestian Princess, Edelgard could be doing this for her own greed who to say she even worships the goddess". Rhea gives Seteth a glare causing him to go silent, Rhea did not blame him but Edelgard was not that person, maybe in another life she could have ended up that way." Edelgard's family has ever been friends to the Church, it is if i am honest Prince Dimitri i am worried about, have you noticed that he has been going off somewhere in secret and if some Knights are to be believed, said to have been spotted talking to a mysterious figure". Seteth sighed but he could not disagree, ever since that day he tried so hard to protect Flayn." Cichol i know you better than anyone else, i know you are trying to keep Cethleann safe but do you not think that maybe it is time to stop hiding to stop running, if honest i am tired of both, too long have we hid in fear that Those monsters will find us and destroy the last of us for just being her children". Edelgard sat in the classroom that would serve as the Black Eagles home-room, that was the name of her class and she wondered who would be their teacher, Hubert sat nearby, Dorothea and Petra sat together, Caspar and Linhardt did as well, Ferdinand sat with Bernadetta who clearly looked ready to run to her room, Edelgard closed her eyes only she was believed to be dead, her friends truly were going to enroll at this academy, she did not want to involve them in her life even more but they chose to when they learned of it, Edelgard was grateful by their dedication, Edelgard hears someone enter the classroom and looks to find Byleth, who proceeds to stand behind her desk and looks at them all." you know who i am, i will be your professor during your time here i understand that at least six of you were going to be here before we met those days before". all nodded, Hubert remained silent so did Edelgard.

" i understand that normally a teacher would start with written test and speeches about history and combat instead you will do something else".

the Black Eagles were confused, Byleth sets down some papers." if you will follow me to the training grounds". the students followed, Byleth enters the training grounds first and stands in the middle of the large area and turns to look at the Black Eagles." instead i will see how skilled you are, i will face each of you one at a time to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and what you need to improve on". of course the first was Ferdinand." " good idea but you are slow you must be faster and prepared for the move i did, you must have a counterattack in mind, a way to counter at all times".

Ferdinand was not upset, in fact it seemed he was glad for the lesson, next was Caspar who used a Practice Axe and roars as he charges Byleth who just simply steps aside and trips him he gets back up and charges recklessly again, Byleth steps aside again and grabs his arm and flips him over her shoulder onto his back, Edelgard had to smirk as she heard a groan and Caspar speak." ow...". Byleth helps him up, Caspar grins." wow! you are really strong!". Byleth just chuckles." you need to have a plan of attack, charging in recklessly like you did just twice now will only get you and your allies killed, you must defend yourself and your allies, a good defense is sometimes the best offense". Caspar just shrugs and returns to stand by Linhardt who seemed ready to sleep, Petra steps up next." i will face you". Byleth nods and she hands Petra a practice sword, Petra flips it over into a reverse grip similar to a Assassin.

Petra moves with good speed, Byleth prepared to dodge but Petra changed her attack twisting to strike from the other direction, Byleth blocks the strike and twists her own practice sword, Petra twists her sword along with Byleth's but Byleth twists her in the other direction and knocks it out of her hand and points it at Petra." you are good, but you really on your speed too much, i understand that some natives of Brigid train to be fast when hunting but you cannot always rely on speed". Petra nods." i shall remember, thank you Professor". She goes back to stand next to Dorothea, Byleth looks at the students and looks to Berndaetta." ohhhh do i have to, can't we just go back to the classroom...". Byleth walks over and gently takes her hand." yes but how bout this, i will give you a gift if you do this, i will not force you to do this none of you have no obligations to do as i say, you are free to leave, you are free to learn what you want to". Edelgard knew why Bernadetta was acting like this and the thought angered her, Byleth hands Bernadetta a practice bow and arrows, Byleth steps away some feet." i want you to try and hit me with your arrows". Bernadetta readies a arrow and fires but Byleth easily deflects it with her practice sword and rushes at her, Bernadetta begins to freak out and tries to hit her with another arrow but before she could byleth was before her and had knocked the bow from her grip, Bernadetta was terrified but Byleth then surprising them again runs a hand comforting through bernadetta's hair." no need to be scared, like i said you do not have to do anything i say, you are your own people, free to do what you want". Bernadetta looks up at her, Byleth simply gives a soft smile and moves away, Bernadetta returns to her friends still shy but Edelgard began to notice a change.

