*Luz's POV*

-THERE IS MENTION OF HOMOPHOBIA, BUT IT'S BREIF!!!!!-

I jolt awake, heavily breathing. "It was just a dream, calm down," I mutter under my breath. I smile then opened my eyes, expecting to see the Owl House, and hear Hooty's voice conversing with Eda and King sleeping on the foot of my bed.

Sadly, I'm back in my bedroom, and surrounded my friends on the floor. It didn't look like any of them had gone to sleep till later, but they were now sound asleep. Amity's arms are wrapped around me however, and her head is curled into my neck. I run my fingers through her hair, closing my eyes, just trying to go back to the Demon Realm.

Amity shifts beneath me, and when I look down, she's blinking slowly, trying to adjust to the light. "Morning Sweet Potato," I softly say, scooching down to eye level. She smiles, and gives me a kiss on the cheek, effectively making me blush.

"Morning Luzura," she chuckles seeing upon how much of a mess I was. "What time is it?"

I look at the clock that's plugged into my bedside stand. "It's 9 a.m. Do you want to get up?" I whisper. She considers it for a moment, then replies, "No. I'd rather stay here for a bit longer if that's okay."

She snuggles closer to me, her arms wrapping around my waist, with her just staring at me. "Of course it's okay." I rub her back, and we sit there for a while, just enjoying each other's company. Then, everyone started to stir, and we have to get up too.

I go to the bathroom, Amity holding my hand. We brush our teeth, wash our faces, and are out by the time everyone else is coming to. "Morning guys," I say, grinning at all their yawning faces.

"Morning Luz. What time is it?" Willow asks, stretching her arms over her head. Peering at my clock, it reads 9:45 a.m. "9:45. I'm going downstairs to make some breakfast. How do you guys feel about pancakes?"

They all exchange a glance. "Pan what?" Gus asks, raising a brow. I forget that they don't have something as amazing as pancakes occasionally.

"It's-titan how do I describe pancakes?-like morning bread, except it's made with batter not dough." When the confusion left none of their faces, I simply reassure them they'll like it. "Do you wanna make them with me?" I turn to Amity.

"Sure," she says, and we go downstairs. Mama left a note explaining that she couldn't get the day off, and that she'll be home by 4:30. It doesn't look like Vee is awake yet either, so I pull out the batter box from the pantry.

"Hey Ammy, do you wanna listen to something while we make breakfast?" I ask, pulling out a mixing bowl.

"I'd rather talk with you. Where are the eggs?" I point to the fridge, and grab the measuring cups. "Do you think everyone at home is okay?" she asks, bringing me two eggs.

I crack one and respond, "I really hope they are. I think the Collector stopped the spell in time luckily, but then again, it's the Collector." Amity cracks the other egg into the mix, and I look to find her eyes a bit glossy. "Hey, hey. It's gonna be okay? I promise, we'll get back there and we'll see everyone again." Amity nods, and hugs me tight, and I don't hesitate to wrap my arms around her.

We rock there for a moment before I ask her to fill the cup with water, to which she does. "Okay, now I cannot get distracted at this point because it involves the pan, which involves the stove, which involves fire, and we cannot have a fire," I tell Amity as I try to quietly remove the correct sized pan from the multitude of pans we have stack on top of each other while she mixes the batter. WHY DOES MAMA STACK THE PANS? Amity chuckles at my struggles, and grabs the pam from the cabinet once she's finished. I could listen to her laugh on repeat, I think as I look at her, momentarily losing my focus and nearly sending the pan pile crashing down.

Heaving a sigh of relief that I was able to safely get the pan, I place it on the stove, and take the pam from my awesome girlfriend's hand. I thank her and spray the pan, and turn on the stove to a medium heat. As I spoon the batter into the pan, Amity comes up behind me and hugs my waist, her head resting on my shoulder. We watch the pancakes sizzle, with Amity snuggling closer into my neck, and inhaling.

"You smell like pine trees," she murmured,  turning her head to kiss my cheek with ease. I freeze, just staring at the slowly rising pancakes. She laughs yet again, and grabs the spatula from the pot and flips the pancakes, all with one arm still wrapped around my waist.

