Work Text:

“Alright, hold still.” the mirror man reached out from behind his halo to start applying foundation to your skin. You still can’t see his face, so you have no idea how he can see yours, probably through his mirrors.

“Your skin is nice, but there are so many problem areas, your skin is even more forgetful than mine,” he sighs and pulls back, pointing at a section of your face. “Right here especially, your skin is a lot bumpier here for some reason. I still don’t understand why you won’t let me scrape those sections off, it would make you look so much better.” he complains, grabbing a new brush and dabbing it in a darker color.

“Time for contour. This might help out with bringing out your cheekbones and defining your jawline, because god knows you need help with that.” Adam leaned forward a little, but not too far so that you can see his face. “I mean, your skin isn’t that bad, I’ve definitely seen worse,” he waves his brush in the air for a second, “Like this guy I saw at the supermarket the other day, he had possibly the worst skin I’ve ever seen, he was dreadfully annoying too.”

He sets down the brush and picks up a larger one, blending the contour into your skin until it looks natural. “You know, I think you look pretty good so far, considering we didn’t touch up your problem areas. Next time we should do that. I swear, it doesn’t hurt that bad.” He swaps out brushes and dips it into a warm pink color, dusting it over your face. He stops for a second and starts moving it towards your eyeball, and naturally, you pull away.

“Hey, stay still. This part is important.” he reaches out towards your face and you move back again. Adam sighs, “It doesn’t hurt, don’t be a wimp. Listen, I’ll do it quickly if it makes you more comfortable. But I’m not skipping over this, we already skipped past several important steps.” You reluctantly lean forwards, and he grabs your chin gently but firmly, moving the brush towards your eyes, giving each a few quick dabs.

“Now that wasn’t so hard was it?” he let go of your face, as you blink and resist the urge to rub your eyes, brushing over your cheeks, nose and ears one last time before pulling back, evidently satisfied with his work thus far. “I think you would look good with a little bit of lip gloss. Nothing too dramatic, just a nice little warm accent.” The mirror man reaches to his side and retrieves a small tube of light pink lip gloss, unscrewing the top. “You know, usually when I put on lip gloss or lipstick, I make a point to use a lip scrub before, but since we’ve already skipped several other steps, and your lips aren’t very chapped, It’s alright.”

“Okay, open your mouth.” You open your mouth enough so that you imagine he can see your lips clearly. Adam carefully reaches forward and dots the gloss on your lips, “Now, sort of rub your lips together and pop them.” You listen to him, and he makes a contemplative noise. “It’s a little more bright than I wanted it to be, here, let me just do this really quick.” He reaches out with a spare tissue and lightly dabs your lips, removing a little gloss. “Hm. Much better.”

“I actually think we’re done here! I’m satisfied with this look, honestly, I think you look loads better than when we started.” He clapped his hands together, you can practically hear the shit eating grin you imagine he has right now. He reaches towards one of the mirrors across from him and flips it around so you can see yourself. You look into the mirror eagerly, met with your excited reflection grinning back at you.

For a few seconds, you’re honestly stunned. He did a great job, you slowly reach up to touch your face, admiring the dramatic but subtle contour and the way he was able to bring out your best features. “Hey hey hey hey! Don’t- Don’t do that.” the mirror man grabs your hand. “Sorry, I forgot we didn’t fix your face.” he lets go of your hand. “But you still shouldn’t touch it. You could mess it up and we would have to do this all over again! I mean, I wouldn’t mind, but maybe later, I have to touch up my own face..”