" Edelgard, if you wish to go next then come, it is your choice if you choose not to".

Edelgard nods and steps into the arena, she grabs a practice axe she was not backing down she had to look strong for her fellow students, she had to show that she was a capable leader she knew that she likely will lose this practice match but she was not gonna go down that easily, Byleth readies her practice sword, Edelgard moves and swings Byleth was caught off guard at the speed and strength as it collided against her weapon, Byleth saw determination in Edelgard's eyes, Edelgard jumps back seeing Byleth kicking out, Edelgard grips axe with both hands and twirls it as if it was just a one hand weapon of course being a practice axe it was light enough to wield with one hand, Byleth was impressed by her skills, it was clear she was taught little bit of combat by someone.

But Byleth could see that Edelgard was little too determined to win, Byleth saw an opening and went for it, then Edelgard surprises her by casting a spell and a fireball came at her, Byleth rolls away as it hits the ground causing dust and smoke to go in the air, this blocked her vision and then Byleth turns quickly as Edelgard jumped through the thick dust and misses Byleth by a inch, Byleth swings her weapon up and knocks the axe from Edelgard's grip and points at her with her sword." impressive, but you really too much skill, you show too much pride in your skills you do not wish to show weakness". Edelgard looks down, she was right but Edelgard felt she had to hide her weakness." a leader must be willing to show that side, a leader must rely on others if they fall to help them back up". Edelgard nods, she was right she could not do this alone when she was ready she will tell her fellow students and friends her plan, she returns to stand by Hubert.

" seeing how you do, hubert and Linhardt and Dorothea since you are magic users you are the last i want to see".

Hubert steps forward a almost wicked smirk on his face." do not expect me to go easy on you Professor". Byleth smirks accepting his challenge." then show me".

* Somewhere in Adrestia*

" impossible! if you say is true then we must move now!".

" calm yourself Arundel, in do time let us see what she will do i am curious it is simple as that".

Volkhard von Arundel sneers." you promised me! that if i eliminate the Imperial Family Adrestia will be mine yet not only is my Eldest Niece alive! so is Edelgard! and now protected by the Church! i will not move against the church only for my rule to fall! if that happens it will be your fault Thales!". Arundel was suddenly grabbed by the throat, Thales sneers." do not threaten me beast! the only reason you are even alive is cause of your usefulness! you would not have this position if not for me! it was you who came and begged me to give you rule over Adrestia, and to rule all of Fodlan and i will give you that in due time". he lets Arundel go who coughs trying to regain his breath." now, we will continue to bid our time and when that time comes you will have all Fodlan under your control". Thales leaves the throne room and stops as someone speaks." such a waste but he continues to be useful there will be no need to rid of him...yet". Byleth enters the Archbishop's Office, it had been couple weeks and the dreams continued and she needed answers." Professor are you alright?". Byleth looks to her." Lady Rhea...i know that if i have any problems to come to you...lately i have been having strange dreams that are incredibly real...of a girl with green hair sitting on a throne...she says her name is Sothis and that is all she can remember..". Rhea's eyes went wide, Byleth just literally told her that she was seeing Sothis the Goddess and her own mother." tell me did she say anything else". Byleth nods." that she is the beginning, what does it mean...". Rhea could tell she was frightened she takes her hands in her own." it will be alright i promise...i suppose it is time to tell you, but i want Jeralt here as well, he must know too". Rhea turns to Seteth who Byleth forgot had been in the room the whole time who looked shocked at Byleth's descriptions.