"Ammy, I said not to distract me," I finally say, my gaze shifting to her beautiful face.

Amity coyly smiles and whispers, "I didn't know giving my awesome girlfriend a compliment would be distracting." I roll my eyes as the blush burns my face, and go to grab a plate to offload the finished pancakes to. We talk about different things as we finish up breakfast, and everyone slowly makes their way downstairs.

"Eat up guys," I put the pancakes plate on the table, along with butter, syrup, and plates. They all give their thanks as we sit down, and dig into them. We eat with passing conversations, and then all the food is suddenly gone.

"Hey Vee, did you have anything planned for today?" I ask, the basilisk thinking before shaking her head. "Alright, that means you can help me go clothes shopping for everyone. Anyone else wanna try and come? And no, you cannot go in your pajamas before you ask," I clarify, looking at each of them. Gus raised his hand, as did Amity.

"Willow and Hunter, are you two sure you don't wanna come?" Vee asked, looking between them.

"No. I think I'd rather start studying up on this world. I don't know how long that we're gonna be here, but I wanna be prepared," Hunter says. I look to Willow. "I'm not much for shopping," she simply says with a shrug.

"Alrighty then. We'll be upstairs getting dressed, and you two yell if you need anything. Gus for your clothes, I figure you can borrow an old graphic tee of mine and some sweatpants," I plan as we go back to my room, and slide my closet open.

-time skip brought by Belos!; You die, and he fulfills his psychotic dreams!-

The Goodwill from down the street smells. And I don't mean like 'dumpster'. It's more like Bath and Body Works mixed with multiple wet dogs. Amity and Vee grimace at the smell, and Gus has disgust written all over his face. But we have to get clothes somehow. "Come on," I urge, and we split up with our carts-Vee and Gus looking at clothes for Hunter and Gus, ma and Amity looking at clothes for her and Willow.

"See anything you like?" Amity glances at me at the question, and scans the immediate items in her vicinity. "Other than you? Nope. Let's take a closer look though," Amity smirks as my mouth snaps shut , and drags me toward the clothes.

We consult each other on the clothes often, and eventually our cart piles up. I notice that Amity mostly picks up longer maxi skirts and the occasional pair of jeans. Her shirt are either long sleeve, or are bought for the intention of layering.

"Hey Ammy? Why do you always wear long sleeves?" I ask, hugging her from behind. She tenses, then sighs.

"Mom never liked me to have too much skin showing for some reason. Also, my skin burns easily because of how pale I am, so it's also for protection," she explains, sorting through more clothes.

"Okay hermosa. Always know you can tell me anything, and I won't be angry," I reassure her, kissing her cheek before going back through clothes. "We should probably look through shoes too. We can disinfect them when we get home. What's your shoe size?"

"I'm a seven," she tells me, picking up a cute cropped shirt. I raise a brow. "How tall are you?" I ask, piecing something together in my mind. "I'm like 5'8, 5'9. Why do you ask?"  Amity now looks at me with suspicion. "You just have kinda a small foot size for your height. I'm 5'6 almost 5'7 and I'm a nine."

"I don't have a small foot, you just have a big one!" Amity hisses, giving me the stink eye. I chuckle and just say, "Sure Hermosa. Okay."

-time skip brought you by Eda's Human Things; Human Artifact seller! (do not contact the emperor about this stand or you will be found)-

We arrive home with a few bags in hand, having paid with my card that I had been saving money on. Sorting all the clothes into piles in my room, Hunter and Willow discuss some of their findings, fact checking with me. "I also heard there's something called 'weed'? It's bought pretty often but it's also illiegal, so why don't they get rid of it?" Willow asks at one point, causing me to bust out laughing. Everyone stops and stares at me, concern on their face.

"Okay, first off; don't buy weed. It's a drug. Second off; they can't kill it off because it's used medically sometimes, for people with chronic pain," I explain through my laughter. "Also, if anyone offers you something in a needle, or are in an alley, run away. Don't even engage if you can, just get away."

When we finally finish sorting through clothes and everyone is changed, it's nearly 12:30. "Hey,  I'll go make lunch okay? After that, I need to run to a best buy to buy pre-paid phones or something," I mutter, rubbing the back of my neck.

