Chapter Text
BAM!
With a loud crash, a lombre bursts through the doors and stumbles down the wooden stairs that lead into a bar. Standing above it’s weakened body is a small mawile, a wide grin plastered on her face and a slightly larger honedge resting on her shoulder. The other patrons turn in shock as they quickly realize just who had busted into their sanctuary. Evelynn, the Devil Samurai herself.
“”Sup bitches!” She makes her way down the stairs and brutally stomps on the chest of the defeated lombre without even giving him a second glance. “So I heard the leader of the Rebellion was hiding out in this little piss hole! Care to step forward?” The bar is covered in a blanket of hushed whispers. Not an eye leaves the mawile, most paralyzed in fear of her bold presence. She lets out an amused huff before pressing her foot into the neck of the lombre.
“You might wanna hurry and show up! I haven’t got the best patience, y’know?” She slams the tip of honedge into the floor, deathly close to the face of the pokemon below her. He shrieks in fear, already shaking under her and pleading for his life. At least, the best he can with a heel to his throat. Still, no one budges an inch.
“Pathetic.” She pulls the blade out and readies it above her with ease, ready to decapitate the poor water type. Right before she can swing, she catches the glimpse of a shell zooming through the air toward her. She narrowly dodges and sees from the direction it came a dewott stand up from his table, gently placing down his cup.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Lady Samurai.” He picks up the remaining scallop from his hip and a blueish, watery looking blade extends from it. With blinding speed, he dashes toward her and brings the blade down with a mighty overhead swing. Effortlessly, she blocks the strike with her Honedge and locks blades with him, her ever present grin never faltering as a wild look glistens in her eyes. “I had to finish my drink.”
“So you’re the legendary leader huh? C’mon! Show me what’cha got!” She throws him off her blade and charges at him with a rising swing. He easily sees this coming and allows the blade to slide across his water sword before landing a swift slice along her chest in retaliation. His Night Slash critical hits the samurai, leading her to stagger just a bit, however, it’s not very effective…
Her body shines with a silver glow before she retaliates with a wild swing. The otter pokemon is ready to block, but it turns out to be just a fake out as she purposely misses and strikes him in the chin with a rising knee. She takes advantage of his surprise from being hit by her Metal Burst, to lead into a gut check with the hilt of her blade then throws him into a table. She flips the Honedge in her grasp and attempts to plunge it into him, but he narrowly dodges by rolling off the table and staggers back to get proper distance. He raises his sword arm above his head and brings the opposite leg up to strike an elegant pose, raising his focus and power.
“Pretty cute dance, but you’re not gonna beat me by prancing around.” The Mawile taunts with a beckoning gesture with a free hand. The dewott manages to fall for it and in mild irritation advances toward her, poised to deliver a flurry of furious cuts. However, she dashes forward and takes him by surprise by Sucker Punching him in the face, leaving her honedge wedged in the table.
“Let’s play rough!” She teases as she continues her onslaught, punching and kicking him while he’s down. After a bit, the dewott is left wheezing and curled on the floor. With a disappointed sigh she steps back and grabs her sword then points it at the defeated leader. “Y’know? I was expecting a bit more…” She takes a powerful step forward, a blast of wind erupting from her step and the wood below her splintering and giving way to her. With unrestrained force, she thrusts her sword forward and impales… the floor next to him.
“With people like me in her service, you’d never take down the Queen. So… let me join you.” A smile creeps along her face. “I, too, want her dead after all.”
The duo had left the bar, and the Kingdom of Vermillion behind and journeyed through the open land for a while before arriving at a small town located within a valley. Immediately, Lyn had recognised the place. It was Enesra, a small area that she and her father would visit when she was younger. Back then it was a much smaller place, barely getting itself off the ground. Now, it seems to be a nicely populated area, complete with a rather nice fountain located in the middle of the town square! Plenty of pokemon of various sizes made their way through town, chatting with each other, playing games, working, or generally just enjoying each other's company. Not a single soul batted an eye at the infamous Devil Samurai that wandered into town. Lyn wasn’t too surprised though. Word travels fast in the Kingdom, but outside those walls, tales of the upcoming general in the Kingdom’s Army probably won’t travel far. Unless, one was listening of course.