" Seteth go and request Jeralt to come to my office, there is something i must tell him".

Seteth nods and leaves, Flayn came in then." did i hear right...that you been seeing the Goddess..". Byleth nods, Rhea thought it would explain what she was told during the Mock Battle of her skill and also during training sessions with the Black Eagles, Jeralt arrived looking concerned." something wrong Rhea? Seteth told me it was urgent". Rhea nods and she takes a breath." Byleth and Jeralt, i never told you this for Sitri asked me not to and i kept such a promise for twenty one years fearing how you would react". Jeralt looks at her confused but let her continue." ever since war of heroes, i have been trying to bring my mother back...but failed so many times and eventually gave up...that was until you Byleth". Byleth stared at her.

" i never intended it to happen, you were...born stillborn, Sitri begged me to save you and so without thinking i implanted the Crest of Flames into you and not only were you revived but a miracle happened...you had a heartbeat but also with what you been telling me of your dreams in a way revived My Mother...".

Jeralt was in silence, Byleth was too trying to process it all." i understand if you do not wish to do anything with me after this revelation, i let you leave cause even though you have my mother's crest you are your own person, you make your own choices and make your own path to a future of your own, Jeralt already knows who i really am as well as Flayn and Seteth". Byleth still did not respond, Jeralt spoke then." well i understand....it was what Sitri wanted and thank you for telling me this, if anything i should thank you Rhea, you saved Sitri and our daughter". Rhea smiled, Byleth's head was lowered, bangs covering eyes she saw byleth's hands clenched." again i understand...i just wanted to save people, i never wanted this i lost everything that day and i could not let Sitri nor Jeralt lose you". Rhea was about to turn trying to not show tears when a hand grips her arms and suddenly she was brought into a hug by Byleth who buried her face in Rhea's shoulder eyes closed.

She pulls away from Rhea, smiling Rhea smiled back." no..". she takes Byleth's hands in her own again." thank you, i see lot of your mother in you, and i am glad that for those eight years she was alive that your life was full of happiness, i could not ask for more". Seteth had left at some point when a Knight of Seiros had entered with Seteth." Lady Rhea we have a problem". Rhea looks to him." The Hero's Relic Amyr has been stolen so has the Flame Emperor Armor". Rhea looked shocking, Byleth frowned and Jeralt sighed he clearly knew this was not good, Rhea then spoke again." show me, Byleth, Jeralt there is one more thing i must tell you but Edelgard must be with us". just as she said her name, Edelgard appeared." Lady Rhea i heard and i need to see for myself". Hubert was there with her, they followed Rhea through a secret path down stairs and Byleth was in awe at seeing the vast underground area.

" This is the Abyss and these are the Citizens of the Abyss, they are in a sense my spies when i need them, come".

they soon came into a large armory of armor and weaponry clearly from ancient times and came upon where Edelgard knew where The Flame Emperor Armor and The Hero Relic should have been." Lady Rhea it seems you have a traitor and spy amongst your ranks". Rhea turns to Seteth." take Some knights and investigate each of the dorms, but do not frightened the students, no if anyone who would manage to break into here might likely be 'them' but i need to make sure the students and others are not involved". Seteth bows and leaves, Flayn looked frightened it was clear to Byleth that Flayn had experience some bad things long ago, She reaches over silently and softly ran a hand through Flayn's hair who looks up at her." it's going to be okay". Edelgard saw this exchange and gave a small smile.

" it seems that we must rethink things, for now nobody cannot know".

Edelgard with the others returned up and went their separate ways, Byleth and Jeralt returned to their rooms, Edelgard was heading back to her room when she heard something, it was coming from near the garden, Edelgard silently made her way and saw the Blue Lion House leader but something was off, he had white hair instead of blond, She hid in the shadows of a wall and listened to Dimitri talking to some figure." you told me that she was dead yet she is here". that was Dimitri and then she hears the mysterious man speak." i am just as surprised as you, but worry not she too has a role to play, the students will soon go and take care of some unruly thieves, i want you to send the Death Knight to take care of the one who stole a Hero Relic and then take care of this Professor". Dimitri glared, the Black armored Figured turned to leave as Dimitri spoke." and what if 'She' gets involved". the man stopped and looks at him.