"I'll go with you, if that's okay," Amity volunteers, smiling at me. The purple and black ear muffs she wore to hide her ears is handing around her neck, and the black spaghetti strap dress she's wearing has a sheer top under it.

"'Course it's okay Ammy. I'll be making peanut butter and banana honey sandwiches if anyone needs me, okay?" I say as I make my way downstairs. Seeing as no one joined me downstairs, I open spotify and shuffle my playlist. 'Love you like a love song' by Selena Gomez started to play, and it brought an immediate smile to my face, Amity popping up in my mind as I sang along to the song.

"It's been said and done, every beautiful thought's been already sung," I grab the bread from the pantry and lay out 12 slices. "And I guess right now, here's another one. so your melody will play on and on, with the best of 'em."

"You are beautiful, like a dream come alive, incredible," a large grin and a blush makes it way onto my face, Amity now consuming my thoughts again. "A centerfold miracle, lyrical. You saved my life again," I softly sang that last part, just replaying how true that line was for us.

"AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW BABY! I-I LOVE YOU LIKE A LONG SONG BABY! I-I LOVE YOU LIKE A LOVE SONG BABY! I-I LOVE YOU LIKE A LOVE SONG BAAABY!" I peel 2 bananas and place them on a plate. "AND I KEEP HITTING REPEAT-PEAT-PEAT-PEAT-PEAT-PEAT!" The chorus repeats again as I cut one banana up, each sandwich getting 5 slices. I cut the other one up just in time for verse 2.

"Constantly, girl you played through my mind like a symphony. There's no way to describe what you do to me. You just do to me, what you do," I instinctively change the lyric, getting the peanut butter now. "And it feels like I've been rescued. I've been set free, I am hypnotized by your destiny."

"You are magical, lyrical, beautiful. You are, and I want you to know, baby!" I launch into the chorus again, putting a generous amount of peanut butter on one of the bread slices per sandwich. The bridge makes me take the peanut butter dipped knife I'm holding and turn it into a mic, singing to the imaginary Amity standing next to me.

"No one compares, you stand alone, to every record I own. Music to my heart that's what you are. A song that goes on and on!" I drag the 'on' out longer than Selena does, finally completing the sandwiches with honey on each. "Like a love song," I finish,  places the sandwiches on a plate.

I calmly walk over to the table, place the plate down, and nearly have a heart attack when I turn to see all of my friends at the bottom of the stairs. Gus and Willow are dying of laughter, Hunter is trying his best to hold back said laughter, Vee looks shocked, and Amity is as bright as a red rose.

"Where you guys the the whole time?" I ask, horrified.

"I have alllllll that on video," Vee slyly smiles, holding up her phone.

"WHAT? NO NO NONONONONONO, GIMME THAT!" I screech, lunging for the phone. Sadly, Vee's behind everyone else, and no one is moving to let me through. I make eye contact with Amity, who's just staring at the spot I was standing at. "Um, Amity?" I ask, standing up, video forgotten. "Helloooooo?" I wave my hand in front of her face, snapping her out of it.

"Huh?" Amity says, a little dazed for a moment.

"Lunch everyone!" I announce, grabbing a sandwich from the plate, trying to move past the song incident. Luckily, everyone comes and grabs a sandwich.

After we grab the phones, and get them all hooked up, Mama has just arrived home. "Hola Mama!" I greet her, smiling. She stops short in the doorway, and looks at all of us sat around the kitchen table.

"Well, you guys sure are efficient! Do you guys want to go do something, or get anything else?" she asks, setting her bags down and readjusting her glasses. Everyone responds 'no', and Mama smiles. "Okay then, how about you tell me what happened. And I want to hear the whole story."

"Mama, we explained it yesterday," I say. "Yes mija, but you were all in hysterics. I couldn't understand a word any of you were saying." We move to the living room, and sit on the sofa, and Mama sits one of the seats, with Vee in the other.

"Alright, all of you spill."