It didn’t take much longer for the duo to reach a rather familiar establishment, a cafe that was seemingly isolated from the rest near the south edge of town. The sign outside depicted a weavile claw holding onto a cup with liquid sloshing out of it. The Whimsical Weavile. A cafe that specialized in selling slushies. It was a strange idea when she first heard it long ago, but she couldn’t deny that their drinks were beastly!
“Wait here.” The dewott who was leading her motioned with his good arm for her to remain outside. “I don’t want anyone to come to any strange conclusions about you walking in and getting thrashed any worse than I did.” This earns a chuckle from the mawile who just silently waves him away. She’s left alone for a short time before Dex returns and guides her inside. She’s shocked to find that the place was rather empty at the moment save for a typhlosion, servine, and furret that she recognised immediately.
“Marie!” Lyn cheerfully calls out to the ferret pokemon. Before the other can react, she’s already tackled her to the ground in a hug, shocking the rest. The first to act is the fire type. He leaps from his table and tries to pull the samurai off of his companion, but is swiftly met with a scabbard to his face. “Back off, hot shot!” She glares back at the poor fellow who was now rubbing his rather sore nose. The furret seems shocked for a moment before seeing the honedge within her grasp and quickly realizes just who this was!
“Evlynn? Whoa it’s been forever!” She happily hugs her old friend before lifting her up and suplexing her into a nearby table. The whole room falls into an uncomfortable silence as time seems to slow to a crawl. Slowly, the mawile stands up, her head hanging low as something of a growl resonates from her. The dewott and typh step back while the servine only looks on in silent curiosity.
“...You.” Lyn visibly shakes as her words come out in a small whisper before booming, “I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” She drops her blade and tackles the furret once more, the two of them laughing as they exchange rather powerful blows. She sticks a tiny knee on the other's much larger chest and leans over her. “How have you been? Where’s Amaki?” She looks around a bit, laughing as Marie slips from under her and headbutts her chest.
“She’s currently on a recon mission, of sorts.” The servine gently butts in. His gaze seems gentle, if not indifferent, and doesn’t falter as Lyn’s eyes lock on him. “I’m sorry. My name is Nemesia. You may refer to me as N if you wish. I suppose you can say it's like a code name, of sorts.” He points to the dewott with a small jerk of his head. “The dewott you pummeled is Dexter, however we refer to him as Dex.”
“And I’m Vesuvious!” The typhlosion from earlier proudly slaps his chest with a paw. “But you can call me Vivi!” He leans down and looks Lyn up and down curiously. However this is swiftly met with a drawn honedge pointed right between his eyes. “A-Ah… I gotta admit, I’m pretty shocked to hear one of the Queen’s lackey’s wanting to take her down.” He slowly moves his face to the left only to have the blade follow. “Say… I thought you dropped that?”
“I don’t like bipeds.” Lyn simply replies, narrowing her eyes. Vivi raises an eyebrow and shoots glances at the other males. N simply shrugs while Dex just laughs and scratches the back of his head. Without much thought, the typh gets down on all fours and Lyn’s disposition suddenly changes. “Oh my Arceus! You’re so cute!” Before he can react, Vivi is tackled and forced into a headlock by the smaller pokemon.
“Interesting…” A vine rests upon N’s chin as he begins to wonder. “I never expected the Samurai to be so eccentric. Perhaps the tales were indeed tall.” He clears his throat, interrupting the roughhousing and earning everyone’s attention. “Let’s make this quick. Lyn, do you vow to do whatever it takes to assist us in slaying the Queen and bringing an end to her bloody rule?”
Lyn drops the fire type and leans on his head with an elbow. “Yeah. If I didn’t, I’d just kill you all right now!” She laughs as the others look at each other rather uncomfortably. It was true, she could easily slaughter them all if she wanted to. Then again… it was four against one. “And if you think you’ve got numbers on your side, you’d better reconsider.” She turns to Marie. “You’ve seen me take on an entire battalion on my own, and I was much younger back then. I can handle a ragtag group of untrained nobodies, and their super hot friend.” She pats the typh’s head gently.
Dex laughs before also leaning on Vivi, using him as a makeshift bed. “Well, it seems we lucked out and got a very valuable ally!”
“It would seem so…” The servine jumps onto the back of the typh before coiling up into a ball.
“Uh guys?” Vivi huffs as Marie also lands onto his back with a thud. “I-I’m not a bed!!!”