" do not worry, that will be taken care of when the time comes".

Edelgard snuck away without being detected, Dimitri her step-brother was working for some mysterious group and he did not even look like himself and who was this Death Knight? Edelgard wanted to tell Rhea but she needed more info which she did not have time for in a couple days was their first mission to deal with some thieves, apparently Sylvain's brother Miklain had been ousted for not having a crest and he left and stole a hero's Relic, Edelgard closed her eyes she had much to process and to figure out, she returned to her room and cause of exhaustion soon fell asleep.

* Couple days later*

Edelgard walked in front next to Byleth, the Black Eagles walking behind them with couple other students including Sylvain, and Sir Gilbert tagged along, Edelgard knew who he was, he had been a former knight of Faerghus and his name was actually Gustave Dominic, he was Annette's father but Edelgard respected his privacy and maybe he just wanted to retire from being a knight, she was not sure on why he left but mattered not for they had arrived at the place where Miklain and his Group were, Byleth stops and turns to them." before we make our move, i want you to understand that this is your first battle, you will have to kill to survive, this battle will change you i only want you to be prepared". and soon they struck, the bandits were struggling but they were vicious and dangerous, it seemed they were rallying as Miklain barked orders and they gave loud cheers and battle cries.

however they were able to take them down, Byleth could see the shock on her students' faces having to kill, Byleth understood she had experience such with her first human kill, but like her they needed to steel themselves and they came to face with Miklain." morons! how could you let these kids beat you! killl them!". suddenly the Spear Miklain was holding Crest began to glow a vicious red and strange black tentacles began to sprout from it and began to envelop his arm seeing this he began to scream in terror and trying to rip off the black things but it was useless and he was swallowed by them and then he consumed form changed shape and mass becoming larger and then stood a huge beast of black with glowing red eyes.

" what in the name of the Goddess is that!?".

and without warning, the Black Beast began tearing down her students, Byleth was smacked and slammed hard into the wall, blood leaking from the gash across her chest, Byleth saw her students being torn apart and Edelgard and Gilbert the last ones standing, Byleth saw the Black Beast ready to strike and saw the Terror in Edelgard's eyes, Byleth screamed." NOOO!!". and suddenly she was standing in the strange void, she looked up and saw Sothis on her throne." seems i must interfere, yes i stopped time if you must know but when it starts again they will die". Byleth did not know what to do, she tightly gripped her sword and left hand closed in a fist her nails digging into her palm." i don't know what to do...is there a way to maybe reverse time?". Sothis looked thoughtful and then clapped her hands together." of course! yes that might just work! if that Rhea woman says i am who she believes than maybe i can do something, alright but be warned you can only go back so far be careful when using this power". Byleth nods and time rewound, and returned to just minutes before the Black Beast first struck.

" Move away! quickly!".

the Students nodded and they fell back and the claws of the Black Beast hit the stone where they had stood and roared in rage, Byleth strikes it with a Fire Spell, she had to think of something." Hubert! hit it with Dark magic! Bernadetta arrows! Dorothea and Linhardt heal us when he get hurt! rest with me!". Byleth charges the beast and strikes with her sword and jumps back as it turns to swipe at her, Edelgard swings down her axe with Caspar, Hubert hits it with a barrage of Dark Spikes and Miasma spells, Gilbert joined swinging his Silver Axe, Petra comes striking it with a flurry of strikes with her sword, the constant attacks and dodging eventually caused the black beast to roar in pain and fall over and it melted returning to the form of Miklain who was somehow still alive, but he was in horrid pain trying to crawl away, suddenly a figure appeared and rams their Blade through the back of Miklain, it was a Mortal Savant in dark clothing and they swing sword and removes Miklain's head.

