If Only in a Dream

Summary: Keith had a bad dream and Evan gladly calms him.
Evan woke up to Keith’s cry for help. Evan shook him awake and said, “You’re dreaming. Please wake up.”
Keith woke up confused. “I dreamed that you left me telling me goodbye in a note. It was so real, Evan. Are you happy with our life?”
“Oh, Keith I would never leave a note. I would have talked to you. And yes, I’m happy. We have a job we both love, we laugh every day, we made wonderful friends and you get to design every day. What could be better?”
Keith smiled at him and kissed him softly. “I’m so glad we’re in love. We sure don’t get to show it on the show. That bothers me sometimes. Don’t you ever wish you could just hug me when I get crazy over something?”
“All the time, man. But understand HGTV doesn’t want us making out on a family show. I wonder what people would say.”
“Are we okay, Evan? Do you want more?”
Evan pulled Keith into his arms, hugging him close. Then it was his turn to softly kiss Keith. Evan didn’t think bruising Keith’s lips would be the thing that was needed right then. He kissed him again. “Do you wish anything would change in our lives?”
“I want us to get married before the law gets taken away. And next I wish we could adopt a baby. We both love kids and Shea being pregnant has brought it to the surface. My biological clock is ticking so loud that it’s keeping me awake. How do you feel about marriage and children. We have a house and plenty of love to go around.”
“I want the same thing, Keith. We’ll talk about it tomorrow. Now let’s go back to sleep. We have a big open house tomorrow. I guess that would be today. It’s 3:00 in the morning. We’ll talk later. I love you.”
“You always know what to say, Evan. Maybe we’ll have good dreams. I love you back.”
Evan held on to Keith to show him he wasn’t going anywhere. Later today they would talk and make plans.