-Timeskip brought by Blight Industries!; Your safety is our main priority!-

"And, that's how we got spat through the portal," I let Willow wrap it up, because I'm try not to cry thinking about everyone I had to leave behind. I sniff into Amity's shoulder, who holds my head.

Vee and Mama sit there, staring at us with shock. "Wow," is all Vee says.

"I looked through the world wide web to try to find any ideas on how to get home, but not really anything came up, except an article I read through about some scientists doing it in Cal-Calinfor-Califorla-Some place called CA," Hunter explains, struggling to pronounce California.

I glance at the clock which reads 6 p.m. I wipe the tears from my eyes, nodding, and stand to stretch. "Miss Noceda, I have questions about the human realm. Can I ask you them?" Gus asks, trying to change the subject.

"Um-sure!" Mama sputters. "Great, first off, what are giraffes?" Gus's voice dies as I leave the room, heading to the kitchen for water.

"Luz? Are you okay?" Amity follows me in, placing a hand on my shoulder. I fill a glass, but my hand is shaking so hard it forces me to put it down.

"Amity-I'm trying so hard to to be there for everyone, because they lost actual family, but I can't seem to get over losing the one I found," I confess, the floodgates opening up. They leave me shaking, unable to talk, barely standing, when Amity turns me around and hugs me. I wrap my arms tightly around her waist, and shove my face into her shoulder. I hear her sniffle too, and suddenly we're both crying.

I remove my head from her shoulder, hold her face, and touch our foreheads together. We cry, cry, cry, cry, and cry. They eventually settle down, and we're both heaving breaths, calming each other down. We stand there, hugging and slightly rocking for a while, before I wipe the last of Amity's tears from her cheeks.

"Remember, you've lost part of your family too, blood or not. Yes, you will be there for everyone else, but I will be at your side too. We'll get through it together," Amity says, taking hold of my shoulders like she did on Grom night. She kisses my cheeks, my forehead, my nose, and a short kiss on the lips.

I burn with blush and smile. "Okay. Y'know what? This is too depressing. Let me take you on that mundane slice of life date I promised you," I suddenly declare, holding hands as we go into the living room again. Once I explain my idea to mom, she caves.

"Alright, you two go out. I'll give you some money mija, okay? Just text me where you plan to go, and when you'll be home. Your curfew is 9:30," Mama tells me, looking between the two of us.

"We should be home before then. I'll text you, okay?" I give her a hug, then leave hand and hand with Amity who slides her ear muffs up. "Ciao Mama!" I close the door, and Amity and I share light jokes as we walk closer to town. I dimly note the vibration of my phone telling me Mama has venmo'd me, because Amity and I are just talking, and I love to hear her voice. It's nearing the end of summer, but it looks like everyone from town is on the main street shops.

"What do you have in mind Luz?" Amity asks, her eyes trying to take the scene in all at once. I chuckle, kissing her cheek. "Well, I was thinking we could go get dinner somewhere. Like . . . oh, how about Duchess?" I suggest, and Amity nods.

We wander over to the restaurant, and I hold the door open for Amity. The place looks the same as it did when I left; same multi-colored tiled walls behind the counter, same beige walls with the maroon accents, and the same wooden tables. We walk up and take a look at the menu, and decide on chicken nuggets for Amity, and I'll get the same, and we'll share a side of fries.

"Hi, welcome to Duchess', what can I get for you?" the cashier has her long brown hair in a ponytail, and her mustard colored shirt has a nametag on it. 'Vanessa'.

"Hi, can I please get two chicken nuggets, a large fry, and two medium sodas?" I order, smiling at Vanessa. She mumbles the order under her breath, punching it into the register.

"Alright will that be all today?" I nod, pay, and we go sit down.

"So, what is a chicken nugget? I know chicken is, but what is it in nugget form?" Amity asks as we sit across from the other on our table.

"Well, the meat is ripped off in small parts, then covered in eggs and bread crumbs, which then get cooked," I say after some consideration and a google search.

"Huh. We have something similar on the Boiling Isles. Called Soomite bites. They're very spicy actually, and I can't handle spice well," she sheepishly admits, her hand reaching up to scratch her neck. I chuckle and grin. "You'll have fun with that. My mother make Mexican food often, which can be veryyyyyyyyyyy spicy. Personally, I like it," I tell Amity, whose eyebrows raise in surprise then apprehension.