they turn to them, Byleth steps in front of her students sword in front of her ready to protect her students, Sylvain at some point had picked up the Hero's Relic, The Mortal Savant grunted and spoke in a deep gravely voice." be glad that my orders are to take care of this one, my orders were also to take care of you Ashen Demon but it seems that will not be that day". the Warrior turned and vanished via a warp spell, Byleth lowers her sword and saw Sylvain on his knees before Miklain's corpse, head down he was just kneeling there, Byleth looks at her students Gilbert walks up." when we return i will make the reports....". Sylvain remained silent, a couple knights came over that had come with and lifted Miklain's body and head." we will give him a proper burial". Sylvain nodded, the students did not speak respecting that he needed time to grieve.

the group soon returned to Garreg Mach, Byleth and Gilbert made their reports Byleth was walking back to her room she saw the students but they were silent, having forlorn looks, She knew that look they had killed human lives and they were still trying to process that fact, some had horrified looks on their faces, Byleth walks up." oh Professor...um...we...". Byleth stops Ferdinand." no need, one is never ready for what you did no matter how prepared you are killing someone will always remain in your memory forever burned in your mind but you should not let it stop you from your dreams". they all looked at each other, Byleth looks at them." this will not be the last time you will kill but know that sometimes you must make that choice, know that i am proud that you remained strong and determined during the mission". all smiled, Edelgard looks to Hubert who nods.

" thank you Professor".

" go and get some rest, Rhea has given you couple days to rest and then class resumes afterwards".

the students disperse, Byleth enters her room and sat at her desk, she sighed she knew after Rhea told her that she had the Crest of Flames in her and that apparently the ghost of Sothis as well, was that power used to reverse time a power the Goddess had before her demise long ago? Byleth wish she knew maybe she would ask Rhea about Sothis more someday for now she felt tired and so she removed her coat and laid on her bed, it was not long before she fell asleep dreaming of Sothis and whatever else came to her.

* Somewhere in Garreg Mach*

" I see....it matters not like you said you will get another chance for now our plans continue".

Dimitri was talking to the Mysterious Mortal Savant." yes My Lord, also it seems that those with no crest that use a Hero's Relic will transform into demonic beasts". Dimitri hummed in thought." yes...a fact apparently The Archbishop is keeping silent, keep an eye on the Professor, something is off about her and i want to know why Thales and his Organization are so interested in killing her". the Mortal Savant nods and leaves, Dimitri sighed." you can come out". he turns to find Dedue." Prince Dimitri....i knew something was off but this..". Dimitri sighed, looking to his loyal retainer." Dedue....i must do this, you must understand the Church has too long control Fodlan from the shadows we are taking back what is ours". Dedue looks down, despite knowing that this was wrong he was loyal." i understand...". Dimitri rests a hand on Dedue's Shoulder." do not worry Dedue, this is the right path". Dimitri then walks away, Dedue watches him leave, Dedue sighed and made his way back to his way back to his room, little did anyone know that this was simply the beginning.

The Students had few days of rest, Byleth saw they were still troubled by killing but they seemed to have more or less taken that and used it to learn and move on, Byleth was proud normally those who kill people the first time are broken but her students became stronger and more determined, she saw that in Edelgard, she saw determination to make a world where no crests and nobility were no longer one sided, where commoners and Nobles were equals.

It was time for their new mission and it was to route a rebel force led by Lonato from the Kingdom according to reports they rose against the Church, Byleth was introduced to Catherine who wielded a Hero's Relic The Thunderbrand, Byleth had to smile Catherine was very loyal to Rhea and who could blame her, Rhea had that ability and quality and Byleth loved that about Rhea the group were at the plains were Lonato was reported to be, fog covered the area it was hard to see anything." well this was not what we expected, good things we brought torches, men light it up". the Group of Knights of Seiros that came with lit the torches it was not enough to light the whole area but they could use the Torches to navigate when suddenly a arrow rammed into the throat of one of the Knights.

