A Change In Plans

Summary:

Just some fluff of the husbands being silly before bed.

Notes:

Me and my homie (@vomittinq on instagram) were bouncing ideas off of each other with our OCs and a friend of mind came up with the headcanon that Abigor and Alexander originally didn’t have the purest of intentions when they first met and Abigor took him in, and I had to write it.

Alexander belongs to @vomittinq

Work Text:

The dim room was quiet aside from Alexander’s occasionally hum from the bathroom and Abigor’s scribbling on his important papers. It was the weekend, and both men were enjoying the peace that came from the coming days off at the compound.

Abigor let out a sigh, tapping his pen against the side of his chin, his eyes squinting against the bright light of his desk lamp. He had been working on a stack of mission approval papers and various other documents all evening, attempting to get a head start for the coming week. Leaning back in his office chair to stretch, he glanced up to look at his phone and swipe through a few notifications before turning back to his work.

Alexander, hearing the creak of his husband’s chair, poked his head out of the bathroom entrance. Realizing he was just taking a break, Alexander went back to preparing for bed. After a while of brushing out his long hair and tying it up, Alexander flicked off the bathroom light switch and made his way over to Abigor. He rested his chin on the other man’s shoulder, smiling at Abigor’s hum in greeting.

“Mm, you finally finish staring at yourself in the mirror?” Abigor teased, glancing at Alexander out of the corner of his eye. Alexander rolled his eyes and pouted playfully.

“Some of us enjoy having a nighttime routine that isn’t wearing pajamas and doing-,” Alexander paused to read over Abigor’s papers ,”-work related stuff.” Abigor chuckled and set his pen down, turning his head to give Alexander a peck on the cheek.

“Somebody has to keep this place going, yes? No thanks to you, dear.” He gently swatted his husband’s head off of his shoulder, so he could stand up. He looked down at Alexander with a small smile. “But, I think i’m done for the evening. You ready for bed, love?” Returning the smile, Alexander nodded and plopped onto their freshly made bed, stretching out his tail and wrapping himself in the warm comforter. Abigor crawled under the covers and buried his face in the fluffy pillows, letting out a content sigh with closed eyes. After a moment, he opened his eyes and saw Alexander staring at him with his usual loving smile. Embarrassed under the intense eye contact, Abigor gently shoved the other to make him stop. “Eh? Stop looking at me like that.”
Alexander let out a short laugh and grinned even wider, scooting back closer to his husband.

“You are just as handsome as the day I met you, Abi.” Abigor snorted at the other man’s words and attempted to turn away, stopping as Alexander grabbed his hand. He rolled his eyes and shook his head before settling back into the sheets.

“Do you even remember that day, pendejo, or are u just trying to be romantic to get me to do something for you?”

“Of course I remember! How could I forget? You were my best catch yet. Had I not thought thought you were cute, I probably would’ve killed you by now.” Silence. Abigor’s face fell. Alexander tilted his head in confusion. Had he said something wrong to upset his husband?

Abigor blinked for a moment before he broke into a fit of laughter. A wave of relief washed over Alexander as he watched Abigor nearly fall off the edge of their bed from his laughing, even letting out a chuckle of his own. Eventually Abigor calmed himself and wiped the tears from his eyes. Alexander raised an eyebrow.

“What was so funny, love?” Abigor settled back into the bed and grinned at the other man.

“Nothing. I just found it amusing we both had the same plan when we first met.” Alexander let out a laugh of his own, tickled by the realization him and his husband had came to. Upon their first meeting, both had mentally determined they would use the other to get what they want and potentially get rid of them, not realizing the other was planning the exact same thing. Alexander sat astonished for a moment, as did his husband.

“I can’t believe you never told me!” Alexander yelled, a hint of playfulness in his voice. Abigor shrugged, a small smile on his face.

“Ay, you never asked.”

Alexander moved closer to the other. He was definitely intrigued in knowing what his now husband had planned for him back then. What was his motive? When did it change? WHY did it change?

“Soooo?” Alexander prompted. Abigor hummed, acknowledging the others question. “How were you gonna kill me?”

“Alex!”

“What?! I’m interested!! I’ll tell you what I was planning if you tell me!” Abigor snorted, shaking his head. “Oh cmonnnn.” Another head shake ‘no’. “Fine. At least tell me when it changed.” Abigor let out a sigh. He knew his husband wouldn’t drop it and would pester him until sunrise if he didn’t spill his guts.

“It wasn’t any particular moment that changed anything. Just one day, I looked at you, and you weren’t just some…guy anymore. Something was different, I suppose,” Abigor trailed off. Alexander ‘aww’ed and cooed at his husband, holding his face and kissing his cheeks against his protests. Eventually Abigor gave up and grumbled some spanish curses under his breathe, his face flushed in embarrassment as Alexander finished his attack on his face. “Stoppp,” Abigor mumbled, softly grabbing Alexander’s hands. Alexander gave him one last kiss on the nose before laying back.

“I meant it, ya know?”

“Hm, meant what?”

“That you’re still the same handsome man as the one I met ages ago, even if I was going to kill you.” Alexander chuckled and shot Abigor a genuine smile. Abigor returned the grin and rested his head on his husbands chest. Both
men sat in comfortable silence with the occasional stifled yawn, fighting the waves of sleepiness that came from a long day of work. Alexander mumbled something into the crook of Abigor’s neck, causing the other to let out a muffled ‘hmm?’ against his chest.

“I said I love you.”

“Even if I planned to kill you originally?” Abigor joked. Alexander let out a tired laugh and held Abigor tighter, tracing shapes into his back with his nails absentmindedly.

“Yes, even then.”

“I love you too.”