"Will she be mad if I don't eat it? I don't want to displease your mom." I stare in shock.

"Hermosa, that wouldn't make her dislike you, trust me! If I had friends and I invited them over, and they couldn't handle spice, she'd make them something else! My Mama will love you so long as she thinks you're good for me. Which, I'm sure she loves you," I leave the other part off, because I feel like it's too soon.

They call our order before Amity responds, and I grab it and give them thanks. As I bring it over, Amity warily looks at the tiny box that holds our chicken nuggets. "All right! Ready to try one?" I rhetorically ask her. She takes a deep breath, pick up a nugget solemnly, and nods. "Okay! 3, 2, 1!" I count down as she shoves the food in her mouth.

I tried to analyze her expression as she ate it. It was mostly confusion that morphed into delight, but still. "I also like to dip my nuggets in something called ketchup! It's almost like puréed tomatoes," I clarify. When I see Amity's grossed out expression, I backtrack. "Okay that sounds disgusting, but it's actually amazing!" I reassure her. Just as Amity is going to dip it in, I hear someone walk and stop behind me.

"Well, well, well. Look who's back!" I hear a voice that fills me with dread. Christy, aka my biggest bully. She's your walking stereotype; 'natural' blonde, blue eyes, lululemon outfit, clumpy mascara, and highlighter on the inner corners of her eyes. Amity's brows furrowed at my sudden mood drop.

"Christy," I grumble, pursing my lips. Her eyes shift to Amity and narrow with an idea. No not Amity

"Who is this? A poor girl who's going out with you for a joke? Blink twice if you need saving," Christy mockingly says. Before I could jump in and defend Amity, she cut in.

"I'm Amity. So, you're the piece of shit who bullied my girlfriend. Gee, sounds like internalized homophobia to me. But, you're 'ally' to the guys right? You support the gays? Right?" she says  right like a statement, and she stands up and towers over Christy, her arms crossed.

Christy sputters, but Amity forges on. "Don't worry hon, I'm sure you'll do something in life that doesn't involve you living off your parent's fortune. But, then again, who am I to judge, right?" Christy's expression sours, and she storms off. Amity let's out a relived sigh before turning to me. "Luz, you okay?"

My cheeks are ablaze, mouth open, and all I can think about is my adoration for my girlfriend. She laughs and leans over, giving me a kiss on the cheek. "Well, how about we keep eating, okay Batata?"

-timeskip brought by Morton's potions; Please buy them, I'm slowly running out of snails-

After Duchess', we stop by McDonalds and get McFlurries (Amity's is M&M, mine is Oreo), and head to the park. It's nearly 8 by this point, aka the perfect time for watching the sun set. I find a place that doesn't have dog poo, food, or a ton of bugs around it.

We slowly eat our McFlurries, talking about the most random thing we can think about. "So let me get this straight. You ran from the police when you were 10, because you jump off of something into water, then you found out that the rest of your older cousins also had to run from the police the did basically the same thing?"

"Yup! And boy were the parents mad!" I laugh thinking about the scolding the older cousins got.
"That's insane!" Amity is doubled down with laughter, and if I was forced to hear one sound on repeat for the rest of my life, it'd be hard to chose between her laugh and her voice. An idea lights up in my head.

"Here, are you done with your McFlurry?" Amity nods so I take them and chuck them in the trash. I then quickly scroll through my songs, and click one in particular. The beat builds up, and Amity smiles. "Really?"

"Yes, now get up and dance with me!" I say, pulling her to her feet. She's hesitant at first, but once she gets the real gist of the lyrics, she's dancing like no one's business. By the time the second chorus comes around, she's singing along, and turns out I lied earlier. I would listen to her singing voice on loop for eternity.

Once it finishes, we're both breathing heavily, and smiling widely. "Amity Blight, I love you. Thank you for doing this with me. And I before you ask, I love you more than a love song," I kiss her, standing on a hill with the sunset behind us, doing the best cliché I could ever think of. And y'know what?

This is definitely the most mundane, slice of life date I could ever picture.