" Shit! Ambush! means this fog is not normal! a Mage is somewhere! find the mage!".

Byleth unsheathes her sword and she looks to Ashe who looked reluctant she walks over." Ashe you can return to the Monastery i will understand if you do not want to fight your adoptive father". Ashe shook his head and looked to Her." no...i have to get through to him...i must". Byleth smiled, then she swings around sword swinging and knocked a arrow out of the air and rushes in the direction of the sniper, at some point the fog cleared revealing the enemy forces, it was a mix of former kingdom knights and mostly Commoners, Byleth frowned this made no sense why would a well respected lord use commoners, this just made no sense.

Edelgard was thinking the same, something felt off she looks to her sister Altena and General Duessel, who had decided to join them, seeing her sister in battle was awe inspiring, Altena moved with grace her spear a blur, Duessel was too his skill in combat showing as he moved with skills earned in battle, Edelgard dodges a sword strike and swings her own weapon strikes, the mission was to apprehend Lonato and his forces not kill them, She heard yelling and looks to see Lady Catherine striking down enemy troops non lethally, Byleth and Catherine both charged Lonato who was astride his horse and axe and shield in hand, He blocks Byleth's Blade and swings his Axe at Catherine as she swung Thunderbrand, Lonato must have known he was at a disadvantage on a Horse for he quickly dismounted and continued fighting Byleth and Catherine.

" i will not fall so easily!".

Byleth blocks a vicious axe strike from the Lord, Catherine's Thunderbrand slammed into Lonato's Shield as he blocks the strike but the blow rattled him, Lonato despite wearing armor his shield arm went slightly numb, he grits his teeth in determination." Lord Lonato! Please Stop!". Lonato looks to see Ashe, Byleth took advantage and kicks out his feet and causes him to fall to the ground, Byleth points her sword at his throat, Ashe ran over Lonato sits up." Lord Lonato....stop this, please". Lonato looks away." i cannot do that". Ashe looks sad, Byleth suddenlt moves and Blocks a Sword from an Unknown assailant it was the Death Knight and she saw a mysterious figure not far dressed in bluish armor and wore a almost lion like helmet, Catherine saw this and charged at him and was thrown back just by a single movement from the figure.

" it seems you failed Lonato".

" i did not know that Thunder Catherine would be involved nor the infamous Ashen Demon".

" no excuses Lord Lonato".

The Mysterious Figure slowly walks over and with inhuman speed kills Lonato, Ashe screamed and Byleth knocks the death knight back and uses Divine Pulse turning back time a few seconds, after She moves knocking back the Death Knight again and blocks the Mysterious Figure's weapon Byleth kicks into his chest forcing him to stumble back but was clearly unfazed." interesting, seems you are more than you appear, Ashen Demon". Byleth frown confused at what he means, The Figure stood tall he had his spear at his side idle, Edelgard arrived and saw the figure and his weapon." a Hero's Relic...who are you!". how did this person have a Hero's Relic, the figure looks to her." you may simply call me the Azure King and it is none of your concern why i have this Hero Relic". Edelgard glares, This Azure King turns." come it is time we leave". The Death Knight sheathes their sword and follows the Azure King.

" El are you alright?".

" Yes Altena i am fine".

Duessel walked up, curiousity on his face." this Azure King....strange and he wields the Hero's Relic Areadhbar". Edelgard nods, she looks to her teacher Byleth was in deep thought, Catherine was walking Lonato away with Ashe helping her, Edelgard closed her eyes she had her suspicions on who might be the Azure King but she needed more information she will have to have Hubert does some investigation, it was not long before the group returned to Garreg Mach and Lonato was put into the dungeon, Byleth and Catherine went and reported to Rhea, Edelgard had ordered Hubert to investigate this Azure King, currently she was in the classroom.

" Edie are you okay you look deep in thought".

" sorry Dorothea there is a lot on my mind, questions i wish i had".

" well if you want to talk we are here, just remember that".

Edelgard smiled, Byleth entered the classroom she turns to the class." i have an announcement, in few weeks time the Battle of the Lion and Eagle will be held while at same time to prepare for more attacks similar to Lord Lonato's Rebellion and so forth, so the next few weeks i will be up your training and lessons to a more advanced level". the students nodded, Byleth came to the board." we will be doing tactics today and the next few days while also doing combat training". Byleth turns to the Students, Edelgard listened as she began talking about today's lesson, Edelgard and the class later finished and left, Edelgard headed to her room Hubert comes up." Lady Edelgard, i finished my investigation...unfortunately nothing of importance i could find". Edelgard sighed, she figured this was a possibility." however interesting info i did find regarding what began Lonato's Rebellion". Edelgard looks at him.

" apparently the Southern Church and also a mysterious group managed to persuade Lord Lonato sadly nothing on who these mysterious benefactors are".

Edelgard nods." then we speak to the man himself, also Lady Rhea might know as well, for now let us rest and speak with him tomorrow". Hubert bows and leaves, Edelgard enters her room, and changes into her nightwear and soon went to sleep.

* Meanwhile*

" so he has failed, it seems we must rethink our plans, find and gather Kostas and his Thieves it seems we must use them once more".

The Azure King stood before The Death Knight who bows and leaves, The Azure King turns to the other figure." you owe me an explanation Thales". Thales looks to him a sinister smirk on his pale features." you will figure it out, true Thunder Catherine getting involved was not part of my plan but this was just a test and now we know that the loyalty to 'Her' is fractured, it will only be a matter of time before the Church of Seiros will be no more". The Azure King grunted, Thales just kept smirking." you will get what we promised, Fodlan will be yours and the Church no more but remember if not for us you would not have the power you have now, so remember that boy". and Thales warped away, The Azure King sneered and turns away." remember that my alliance with you is only temporary, once i have accomplished my goals i will have no need of you".

Location: Garreg Mach Monastery

It had been five years since the Azure King Aka Dimitri and the Kingdom invaded Garreg Mach, Five years since the disappearance of their beloved Professor and more, Edelgard felt broken losing Byleth but she had to remain strong for her friends and for her teacher, Edelgard had struck Enbarr and retook control of the Empire but her uncle and the insurrectionists managed to escape and went into hiding, those of the Kingdom had sided with the Empire, this also included Ingrid's Aunt Isolde and few others, also during this time the Kingdom had declared war and been striking Imperial lands as well as the Alliance Lands, Claude had left going to the Alliance, Rhea and the Knights of Seiros thankfully were able to push Dimitri's forces back.

it was the unexpected betrayal of half of the knights of Faerghus that gave Edelgard and her allies the upper hand but then Thales and his organization appeared with Mechanisms known as Golems, this had forced Rhea to assume her draconic form but in the battle she was injured only with Byleth was she able to survive but at a cost, Thales seeking to destroy Seiros in her weakened state sent a orb of dark energy at her but Byleth suddeny appeared and used her body as a shield, the blast hit the ground and Byleth fell into the abyss, Rhea had screamed in rage, all were shocked by her loss, they all thought since Byleth and Sothis were one now that Byleth would be powerful enough to survive that but even with the Sword of the Creator she was lost to them.

Edelgard stood in the Goddess Tower, thinking on all that has happened, she now wore a regal red dress that was more military than formal, complete with a ram horn crown and some jewelry (Three Houses Time-Skip Outfit), Edelgard closed her eyes." we made a promise five years ago to meet again....seems that promise now has been broken...". Edelard suddenly hears a sound and unsheathes Mercurius, a Sacred Relic of the Adrestian Empire, a sword once wielded by one of her ancestors she turns and strikes the blade collides into a familiar bone like sword, there before her was one who they all believed gone." Professor...this cannot be real....". Byleth, her teacher could not be here yet.

" it is really me El".

Edelgard hugs her dear teacher, Byleth hugs back both not caring about their blades clattering to the floor, Edelgard fought back tears after a little bit they pulled apart." but how?". Byleth chuckled, she scratched the back of her head." it's kind of hard to believe but i was sort of sleeping". Edelgard chuckled, it was hard to believe but she knew that after seeing lots of crazy unbelievable things." i believe you, come i am sure you want to see the others". Byleth smiled she indeed wanted to see her former students." yes i would like that". the two left the tower and Byleth now that she had a chance saw a mixture of Imperial Soldiers, Knights of Seiros and Kingdom Soldiers within the Monastery, She looks to Edelgard." after Dimitri's assault on Garreg Mach, we were able to push him and his forces back after that i took control of the Empire and began my plans for Fodlan". Byleth nods soon they came into the training grounds, there were all her students from the Black Eagles House." Professor! it's you! i thought i saw you heading towards the tower". Byleth nods, she saw they were all grown.

" yes it is good seeing you Professor".

" Heck Yeah! you owe me a rematch!".

" yes welcome back can i nap now".

" not gonna happen Linhardt, our supposedly dead Professor has returned i think she would like to know what we been doing all these years".

Byleth silently thanked Hubert who just nodded and came to stand next to Edelgard." i am sorry i left you all, you've grown up i missed so much". all of them began to explain what happened after the Battle five years ago, Petra had returned to Brigid, Caspar and Linhardt had taken over their father's roles in the Military, Dorothea continued her life as a opera singer with Manuela, Bernadetta after her father had been more or less exiled became head of her house though Byleth could tell she was still a little shy and such but she told her that Yuri had been helping her, Ferdinand was now Duke, and Hubert was now House Vestra's lord and Marquess of Adrestia, Edelgard was obvious she ws now Emperor.

" so much had happened, what about the others?".

" The Blue Lions are in the Kingdom though working as spies, i am looking for anyone who will join me in this war, those who do not share Dimitri's view".

Byleth nods, she was glad to hear that at least they saw Dimitri's madness, she looked to her students then Edelgard." and the Golden Deer?". Hubert was the one who spoke up." returned to the Alliance, Lysithea aids us as for the others with the Alliance being more or less Neutral we been in a stalemate against them, Leonie Pinelli has been traveling with your Father Sir Jeralt and his Mercenaries though last we heard from her is that she returned to her home in Sauin Village". Byleth hummed, She crossed her arms bringing one hand to her chin in deep thought." i see, and Rhea?". the former students were all silent, Edelgard speaks up." i think it is best you go see her yourself". the soft smile on her face told Byleth all she needed as she turned and found Rhea standing there.

Byleth walks over and hugs her, Rhea was in tears and hugged her back." you're alive....". Byleth steps back, smiling." of course i made your mother a promise and i keep my promises". Rhea quickly composed herself." thank you, i suppose you wish to know my stance on what has happened". Byleth nodded and Rhea began to tell her that after the assault on Garreg Mach, she aided Edelgard in reclaiming the Empire, she reopened Garreg Mach and was using it as a sanctuary for anyone refugees during the war, it explained the mixture of Knights, Imperials and Knights of Seiros she seen." that is good to know". Edelgard came up." come i am sure you are tired and hungry, we kept your room empty and clean in case you ever returned". Byleth nods and after some words with her former students headed to her room.

* meanwhile*

" and why should i listen to you Boar".

Rufus glares up at his Nephew in his cell, Dimitri glared back as he stood before his Uncle's Cell." because Uncle, if not for me you would be dead now but i told you i have use for you, you wish to be respected? do you wish to reclaim your honor, then if you do this i will give you such". Rufus rises from the cot and walks over." and what is it i have to do to regain my honor to regain my family name".
